With the aim of enriching the campus cultural life, an exciting English debate competition themed “The
Impact of Technology on Life” will be organized by the Students’ Union.
The competition will be held in the school lecture hall at 2:00 p.m. on May 15th. It will prompt students to
explore both the positive and negative aspects of technological advancements. Students who are interested in
participating should form groups of 4 members. Each group must have a balanced argument structure and present
logical viewpoints. All arguments should be delivered in English.

However, at the reunion, what I experienced made me feel I really needed to forgive. People present greeted
me with warm smiles and kind words. They complimented my achievements and how well I was doing. I looked
around, trying to find Tom and his group. But most faces were unfamiliar, and the ones who ever laughed at me
together with Tom didn’t seem to have the same arrogance as before. They asked about each other’s updates,
including mine. I started chatting with some of them. They also shared stories about their struggles and growth
over the years. I realized that everyone had changed, and holding onto the past grudges was only weighing me
down. My planned speech wilted (枯萎) on my lips. “But how about Tom ” I was wondering.
At this moment, the organizer read a letter from Tom, who was absent from the gathering. In the letter,
Tom wrote, “I’m deeply sorry for my past behavior. I said things that were hurtful and acted like a jerk. I was
immature and thoughtless. If you remember me that way, please forgive me.” Reading those words, a wave of
relief washed over me. I let go of all the pain and anger that had been with me for so long. I knew that forgiving
was not for them, but for myself. From that moment on, I felt free, ready to embrace life with a lighter heart and a
more open mind. I felt happier, more self-confident and attractive and the staircase appearing in my nightmares
