whether
（1）whether作连词，意为“不管……（还是）；或者……（或者）”，引导让
步状语从句。
（2）whether作连词，还可意为“是否” ，引导宾语从句。
whenever
conj.意为“无论何时”，引导让步状语从句，相当于no matter when。与其用法
相似的还有：whatever ＝ no matter what无论什么；whichever ＝ no matter which
无论哪一个；wherever ＝ no matter where无论在哪里；whoever ＝ no matter who
无论谁；however ＝ no matter how无论如何。
【拓展】whenever还可意为“每当；每次”，此时用whenever引导时间状语从
句。whenever引导时间状语从句时，不可与no matter when互换。
simply
adv.意为“仅仅；只；不过”。相当于just 或only。
【拓展】simply还有“简单地；简朴地”的意思。simple作形容词，意为“简单
的；容易的”。
all year round
意为“全年”。
如：Many of these plants are evergreen，so you can enjoy them all year round.
这些植物中有很多都是四季常青的，所以你全年都可以观赏它们。

意为“离……近”。
close作形容词时，读音为/kl s/；作动词时，读音为/kl z/。
