For more information please go to www.eurocamp.co.uk.

For more information please go to www.Threecliffsbay.com.
Longitude 131, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park (Australia)
Lying in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, near the huge red rock formerly known as Ayer’s Rock, this is more like a hotel than a campsite. There’s a restaurant, a pool and even a library. The only problem is that it’s a bit expensive — around ?1,500 a night.

Bill Buda’s daughter Alexa Buda shared a video on her Instagram, documenting her dad’s last day as a mail carrier in their neighborhood. In the clip, Bill Buda was seen delivering the mail to different houses while his family accompanied munity members gathered to celebrate with drawings and sweet notes.
“People will NEVER forget how you made them feel.” he told Good Morning America. After being frequently asked about his retirement, he decided to choose Saturday to say goodbye to more people on his route. But he didn’t expect to be so warmly welcome. “When you see all that on Saturday, I guess for 24 and a half years on this route, I really must have done something right. So it was fantastic.” he said.
He began working as a mailman in 1993 and hardly missed work. He said, “I was so lucky to work continuously for 11 years. So, that’s something to hang my hat on.”
However, becoming a mailman wasn’t originally his plan. Being a basketball player in college, he was set to play professionally overseas before he suffered from a heart problem. What’s worse, he lost jobs for several times while working in a company after graduating with two college degrees. Later, his dad encouraged him to apply for the job at the post office, where he then started working and never left.
Although some might think his job was “a piece of cake,” the actual responsibility was bigger than just delivering mail. “They have no idea you’re peeking in on your elderly; you’re checking if that garage door should be shut…” he explained, “If the mail piles up, you’d better go contact somebody.” As for his plan for retirement, he couldn’t wait to attend any sporting event he could and get everyone in his family on schedule.
24. Why was Bill Buda well-received
A. Because he was posted online by his daughter.
B. Because he had made a difference to neighbors.
C. Because he was often asked about his retirement.
D. Because his family kept him company on the route.
25. What does the underlined part “to hang my hat on” likely mean in paragraph 3
A. Formal. B. Specific. C. Dependable. D. Ordinary.
26. What can we learn about Bill Buda
A. He personally found his job as easy as pie.
B. He dreamed to be a mailman when in youth.
C. He had to clean up the mail piling up himself.
D. He was looking forward to his retirement life.
27. What can be a suitable title for the passage
A. A Mail Carrier’s Retirement Life
B. A Heartwarming Retirement Celebration
C. The Importance of Devotion to Work
D. The Impression of Family Members
C
If writing a letter a hundred years ago was like sitting down with someone in a quiet room and talking face to face, writing an email today is like shouting at someone across a noisy crossroads while they’re rushing to a meeting. Everyone is too busy. We keep getting information from emails, text messages and the web. It’s very possible that your email will be read when the receiver is on a phone or doing other tasks.
This means, when writing an email, you should be clear.
I often receive emails from people who are interested in some sort of knowledge communication but never make it clear how they would like me to take action. Do they want to have a coffee Do they want to make a phone call It’s unclear. So I won’t respond (回复) at all.
It’s more possible for you to get a response from someone if it’s clear what the next step is. Let’s say you’re reaching out to a film director you admire for advice. Don’t just email him/her with:
I’ve been a fan of your films for years, and I’d love to ask you some advice. What do you say
Instead, write something like the following :
I’m a longtime admirer of your films and have the greatest respect (尊重) for your filmmaking skills. I would love to ask you a few questions about how you made your first film. Would you be available to have a 15-20 minute phone call next week My schedule is wide open all day on Thursday and Friday if you are free then. I know you’re very busy, so I promise to keep it short.
The second example explains the subject matter and the fact that you just want to make a phone call. This is more acceptable because you’ve already suggested a date. In other words, you’ve respected their time, and they now know that dealing with you won’t be a headache.
28. What does the first paragraph say
A. Few people write letters nowadays.
B. People seldom talk face to face nowadays.
C. People are too busy to read an email carefully today.
D. People can deal with different tasks at the same time.
29. Why doesn’t the author respond to some emails
A. Because he is too busy with the task at hand.
B. Because he thinks it will waste too much time.
C. Because he doesn’t want to communicate with strangers.
D. Because he doesn’t know what the sender wants from him.
30. What does the underlined word “it” in the last but one paragraph refer to
A. The email. B. The phone call. C. The film. D. The meeting.
31. Why does the author think the second email is better
A. Because it includes detailed and clear information.
B. Because it makes the film director feel proud.
C. Because it is a more official email.
D. Because it sounds more impolite.
D
Imagine a school where students are taught by the best teachers in every subject, regardless of location. Imagine a school where students could go on safe field trips to the Amazon rainforest or Everest base camp. Well, such schools are already being built: in virtual reality.
Last year, Optima Academy Online, an all-virtual school, delivered courses that aim to improve the hearts and train the minds of young people. These courses are of different levels, attracting 170 full-time students from all over Florida. In the progress of home-schooling, students use headsets for about three hours a day for formal lessons and then do course work independently with digital check-ins.
Future versions of VR will doubtless be widely used in education, but the only questions are: for what purpose and at what speed There are enough reasons to doubt whether VR schools represent the future of education. Sticking a child in their bedroom with a heavy VR headset fastened to their face and no physical social interaction with other kids will fill many of them and their parents with fear.
A recent report concluded that digital education could significantly improve the quality and equality of schooling systems. But if managed poorly, it could have the opposite effect, turning a digital divide into an educational one. There is growing evidence to suggest that is happening. In Mexico, only 24 percent of 15-year-old students in poor schools have access to a home computer for schoolwork compared with 87 percent in rich ones.
Used properly, technology can be great for enabling self-motivated students to access learning resources and connect with fellow students and teachers all over the world, says Beeban Kidron, a member of the UK’s Digital Futures Commission. The trouble is that Edtech is too often seen as a shiny new toy that will solve all problems and save money rather than being viewed as a different way to learn, she adds.
32. What can we learn about Optima Academy Online
A. It has been widely accepted.
B. It holds faraway outdoor field trips.
C. It provides various online courses.
D. It requires parents to help with check-ins.
33. What does paragraph 3 focus on about VR in education
A. The development. B. The concerns.
C. The advantages. D. The popularity.
34. Students in Mexico are mentioned to show________.
A. Mexican schooling quality has been improved
B. local schooling systems are not fully developed
C. technology access gaps may cause education inequality
D. family backgrounds shape people’s views on education
35. What does Beeban Kidron think of digital education
A. It enriches learning. B. It’s irreplaceable.
C. It needs improving. D. It’s undervalued.

Phone addiction has a number of negative effects. Here are some ways to remove it.
In order not to look at your phone as soon as you wake up in the morning, place your phone in another room or your coat pocket. Then spend at least the first 30 minutes of your day building good habits. 36
Studies show that on average we use the phone 50 to 150 times a day. 37 You could do some reading, do a crossword puzzle or even something as simple as a walk in the yard—anything helping you get rid of your phone is OK.
One of the main problems with smart phones is that you worry if you don’t check your phone regularly, you may miss out on something important, such as invitations to events or work emails. 38 When someone has something important to tell you, they may give you a call. Therefore, it is OK to stay away from your phone sometimes.
What’s going on in the real world, right in front of you, is almost always more important than what is happening online. Put away your phone when you are with someone important. 39 For example, having dinner with friends will become awkward if you always check your phone.
40 That is because being addicted to the phone before going to bed greatly influences your sleep. This can harm your physical and mental health in the long run. Therefore, make it a rule to stop using your phone an hour before you go to sleep.
A. Ask your friends or family for help.
B. However, it is almost never the case.
C. Your smart phone has almost every tool that you need.
D. So you should do something meaningful to avoid looking at it.
E. A good rest should be more important than your phone at night.
F. This could be exercise like a morning run or cooking a good breakfast.
G. Many relationships have suffered because of our addiction to the phone.

Alex sat quietly at the back of his Chinese class, his eyes fixed on the textbook before him. As a shy and unnoticed student, he felt lonely, struggling against the challenges of high school life. Ms Lau, his Chinese teacher, was a light in his dark world. Her warm smile and gentle behavior made her stand out among the sea of teachers. She was the only one who seemed to understand him, always encouraging him to step out of his comfort zone.
One day, after class, Ms Lau asked Alex to her office with excitement shining in her eyes. “Alex, I have an offer for you,” she said, her voice filled with joy. “I am organizing a cultural exchange program to China, and I believe it would be a great opportunity for you to explore a new world.”
Alex’s heart raced wildly, the thought of traveling to a foreign country both exciting and frightening. He felt worried, unsure if it was a good idea to start such an adventure. But Ms Lau’s smile gave him the push he needed to make the decision.
With Ms Lau’s help, Alex began preparing for the trip. He got really interested in Chinese culture and learned about its long history and traditions. After Ms Lau became his Chinese teacher, he learned not only the language but also invaluable life lessons from her. She taught him the importance of being confident and not giving up, reminding him that growth only happens outside one’s comfort zone.
The day of the program arrived, and Alex found himself on a plane headed for China. He couldn’t help but feel shocked as he stepped off the plane and into a world so different from his own. The busy streets, bright colors, and unfamiliar sounds flooded his senses. Yet, Ms Lau’s comforting presence by his side provided him with the strength to face the unknown.

第一节
Be Wise Internet Users
It goes without saying that the Internet plays an increasingly important role in our lives. However, to make the best use of the Internet, we must be wise Internet users.
In the first place, we must use the Internet for the right purposes. Besides having online classes, we can search for some useful information on the Internet instead of playing computer games. What’s more, we need to limit our time on the Internet. It’s common knowledge that long screen time does great harm to our mental health as well as eyes. Never should we enjoy the convenience of technology at the cost of our health.
Let’s use the Internet wisely and improve our studies effectively!
第二节
During their time in China, Alex enjoyed the experience. He felt so excited that he couldn’t wait to explore China. The high buildings, the modern cities, the breath-taking scenery and the advanced technology made Alex really fall in love with this great country. Also, Alex visited several well-known places of interest in China, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and so on, where he learned much more about Chinese traditional culture and history. Apart from that, he enjoyed a lot of Chinese delicious food, among which he liked the Beijing Roast Duck best. Most importantly, to his happiness, he made a lot of Chinese friends who were friendly and kind to him.
Back to New Zealand, Alex was a changed person. He was no longer shy and quiet. He became much more confident and outgoing. As soon as he went back to school, he was glad to tell his classmates about his wonderful experience in China. He studied even harder and was also brave to express opinions and ideas in the class, which won him popularity among teachers and students. More and more classmates made friends with Alex, which made him happier and more optimistic towards life and future.

W: Well, the conference begins at 8:30 a.m. We’d better arrive ahead of time. It’s a 40-minute drive from here to the school. What about we set off at 7:30 a.m. (16)
M: No problem. See you tomorrow. (16)

“The average person spends between eight and ten hours on average in bed every night, so it’s important to spend some time getting your bedroom environment right!” Hayley Worley, founder of Sheet Society, knows a thing or two about getting a good night’s sleep. And she believes that your bedroom plays a huge role in the length and quality of your sleep. So what can boost our beauty sleep in the bedroom First, with the right styling, blankets can bring warmth and softness to your bedroom. Position a small blanket at the foot of your bed to create visual balance and a sense of cosiness around the space where you rest and sleep. Second, for a deep sleep, we’re turning to soft and silky bamboo bedding. (18) Third, add a new step to your “wind down” routine with a hot cup of herbal tea. Fourth, color plays an important part in calming you down, so pick a color or combination that suits your personal style. (19) Last but not least, the right lighting is the key to relaxation. In the evenings, it helps to switch off any main lights and use softer, warm lighting to light your home. Style your bedside with a low-lit table lamp, (20) as darker light is proven to be helpful for sleep.
