Becoming a Museum Ambassador is one of them. To learn more about this volunteer program, please see the descriptions below.Museum Ambassadors at the American History Museum are a mobile source of information that helps bridge the gap between two other volunteer groups here at the museum ---- information desk specialists, who provide orientation (方向) assistance when guests arrive, and volunteer docents (讲解), who provide Highlights tours, facilitate hands-on demonstrations and circulate through many of our exhibitions to interact with visitors. Each year, our Museum Ambassadors help over 100,000 people get the most out of their visits by welcoming groups, circulating throughout the museum’s public zones to answer basic questions, and directing visitors to programs and exhibitions of interest. The museum has also employed the Museum Ambassadors to assist with special projects and events as needed. To learn more about what Museum Ambassadors do, check out what Larry has said. “As museum ambassadors, we get to share in the curiosity of a child, the nostalgia (怀旧) of returning visitors, the treasure hunt of students assigned to find important historical objects, and the amazement of those experiencing our eye on the nation’s history for the first time. My son Nick had been eager to try rock climbing and he needed a partner. As a 45-year-old mother, I am not a physical person at all. But I still decided to join him in a training class. The first time I reached the top and returned safely to the ground, I was flooded with a mix of emotions. My body trembled with adrenaline (肾上腺素), as I had pushed myself harder than I ever thought possible, but I had accomplished it.Four months into my climbing journey, I had an accident while bouldering (攀岩). I’m not sure what exactly happened, but I believe, my foot missed a hold on the way down. I didn’t land properly and injured my lower back. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I feared that I would never return to rock climbing or bouldering and said to Nick sadly, “A piece of me would slip away. It would be forgotten and lie passive forever. I couldn’t let that happen.”It took nearly three months before I felt strong enough to give it another try. Nick was supportive throughout the process. I made it halfway up, but then panic set in. I felt like I had let myself and Nick down. He reassured me, telling me not to worry, to take my time, and to try a different route when I was ready. Fifteen minutes later, I chose a different path. I kept reminding myself that I could change my mind at any time. Along the way Nick guided and encouraged me. To my surprise, I made it to the top and back to the ground safely.Rock climbing was doing wonders for me. It has not only enhanced my physical and mental strength but also implanted in me a newfound sense of confidence. Moreover, it serves as an excellent opportunity for Nick and me to strengthen our bond, while encouraging me to explore more possibilities, embodying the spirit of pushing myself to the limits.24. What was the key to the author’s successful try after recovery A. Her passion. B. Nick’s backing.C. Her experience. D. Doctors’ encouragement.27. Which of the following is the best title of the text A. Facing up to the next challengeB. Reaching for a lifelong ambitionC. Pushing boundaries with rock climbingD. Enhancing competence through boulderingCGenres (体裁) are often viewed as structural frameworks for literary texts, onto which elements like imagery, character, plot, and setting are layered. These frameworks are passed down through generations, evolving (演变) over time.Among all genres, the novel received the most critical attention in the twentieth century, often praised as the “king of genres” due to its reflection on the real world. Yet, in the nineteenth century, it was primarily seen as a form of middle-class entertainment. It was not until the twentieth century that the novel was lifted to the status of an art form, joining in the same league as painting or classical music. Later on, many scholars successively studied the characteristics of novels from the 18th and 19th centuries.Recently, in a book of Edwin Frank, Stranger Than Fiction, he raises an appealing question: is there such a thing as a “twentieth-century novel” Is it meaningful to distinguish the twentieth-century novel from its nineteenth-century predecessor----or even from the novel of the twenty-first century Frank thinks so. In his book, he illustrates how the twentieth-century novel matures into a distinct literary genre. The twentieth century was a period of violent change; therefore, violent change is what the twentieth-century novel reflects----not, or not only, in its subject matter but in its form. Frank suggests that, modern as the twentieth-century novel is, it shows the cultural relevance to development of societies. However, that relevance seems to have waned. Today, the novel no longer holds a central place in the cultural conversation. People’s daily question has shifted from “What are you reading ” to “What are you streaming ” Television series have emerged as the dominant form of middle-class entertainment in the twenty-first century.Has prestige television reshaped the role of the novel Many nineteenth-century novels gain vitality in the twentieth century through film adaptations Henry James, for example, would likely be pleased to know that The Portrait of a Lady has been adapted into a BBC miniseries, a feature film, and even a television version----each reaching a far larger audience than the original print edition could ever have hoped for.28. Why did the novel gain recognition in the twentieth century A. It mirrored its link with reality. B. It was written in amusing forms.C. It displayed attractive characters. D. It was authored by the middle-class.29. Which aspect of the twentieth-century novel does Stranger Than Fiction focus on A. Its rises and falls. B. Its expansion and effect.C. Its significance and limitation. D. Its evolution and distinctiveness.30. What does the underlined word “waned” in paragraph 4 mean A. Varied. B. Weakened. C. Peaked. D. Remained.31. What does the example of The Portrait of a Lady indicate A. Novels lose their artistic appeal. B. Adaptation decreases novels’ status.C. Media breathe new life into novels. D. TV shows change the role of novels.DThe conversational tone of an AI chatbot or voice-based assistant is a good way to learn new concepts, but it may actually make us more willing to believe in accuracies, compared with information presented in a static (静态的) article. To investigate this issue, Sonja Utz from Germany asked 1,200 participants to engage with one of three formats. The first involved text appearing letter by letter in the style of a large model, similar to ChatGPT; the second provided information through a voice-based device; and the third was a static, text-based copy of content.Participants couldn’t interact with the systems as they might with the real versions, in order to keep the experience consistent across the study. In some cases, participants were given accurate information, while in others, they saw factual errors. Some of these errors were plain wrong, such as naming Sofia as the capital of France, but others involved certain statements that were contradicted elsewhere in the same response.Participants were asked to rate the accuracy of the information on a seven-point scale, where 7 is entirely accurate. In the answers where errors were introduced, the information presented in a static format was rated as 4.24 on average. The ChatGPT-like system managed 4.76, while the voice assistant scored 5.29. Participants rated all of the systems higher for answers where no errors were introduced, but the differences were smaller for the voice assistant and chatbot.“People find conversational chat agents more convincing because humans seem to be hardwired to assign credibility to things that seem lifelike,” says Mike Katell from UK. “The way the chatbots and voice agents are programmed to use a friendly and helpful conversational tone also confuses people. Chatbot makers are trying to put users at ease, which is achieved through believable content and inoffensive delivery.”People have learned that these models generate false information sometimes. “But people don’t realize that this interaction mode makes us tend to believe whatever is written there.” Utz says, “That should be in media literacy training.”32. What was the main focus of Sonja Utz’s study A. Features of AI chatbots or voice-based assistants.B. People’s preference for information sources.C. Why static articles differ from conversational content.D. How text formats influence information trustworthiness.33. In paragraph 3, text errors in the study can be summarized as __________.A. inevitable and conflicting B. minor and commonC. obvious and internally inconsistent D. repetitive and randomly selected34. According to Mike Katell, which of the following is NOT a reason why people find conversational chat agents more convincing A. People’s inborn trust in lifelike things.B. Inoffensive delivery of personalized content.C. The chatbot’s use of a gentle conversational tone.D. The makers’ intention to make users feel relaxed.35. Which of the following can be inferred from the passage A. Utz suggests people improve media awareness and competence.B. People’s preference for lifelike things may be overstated.C. How information is presented doesn’t affect how much we believe it.D. The research results are uncertain due to the lack of man-system interaction.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,共12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。Is there a link between social media and depression Do social media have a negative impact on your mental health It’s complicated. In a recent study, the investigators compared social media use and depression between teens.____36____ Specifically, for every hour per day that one teen spent on social media more than her peers, she likely had a 0.64 point higher depression score.A different study published in 2018 identified five distinct types of social media users. The finding was that “problematic social media use” was one of the main themes for people whose mental health was affected by social media. You can have alcohol in your life without it being a problem, or your alcohol use may become problematic. ____37____There’s one important thing to remember about survey research just because two things happen together, it’s not necessarily true that one causes the other. ____38____ For all we know, it could be that people who are already more depressed choose to spend more time on social media.____39____ If you think that we shouldn’t paint social media with one broad brush, you’re on the right track. On the one hand, participants often described social media as a valuable way to cope with stress. On the other hand, cyberbullying via social media was also a common experience for participants. Some also said that constantly checking their own social media profile was stressful. It’s certainly possible that experiences like cyberbullying, comparing yourself to idealized images, and constantly monitoring your profile, are bad for your mood. It’s also true for many that social media offer community support and positive messages. Given the inconclusive research, it’s safe to say that at least we shouldn’t write off social media altogether. ____40____ Anyway, you cannot use it as a crutch for coping with other stressors and mental health problems.A. It’s the same with social media.B. Social media can be a double-edged sword.C. People get more opinionated about the potential problems of social media.D. They found that those who used social media more had higher depression scores.E. They reviewed all existing research and found that there were both benefits and drawbacks.F. The key to benefiting from social media may lie in using it in moderation (适度) and staying socially connected.G. For example, just because higher social media use co-occurs with higher levels of depression doesn’t mean social media use causes depression.第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。It was a winter afternoon when I tripped over a high kerb (马路牙子). At school, whenever someone tried to talk to her, her mind would race with worries: “What if I say something wrong What if they think I’m strange ” These thoughts always made her stumble over her words or give awkward replies. Once, after she accidentally gave a wrong answer in class, she heard some classmates giggling (咯咯地笑). Since then, she had become even more afraid to speak up.One rainy afternoon, while walking home from school, she noticed a small dog huddled (端缩) under a bush. The dog looked lost and scared, just like how she felt whenever she tried to join a conversation. It was shivering, wet, and alone. Lena crouched down and gently approached it.The dog wagged (摇摆) its tail slightly and came closer. Lena noticed a blue collar hidden under its wet fur. Something about its trusting eyes made her heart ache. She decided to take it home. Her parents agreed to keep it temporarily while searching for its owner. Lena named the dog “Shadow” because it followed her everywhere, just like her own shadows of self-doubt.As days passed, Lena noticed how naturally Shadow interacted with everyone. At the park, he would approach others with complete confidence and make friends effortlessly. Even when he made mistakes, like accidentally knocking over someone’s water bottle, his friendly tail wag would make everyone laugh with him, not at him.Taking Shadow for walks gave Lena unexpected friendships. Emily, a girl from her class, often came to the park with her own dog. They started talking about their pets, and soon Emily became Lena’s first real friend. Through Emily, Lena met other kids and gradually found herself part of a group that would meet at the park to play with their dogs. For the first time, she felt like she belonged.注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右;2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头已为你写好。One day, a woman carrying a “Lost Dog: Lucky” poster walked into the park. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Lena and Emily began visiting Lucky every now and then.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________参考答案第一部分:听力(略)第二部分:阅读21~23 CAD 24~27 ABBC 28~31ADBC 32~34 DCBA36~40 DAGBF第三部分:语言应用第一节:41~45 BADCA 46~50 CDBCB 51~55 ADADC第二节:are 57. uniqueness 58. and 59. welcomed 60. partnering61. presence 62. which 63. with 64. an 65. to smooth第四部分:写作(略) 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
