Our preference for this or that kind of music is obviously a subjective matter. It can also be highly unstable, changing not only during a lifetime, but even on a scale of months, or even days. Yet despite such variety, there are three factors that I think are the main contributors.
The first is how we were brought up, or the musical background which surrounded us in our formative years (性格形成时期). The kinds of music that we were exposed to when we were small helped to create very specific mental patterns.
However, even the most stable musical pattern can be changed by socio-cultural concerns, and these form the second contribution to our musical preferences. Music, probably from the very beginning of the existence of modern humans, has been used to bring people together in various kinds of activities, because it is really efficient at regulating (调节) the bodily and emotional responses of large groups of participants. Whether you’re into heavy metal, or hip hop, or jazz, your preferences are guided in part by your desire to be a member of some social circle.
These two factors seem to suggest that musical preferences are formed unconsciously, without the listener being aware of it, but this is obviously not the case. Nothing is likely to be more important than our own subjective feeling at the time of listening. Especially today, with nearly unlimited access to all styles of music, we use music as a tool for regulating our emotions and moods. This is why when you want to study you might reach for something simple, without words. Or when you’re trying to relax before bed you’ll probably listen to something calming. They point to the fantastic power of music in our lives.
28.In writing paragraph 1, the author aims to ________.
A.present some examples B.make a comparison
C.list a few reasons D.lead in the topic
29.According to paragraph 1, people’s preferences for music are ________.

C.unique and obvious D.unconscious and typical
30.What is the function of music in a group activity
A.It can make people familiar with a certain culture. B.It can make people calm down.
C.It can bring people together. D.It can create specific mental patterns.
31.What could be inferred from paragraph 4
A.While reading, people are more likely to prefer rap music.
B.Preferences for music are totally decided by uncontrolled factors.
C.Subjective feeling plays an important role in people’s musical preferences.
D.Musical preferences are formed unconsciously.

As we age, our cognitive and motor (运动) functions worsen, which in turn affects our independence and overall quality of life. To improve or even remove this condition, research has given rise to many promising technologies.
Among these is non-invasive (无创的) brain stimulation: a term covering a set of techniques that can affect brain functions non-invasively from the outside, without the need for surgery. One such promising technique, in particular, is anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (atDCS).
Now, scientists have identified an important factor affecting an individual’s responsiveness to atDCS. The team looked at how native learning abilities determine the effect of brain stimulation applied while learning a motor task. Their findings suggest that individuals with less efficient learning mechanisms benefit more from stimulation, while those with optimal (最优的) learning strategies might experience negative effects.
The researchers employed 40 participants: 20 middle-aged adults (50 — 65 years old) and 20 older adults (over 65). Each group was further divided into those receiving active atDCS and those receiving placebo (安慰剂) stimulation. Over ten days, participants practiced a finger-tapping task designed to study motor list learning at home while receiving atDCS. The task involved copying a numerical list using a keyboard, trying to be as fast and as accurate as possible. The team then used a machine-learning model to classify participants as either “optimal” or “sub-optimal” learners, based on their first performance.
The study found that sub-optimal learners, who were seemingly less efficient at completing the task at the early stages of learning, experienced a quick accuracy improvement while performing the task when receiving atDCS. This effect was not limited to people of a certain age, with sub-optimal learners being found among younger individuals as well.
In contrast, participants with optimal learning strategies, regardless of age, even showed a negative tendency in performance when receiving atDCS. This difference suggests that brain stimulation is more beneficial for individuals who firstly struggle with motor tasks. As such, atDCS seems to possess a restorative rather than a strengthening quality, with important significance for recovery.
32.What is atDCS
A.A technique only for older adults.
B.A way to transfer something into the brain.
C.A non-invasive brain stimulation technique.
D.A surgical method to improve cognitive functions.
33.What can we conclude from the study about atDCS
A.It is only useful for older adults in improving motor tasks.
B.It has different effects on people with different learning strategies.
C.It has no significant effects on the performance of any participants
D.It has a positive effect on the participants who are good at logical thinking.
34.What’s the main idea of paragraph 4
A.The result of the experiment on different age groups.
B.The way to classify participants as different learners.
C.The importance of the finger-tapping task in the study.
D.The introduction of the participants and the experimental process.
35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.The Influence of Learning Abilities on the Effect of atDCS
B.The Importance of Motor Tasks in Cognitive Improvement
C.The Development of Non-invasive Brain Stimulation Technologies
D.A Comparative Study of Motor Task Completion in Different Age Groups

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Lizard (蜥蜴) Problems
My problems started when I learned that Mrs. Smith would be my fourth-grade teacher. She had a lizard in her classroom, and lizards were on my list of terrifying things.
Worse, Richard was in my class again. He knows I’m afraid of spiders (蜘蛛), and all year he pretended to put them in my hair. If he found out lizards were on my list, I’d be finished.
On the first day of school I tried not to look at the glass container in the corner, but Mrs. Smith pulled out the lizard and set him against her shoulder like a baby. “This is Ripley”, she said.
Richard whispered, “Bet you’re scared of him.” “I am not!” I said. Mrs. Smith looked toward Richard and me. “What’s wrong ” she asked.
“Amy’s scared of Ripley” Richard announced. “No, I’m not.” My chest tightened. “I love lizards. They’re my favorite animals.”
Mrs. Smith smiled. “I was going to ask for a volunteer to feed Ripley at recess (课间休息), but since you’re a lizard lover, how would you like the job ”
She probably thought I was speechless with joy.
Before recess, Mrs. Smith showed me Ripley’s bag of greens. I can handle that, I told myself. I’ll just lift the container lid (盖子), drop in the greens, and run.
As Mrs. Smith led the class out the door, I was frozen in a block of ice. I wanted to cry, but my tears were frozen, too. Ripley sat still watching. I knew he was waiting to jump at me the second I lifted the lid. I just stood there for a long time, staring back at Ripley.
Voices in the hall told me recess was over. I closed my eyes, lifted the lid, threw in the greens, and shut the lid. Mrs. Smith said, “You must be enjoying your job, Amy You didn’t come out for recess at all.”
Richard’s eyes got wide. I’d fooled him. But now I’d have to spend every recess with a lizard.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
After a few weeks, Richard said “Why does Amy always get to feed Ripley I want a turn.”

I meant for Richard to put Ripley down inside the container, but Richard set him on the floor and ran outside.

66应用文写作.How to protect our environment
We should take action to reduce haze, which does harm to our health. First of all, I believe that planting more trees is a good way. Second, the government should punish the factories which produce too many polluted things. Maybe we can move factories to areas where few people live. Third, I think it is a great idea to encourage people to use public transportation. Last but not least, we can call on citizens to ride bikes if they take short trips.
续写67. After a few weeks, Richard said “Why does Amy always get to feed Ripley I want a turn.” Hearing that, I was overwhelmed with joy. I didn’t have to stay with the fearful animal at every recess. Mrs. Smith said, “OK. I guess Amy can have an assistant.” A surge of terror flooded over me again. After Mrs. Smith and the class left, Richard raised the lid, grabbed Ripley and took it out of the container. Terrified and nervous, I immediately threw the greens into the container. I tried to pretend that I was not scared of Ripley but in vain. Noticing my scare, Richard intentionally played the Ripley in front of me. “Please put it back.” I said, trembling with panic.
I meant for Richard to put Ripley down inside the container, but Richard set him on the floor and ran outside. Consumed with fear and anxiety, I stood there rooted to the spot, not knowing what to do next. It was at the moment that Ripley walked away towards the door. Taking a deep breath, I grabbed him and put it into the container in a hurry. What amazed me was that the lizard was not so terrified as I imagined. In the following days, I tried to touch Ripley, held him and set him against my shoulder. And then I pulled out my list of terrifying things and officially crossed off lizards. Spiders were next on my list. I also gained a life lesson that bravely taking the first step to overcome fear in heart did count.
