Who Is Your Hero We asked you to tell your real-life heroes. Thank you for your inspiring answers! Here are just a few!

Stopping Jackie was like moving a 1,000,000,000-pound rock. He was a good baseball player, too. He was the first African American baseball player to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era (当代). He was a great man. Thomas Age 13
My hero is very sweet. We like to cook something delicious together. She is very kind. Whenever I feel lonely and sad, she’s always there and inspires me to follow my dreams. She is also my music teacher at school. She makes sure we try our best and she says that even if we make mistakes, it’s fine because it’s what makes us better. My sweet, amazing mom and teacher! Mark Zuckerberg, who starts the social network Facebook, often wears jeans and a T-shirt to work, including to important business meetings. Not everyone agrees with him. Some people say he doesn't look serious this way.
Harvard Business School researcher, Franccsca Gino, has a different idea. While most people seem to think that dressing differently from those around you generally has a bad influence, she believes it can actually have a positive(积极的) effect. And she’s done experiments to support her idea. When her researchers, wearing sportswear, visited the expensive shops an Italy, they were usually viewed as wealthier and more important people than those who were well-dressed in designer clothes.
Do people always view less formal(正式的) clothing more positively Researchers in France took their research out into the street, to the general public. The video they made shows an actor dressed in a well-cut suit and shiny shoes. While walking along the road, he begins to cough badly, stops to catch his breath and falls down. Before he even calls for help, people rush to help him. In another video, the actor appears at the same crowded place and repeats the actions in exactly the same way. But this time, no one comes to help. What’s the difference He’s wearing untidy clothes and looks like a homeless person. In a situation like this, the clothes you’re wearing could mean the difference between life and death.
It seems that our clothing doesn’t only change the way others view us, but also the way we see ourselves. In an experiment testing students’ ability to pay attention to details(细节), the group wearing white lab coats did the best. Why Researchers told them that they were wearing the doctors coats. The experiment didn’t show whether such influences would last long. More experiments are needed in the future before we decide to make the doctors’ coats a must of fashion.
19.Mark Zuckerberg is not considered serious by some people because ____.

A.It is necessary to buy expensive clothes.
B.Wearing less formal clothes is in fact good.
C.It is bad to dress differently from people around you.
D.Wearing sports clothes makes you look less important.
21.In Paragraph 3, the writer proves(证明) his ( her ) opinion mainly ____.
A.by giving reasons B.by using pictures
C.by comparing facts D.by listing numbers
22.What can we learn from the passage
A.What we wear makes a difference. B.Formal clothing makes a wise man.
C.Our value depends on what we wear. D.Our clothing influences our characters.

When everyone in China is getting ready for the traditional Chinese New Year, a Chinese AI app is shining around the world. The Chinese artificial intelligence (Al) app DeepSeek became the most downloaded free app on the Apple App Store worldwide, followed by ChatGPT from Open AI, Gemini from Google, and Llama 2 from Meta.
With this success, stocks (股票) related to DeepSeek rose quickly on Monday, with many starting the day more than 10 percent higher. It is believed to bring a big red envelope to shareholders. In January 2025, the Chinese AI company DeepSeek introduced its new open source model, DeepSeekR1. It is reported that this model made an important breakthrough (突破) by using deep learning techniques (技术) that let the AI develop reasoning (推理) skills on its own. As a result, in tasks such as math, coding, and language reasoning, the model works as well as the top models from big companies like Open AI, and in some fields, it even outperforms the world’s best apps.
What impresses the world most is that the developers used less powerful chips than those used by leading competitors (竞争者). Moreover, both the number of chips and the number of developers on the team are lower than those of industry leaders. This means that the cost for users will be lower than that offered by other competitors.
The app quickly attracted global (全球的) attention. People in Silicon Valley started wondering how its developers almost caught up with American rivals (对手) Marc Andersen, a well-known investor in Silicon Valley, said on X (Twitter), “DeepSeekR1 is one of the most amazing and impressive breakthroughs. I’ve ever seen.”
DeepSeek means a lot to China and its AI industry. It marks the rise of Chinese large models on the global stage. However, with this progress come new challenges. The rapid development of such powerful technology has also attracted criticism (批判) from abroad, including cyber (网络) attacks and other forms of unfriendly behavior.
23.What is the main idea of the second paragraph
A.The introduction of DeepSeekR1 and its breakthroughs.
B.The comparison between DeepSeek and other apps.
C.The reason why DeepSeek became popular.
D.The way DeepSeekR1 uses deep-learning techniques.
24.Why does the writer mention Marc Andersen
A.To introduce the famous Silicon Valley investor Marc Andersen.
B.To suggest that American investors are worried about Chinese AI technology.
C.To prove that DeepSeek is the most downloaded app in the world.
D.To compare the achievements of AI at home and abroad.
25.What can we learn from the passage
A.DeepSeek became the most downloaded paid app on the Apple App Store worldwide.
B.DeepSeekR1 didn’t make any breakthrough.
C.The developers of DeepSeek used less powerful chips and had fewer developers on the team.
D.Stocks related to DeepSeek fell quickly on Monday.
26.Where is this passage most likely from
A.A science-fiction novel B.A financial newspaper
C.A children’s storybook D.A fashion magazine

A few years ago, my daughter asked that her nightly sleeping song be replaced (代替) with a bedtime story. I was happy to obey, and quickly invented stories full of imaginary creatures in complex plots (复杂情节) intended to convey some important lessons about patience or hard work or being kind to others.
But my daughter was not pleased. She had very particular ideas about what her bedtime stories should be about. She wanted stories about a little girl planning a birthday party. A human girl. A human girl about her age. And what fascinated her were the ordinary details: the theme for the party, the place, who was invited, and (most importantly) what they had for dessert. It turns out my daughter is not alone.
In a study, 4-year-old children were read a story about sharing that featured either human characters or animals. Both before and after the story, children had the chance to share stickers with other children.
On average, children who heard the story featuring a human who shared increased the number of stickers they shared, while those who heard the story featuring an animal that shared did not.
The findings from the study support the idea that young children have an easier time exploring what they learn from a fictional storybook to the real world when the storybook is realistic. The leap from an unreal human to a real one is simply smaller than the leap from a raccoon (浣熊) to a human. But it could be that as children grower, they become better at making these leaps, that parents can help them make the leaps more readily.
I found that encouraging 5-and 6-year-old children to explain key events in a storybook made them better at removing the moral of the story and then applying it to a real-world problem. If the theory in our paper is right, this should help children relate the unrealistic aspects of the story to what they know about the real world, and thus appreciate the patterns that hold across both the fictional world of the story and the real world around them.
27.By telling her daughter’s story, the writer suggests children ________.
A.prefer the factual to the fantastical B.take their birthday party seriously
C.demand more from their parents D.prepare for their birthday party well
28.The underlined words “the leaps” in Paragraph 5 mean ________.
A.the ability of exploring a fictional storybook B.the adaptation to the realistic world
C.the procession from the story to the reality D.the identification of fictional human
29.How did the writer help the children learn the story moral
A.By encouraging children to act as the characters in stories.
B.By encouraging children to imagine the fictional world.
C.By encouraging children to appreciate the real world.
D.By encouraging children to explain important events.
30.Which of the following is the best title for the passage
A.Realism Has Advantages in Children’s Storybooks B.Children Like Reading Storybooks with Life Lessons
C.Storybooks About Animals Teach Children More D.Storybooks Make Children Easily Adapt to Society

Hello everyone! Do you know that pickleball is rising in China Today let me introduce the sport to you. Pickleball, a relaxing sport, was invented in nineteen sixty five in the US. Now it is becoming popular in China. Young people are especially interested in the game. It looks like tennis, but is played on a badminton court. As a sports lover, I have tried many sports and got hurt several times so I decided to play pickleball which is safer. What’s more, like badminton, pickleball is fun. The rules are simple with little running, making it easy to start for players of all ages and skill levels. All in all it’s a sport for anyone, anywhere and any time, it is a good social activity as anyone can easily pick it up and play it for fun. I believe this sport can go far in China.

Dear classmates,
The Senior High School Entrance Exams are coming soon. Today I will tell what we should do to keep healthy in our life.
It is important to keep physically healthy. So I try to have a healthy diet. I always remind myself to eat more fruit and vegetables. Also, I keep doing morning exercises. Whenever I have time, I practice volleyball or go running. Having enough sleep is necessary as well. I go to bed before 10 p.m. every night and wake up early, so I always feel energetic during the day.
At the same time, I do my best to keep mentally healthy. Good communication is of great help. I share my worries with my parents and classmates. If I have problems, I will go to my parents or my classmates for help. Besides, I get relaxed by listening to music. I like folk music best as it has strong local colour.
I believe if everyone of us can do like this, we will be happier and healthier.
