All are light and do not take up much space, and none of them can cause a mess which is difficult to clean up.Possible answerP43International Space StationIt is a multi-nation construction project that is the largest single structure humans ever put into space. Its main construction was completed between 1998 and 2011, although the station continually evolves to include new missions and experiments. It generally holds crews of between three and six people. After the Columbia space shuttle disaster in 2003, crews were as small as two people.Work in pairs and guess whether they would be useful for astronaut in space.√ soap towel guitar shower mircowave pen tape tissue√√√√√√1. You’re back on Earth now. Are you happy to be back Captain Brown: Well, yes and no. It’s great to see my family again, but I also miss the International Space Station. I’ve gotten used to floating around just wearing shorts and a T-shirt.Interviewer: So let me ask about the space station. Was eating in space difficult Captain Brown: Not really. We don’t have to cook in space. We choose what we want to eat before we go to space, and then the food is prepared and stored for us. We just have to heat the food and enjoy it.Interviewer: Cool. Well, I know astronauts cannot shower in space since the water would float away, so I’d love to know how you keep yourselves clean.Interviewer: Today we are very pleased to chat with Mr Yang Liwei, the first Chinese astronaut.Welcome to the show, Mr Yang.Mr Yang: Thank you.Interviewer: Mr Yang, our audience is very curious about how you succeeded in becoming China'sfirst astronaut. It must have been a very difficult thing to achieve. Did you always want to be an astronaut Mr Yang: Yes, I dreamt of it when I was young, but I never thought my wish would come true. It took a long time. First, I got my collegedegree when I was 22, and then I worked as a fighter pilot for around听力原文10 years. I finally became China's first astronaut when I was 38 years old.Interviewer: Oh, so you must be a really experienced pilot. Do you think that was one of the reasons why you were chosen for the space programme Mr Yang: Sure, I had 1, 350 hours of flight experience, which I think really helped me.Interviewer: So how difficult was it to join the space programme Mr Yang:There was a lot of competition. Altogether, 14 of us were chosen from among 1,500 pilots totrain for space flights.Interviewer: That sounds really difficult. Did you also have to be a certain size and weight Mr Yang:Yes, at the time, you had to be shorter than 172 centimetres in height and weigh less than 70 kilograms. You also had to be in perfect health and perfect shape.Interviewer: So you were the perfect choice! As we all know, an astronaut needs to be healthy and calm in order to work in space. But you also had to study a lot, too, right Mr Yang:Yes, I had to learn English, science, and astronomy. I also had to practise using space equipment, and do a lot of mental and physical training. It was very tiring, but I was so proud to have the opportunity.Further Thinking : Can you come up with morequestions to ask Captain Brown 1.Why can’t astronauts take showers 2. What do astronauts usually do with the toothpaste 3. How long did Brown stay in space during his last mission 4. Why was there a guitar on the International Space Station Imagine you are going to a space camp and Captain Brown has been invited to give a talk. What would you like to ask him Group WorkExpressing curiosityI’d love to know…Well, I’d really like tofind out…I’m most curious about…I’m very keen to knowI wish to know…I wonder how/what/why…I hope you won’t mind measking about…I’d particularly like to know…I’m most interested to discover…Share your idea!EXAMPLE:A: Hey, guys. We’re going to meet a real astronaut. Isn’t it exciting B: Yeah. I can’t wait to see Captain Brown!I’m really curious abouthis life in space. I have plenty of questions to ask him.C: Such as B: Oh, such as what facilities do they have in space to support their daily life C: That sounds like a good question. ButI’d also like to know abouthow astronauts sleep. What do they do so as not to float around while they sleep A:I wonder howthey get exercise on space---it’s not like they can go out jogging.C: I’d never thought of that. But then, after they exercise,I’m very keen to find out howthey wash their clothes.B: Never mind that.I’d really like to find out howwomen astronauts wash their hair.A: But we’re forgetting the most important question of all, aren’t we C: And what’s that A: Well,I’d really like to find out whatthey do when they meet aliens.Time for presentationPlease evaluate the dialogue according to theChecklistDoes the dialogue include some questions aboutlife in space station 2.
