英语是一种节奏较强的语言。英语句子中有的词重读，有的词不重读。英语单词中有重读音节和非重读音节，重读和非重读音节在句中形成一强一弱或一重一轻的变化，这样就形成了英语的节奏。

学生需要注意母语对外语学习的影响，说英语时注意哪些单词应该重读、哪些单词应该弱读，强弱交织，形成像水流不断的语流节奏。英语童谣（nursery rhyme）、歌谣（chant）因其韵律和谐、节奏轻快，非常适合用于训练节奏。
