Language points
pick up 接电话。它相当于answer the phone/ telephone。它是由“动词＋副词”构成的短语，可接名词或代词作宾语，代词作其宾语时，要用其宾格形式且必须放在pick与up中间。
Lucy was watering the flowers in the garden, so she didn't pick up the phone/answer the phone.
【拓展延伸】pick up的其他常见含义：
