世贸大楼共110层，高达411米，是一个由两座并立的塔式摩天楼（被称作“双子塔”）、4幢办公楼和1幢旅馆组成的建筑群。2001年9月11日，恐怖分子劫持两架民航客机先后从不同方向撞向世贸中心的双子塔楼，两栋塔楼随后相继倒塌。

1.People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important events in history. In America, for example, many people remember what they were doing on April 4,1968. This was an important event in American history. On this day, Dr. Martin Luther King was killed. Although some people may not remember who killed him, they remember what they were doing when they heard the news.

1) the rest of ...意为“剩余的……”，既可接可数名词，也可接不可数名词。作主语时，谓语动词的数应与of后面的名词的数保持一致。

2) in silence意为 “沉默着, 静静地”, silence为不可数名词, 意为 “沉默;无声”, 其形容词为silent。
keep silence = keep quiet “保持安静”

take down 意为 “拆掉; 拆除; 拆卸”, 此处根据上下文可译为“摧毁; 毁掉”, 此处用了被动语态结构。
