When I walked into my office on Tuesday morning last week, I found a surprise. There was a packed Beijing duck on my desk, which was from Carl, one of the managers.
Last week, Carl asked whether he could take Monday off so that he could go to Beijing to visit his college classmate George's mother. Carl is a very nice Chinese person. Even without a reason, I was happy to agree.
Carl explained that even in those years, there was always not enough food. When he attended college in Beijing, George and his family often invited him to their family dinner. Recently, Carl learned that George's mother, Mrs. Li, had a serious illness. He thought he had to visit her in person. When he arrived, Mrs. Li was very happy that she could see him one more time. The food on my desk came from her as a gift to show thanks to me. I was moved. It was really nothing for me to agree with Carl's leaving. However, Mrs. Li, who didn't know me, also showed her thanks to me.
A few weeks later, Mrs. Li was back to health. And now her kindness still remains as strong as it was then. Like other foreigners in China, I have met difficulties in this new environment, but they have all been eased (缓解) by people like Mrs. Li and Carl.

①Say you're at a party and you are talking with someone you've never met before. They tell you a funny story about a recent trip. It's a good story, so you ask about some information. Which one makes a better first impression (印象), the person who tells a funny story or the person who asks questions
②Research from a team of Harvard showed asking more questions increases people's positive impressions.
③In the first study, a group of 430 participants (参与者) came to the lab for a “Chat Study”. Every two participants would chat with each other on the computer. Before starting, one of them was told to ask “at least nine questions”, while the other was told to ask “at most four questions”. After chatting for 15 minutes, both participants answered how much they liked their partner and how much they thought their partner liked them. Participants' evaluation (评价) of each other showed that those who asked more questions were more likable.
④In the second study, another group of participants needed to read the texts of the conversations from the first study, and then were asked to evaluate how much they liked each one of the partners. This group actually liked the people who asked fewer questions better.
⑤“In other words, when you are talking with someone, you like the people who ask more questions. However, when you watch a text of the conversation, you like the people who answer more questions,” the researchers explained. “This means we like the people who pay attention and give responses to us personally.”
⑥To find out whether some kinds of questions increased liking more than others, the research team analyzed (分析) the conversations. The results showed that follow-up questions are more likely to increase liking because they show the question-askers' attention to the speakers.
⑦“Although asking too many questions or asking the wrong questions is not good, people should understand that it's no harm to ask,” Huang, the leader of the research team, said.
60. How does the writer develop his idea in Paragraph 1
A. By doing some professional research.
B. By describing a situation to guide people to think.
C. By asking some questions about the first impression.
D. By comparing different opinions from different groups.
61. What were the participants asked to do after chatting in the first study
A. To choose one of the best questions. B. To read all texts of the conversations.
C. To ask as many questions as possible. D. To consider how much they like each other.
62. What can we infer from the two studies
A. It is not right to ask the wrong questions.
B. The more follow-up questions you ask, the better you are.

What do you think of the saying “Traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books.” Yes, this is the meaning of traveling. What has been learned from books is not enough after all. “Listening and reading” parts in the textbooks are not as good as “seeing and enjoying” for oneself in real life. So “going to the places in the textbooks” has something to do with “traveling while reading”. It works really well in students’ learning journey. It can not only make students more interested in learning, but also bring them a more lively and fresher experience.
Many people who love traveling will find that, in fact, what they see in their eyes is quite different from it in the pictures. The surprise they get when they are at the places and the beauty they see in their eyes can never be photoed by cameras. When they get there, they can feel the beautiful scenery that can’t be described in textbooks. And the real experience helps people in many ways. For example, students see, touch and feel the real world and get experience. This is very helpful to improve their writing abilities. No wonder some parents said, “Now when my children get home to write compositions, they can write as much as possible.”
There is a more important sense in this kind of traveling: to raise children’s love of our homes and country. There is no certain answer to the question of what kind of person a kid should become, but “having patriotism (爱国)” should be included in the answer.
Hello, everybody. I read an article about Traveling while reading. The writer tells us traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books. “Traveling while reading” works really well when 78 . Through traveling to the places in textbooks, students 79 and get a more lively and fresher experience. Many travel lovers find it hard to show the surprise they get and 80 with photos. Besides, people can get help from the real experience in many ways. For example, students can improve their writing abilities 81 . Moreover, it’s of great importance to raise children’s patriotism. That’s the meaning of traveling with textbooks.

Team spirit is really important for us. Team spirit means that people work together and help each other as part of a team. With this spirit, people try hard to make their team the best of all. There are different kinds of team spirit. One kind is the connection between team members when they work for a particular goal. Another is people's natural love for their country when a whole nation cheers for its country in competitions. Team spirit creates various good effects. It creates friendship and trust between people. There may also be bad effects. Too great team spirit may cause arguments or fights with other team members. You don't have to wear the team spirit clothes. Anyone can show team spirit just by showing support for the goal.

One possible version:
The First Time I Felt Like a Grown-up
When I was a child, I always wanted to be a grown-up sooner. Then there came this day. After I got to the school gate, I found Grandpa wasn't there as usual. It was Grandpa who came to pick up my sister and me. He was never late before. I decided to go to my sister's classroom and meet her first. I took her with me and we waited for our grandpa together. However, Grandpa didn't turn up. My teacher came and advised me to take my sister home by myself since it was just about 15 minutes' walk. So I did. I held my sister's hand and refused her wish to buy some snacks on the way. She didn't stop crying until I promised to share my toy cars with her.
We arrived home safely, but it was like a long journey for me. That was the first time that I felt like an adult. I depended on myself to look after my sister. And I was really happy for being a responsible brother.
