Access to the temple is via the Avenue of Sphinxes, which once stretched 1.86miles from the Luxor Temple to the Temple of Karnak in the north.
The New Gourna
The New Gourna is an uncompleted housing project in Luxor from the 1940s that was created to move away the villagers of Old Gourna, who economically sustained their community by stealing local Pharoanic tombs—much to the displeasure of the Egyptian Department of Antiquities, who wanted to move the 7,000 locals away from the area. Hassan Fathy, an architect known for his rural housing and traditional methods, was hired to design the new village on a site 50 miles away.

Contrary to most boys, I've never had a problem saying "no". No to let my desk neighbor borrow a pencil. No to just take "one sip" (尝一口) of a drink I didn't want. Saying "no" to everything just felt natural, and the two letters slid off my tongue so well that eventually people stopped asking me to do things. My thought process was simple: If something wasn't within my comfort zone, I should avoid it.
One of my favorite poems from the Bible has always been, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future", but I never actually laughed or did anything without fearing what would happen next. So, with a sudden urge, I decided to start saying "yes" as long as it wasn't illegal and didn't violate my own moral code.
This one word brought all kinds of new experiences where I found myself in a bar playing late one night with new friends and sitting in the front row at SoulCycle—a nice change from my back row, corner spot. Of course this change has had both good and bad outcomes, ranging from fun memories to lots of work and making semi-costly mistakes, leading to the unavoidable blames from my boss.
Remember when we were six and the whole world was ours We colored on the walls and slid into the cookie jar, fearless and unconcerned. We said "yes" to whatever we felt like doing, and then we became adults. Our dreams and sense of adventure faded away with our imaginary friends.
Reality is that we all have dreams, but most of us make excuses for not pursuing them. It's more like a matter of inertia (惰性), of just ignoring the dreams, of maintaining the present situation. "No" keeps everything predictable. But you can break out of your comfort zone and get more out of life through the simple power of "yes".

The "lipstick effect" refers to the idea that women purchase more lipsticks when the economy is in bad shape. A 2020 study published by the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics investigated the spending habits of women aging 18-40 during the 2007 recession (衰退). They found a rise in make-up purchases during the years when money was the tightest. There are a few theories that try to explain this seemingly impractical trend.
In a 2021 article published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, researchers theorized that the "lipstick effect" was a result of evolutionary mating psychology. "The lipstick effect reflects a strategic shift in women's consumer behavior that is guided by the desire to attract the mates they most desire in an environment where they are rare," the researchers concluded.
Though this paper is frequently cited, a 2020 study published in the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics suggested that the women who contributed to the increase in cosmetic purchases included an even mixture of married and single women, employed and unemployed.
It turns out, the most popular lipstick color for women to buy is contrary to what men find the most bewitching. That said, there are various potential reasons why lipstick purchases increase when the economy is down, and they have nothing to do with mating and the male stare.
"Perhaps people simply trade down to cheaper luxury and feel-good purchases when money gets tight," consumer psychologist at the University of the Arts, London, Dr. Paul Marsden, told Byrdie. This is a great assumption, considering a survey conducted by found that 51.8% of adult Americans purchase products when they are seeking to improve their mood.
However, there has yet to be any conclusive evidence explaining the "lipstick effect". Whether it's lipstick, single-use facials, or a new book, purchasing low-cost luxury items can be a pick-me-up in the face of tough times.

History as it is studied today begins with the earliest civilizations which left visual and literary evidence which historians can collect, analyse and interpret. Western historians begin with the Mesopotamians, the Ancient Egyptians, and especially the Ancient Greeks. These might be the first civilizations to produce complex texts, art and architecture to which we still have some access in the twenty-first century.
Historians study the source evidence left by the people of these periods in order to understand who, how, why and what they were. We are then taught to form differing interpretations by other historians within our own theories and research, in order to create a balanced, informed and analytical article, book or documentary. The article must remain dispassionate and aim towards objectivity, removing any subjective prejudice which might emerge before and during research.
However, it is too limiting and it can paint a false picture of the past to both professional and recreational readers, by focusing too narrowly on certain events or individuals and completely ignoring other seemingly less important events or individuals, through a lack of either evidence or interest. History as a series of events covers the lives of billions of people from every country for thousands of years. Each individual's actions and everyday life, from their birth until their death, whether emperor or peasant, is history, and worthy of study in its own right.
Furthermore, to be objective in an historical essay, one must be separated from one's study, having no emotional reaction to the evidence and maintaining a tolerance and relativity to historical context, so that the evidence will not be destroyed by modern preconceptions (成见).
However, absolute separation, whether through attempted objectivity or distance of time, is useless to historical study. Pure objectivity can never be realized as we are all highly subjective, emotional beings, and what we write will always reflect this: it is what makes us human, and humanity is what we study.

To begin with, dishes like fried chicken are priced at 18 yuan, which stops some students from consuming. I suggest the prices should be adjusted based on our buying power. Secondly, it would be better if the chopsticks employed for a long time were replaced by new ones. Most importantly, it's our common wishes that the staff can show more patience with us.
