Duncan Jurman became interested in butterflies when he was around 5 years old.He noticed a couple of caterpillars( 毛 虫 )in his backyard and was attracted by the different ways that caterpillars can disguise( 伪 装 )themselves to stay safe in potentially dangerous surroundings. From there,he started to learn more about caterpillars and butterflies.
Jurman believes that butterflies play a crucial role in our ecosystems. They're very low on the food web,so they support a lot of different species that rely on them. They're an indicator species for the health of the environment.Once they disappear, everything else is soon to follow.
Jurman's goal is to transform the landscape of Florida's Broward County by turning a weedy suburb into a lively butterfly reserve at a time when insect populations are decreasing quickly worldwide.Jurman believes that every flower planted is a potential home and source of food for caterpillars and butterflies. He eventually developed a butterfly-friendly garden in his backyard by researching the different plants that butterflies prefer. He has already raised and released more than 5,000 butterflies from his garden.
Jurman also launched the Bring Butterflies Back campaign to educate people about butterflies and invite them to join his cause of protecting butterflies. He said that a lot of people are surprised to learn that insects are declining at such an alarming rate, largely because the decline has been so gradual. This phenomenon helps to explain why people are unwilling to take meaningful actions to save the environment.
In 2018,Jurman helped to build a butterfly garden at his high school. The garden has had a regenerative effect on the surrounding environment-birds,native lizards, and other insects have returned in great numbers.Other schools have been inspired to start gardens."I don't know if we can ever reach the point that we were once at with butterflies, but I think that if everyone gets involved and starts their own garden, they can make their own impact,”Jurman said.
24.What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about
A.The food chain of insects.
B.The competition between species.
C.The potential danger to butterflies.
D.The vital role of butterflies in nature.
25.Why did Jurman create a butterfly-friendly garden
A.To teach people about butterflies.
B.To study butterflies' favorite plants.
C.To increase the number of butterflies.
D.To improve the beauty of his backyard.
26.Which shows the phenomenon mentioned in the text
A.People's unawareness of environmental changes.
B.The impact of human activities on insect habitats.
C.The rapid decline of butterfly populations worldwide.
D.The process of transforming natural landscapes into reserves.
27.What can be inferred from Jurman's words in the last paragraph
A.More gardens are built to increase the number of other insects.
B.Jurman is pessimistic about the future of the butterfly population.
C.It's impossible to restore the butterfly population to their previous levels.
D.People's joint efforts can have a great impact on the butterfly population.

The Chinese animated ( 动 画 的 ) movie Ne Zha 2 has become the highest- earning animated movie of all time globally since Feb.18.This shows how big and successful China's movie industry can be,according to China Daily.

Just as damaged teeth can be replaced with gold crowns (齿冠),scientists are exploring how gold can be used to repair damaged parts of the brain.
Scientists at Linkoping University in Sweden said that a“brain of gold”might just be what we need to fight nervous system diseases. The plan is to put gold electrodes (电极)into the affected part of the brain. They will act as "telephone operators"between nerve cells and electronic medical devices, enabling communication so that the nervous system can function normally.
Treatment plans that involve connecting medical devices to the brain already exist. However, the electrodes used are usually made of hard metals, while the brain is like a jelly that“"shakes"at the body's slightest movement.
“As the body is constantly in motion, achieving close contact between something that is hard and something that is soft and breakable becomes a problem," explained Klas Tybrandt, one of the scientists.
This is why the Swedish scientists are using a new material called“gold nanowires”(金纳米线) .As the name suggests, these are long, extremely thin gold threads-1,000 times thinner than human hair.By putting them into rubber, the scientists have successfully created electrodes that are soft enough to connect comfortably with the human brain.
Gold can be made into structures as small as nanowires.According to Live Science, gold can be stretched, pressed or even rolled into all kinds of shapes without breaking. What's more, gold doesn't react with other chemicals in the human brain, making it a safe choice.Once placed in the brain, gold nanowires can last for at least three years, which is longer than many materials currently in use.
32.What role will gold electrodes play in treating nervous system diseases
A.Replacing damaged nerve cells.
B.Serving as a communication link.
C.Activating different brain regions.
D.Protecting the brain's unaffected parts.
33.What can we learn about gold nanowires
A.They are harder than rubber.
B.They are as thin as human hair.
C.They can be placed into the brain.
D.They are in the final stage of development.
34.Why is gold a safe choice for use in the brain
A.It can be stretched by the brain.
B.It can be made into various shapes.
C.It is being used to create soft electrodes.
D.It has no negative impact on the brain's functions.
35.What is the main idea of the passage
A.The unique properties of gold nanowires.
B.The history of gold use in the medical field.
C.The current applications of gold in the brain.
D.The potential use of gold in nervous system treatment.

Adversity Quotient(AQ, 逆境商数),which is also known as the“Adversity Intelligence”,measures a person's ability to handle setbacks and struggles in difficult situations.Unlike IQ or EQ,AQ focuses on resilience-the power to recover from failures and adapt to adversity. 36 Psychologist Dr.Paul Stoltz, who first proposed the concept in the 1990s,emphasized that AQ is crucial for personal and professional success, especially when IQ and EQ levels are similar among individuals.
Why does AQ Matter In today's fast-paced world, challenges are unavoidable.
High AQ individuals tend to view difficulties as temporary and manageable. 37
In contrast, those with low AQ often feel stuck, blame others, and find it hard to keep going.Studies suggest that 80%of long-term success relies on EQ and AQ, while IQ contributes only 20%.
Dr.Stoltz identified four components to evaluate AQ:
※ Control: 38 High AQ individuals actively seek ways to regain control, even in terrible circumstances.
※Ownership:The willingness to take responsibility for improving outcomes. 39
※Reach:Limiting the impact of adversity.Resilient people prevent setbacks from spreading to unrelated areas of life.
※Endurance(持久力):Perceiving challenges as temporary.Optimism about the duration of difficulties helps maintain motivation.
40 Schools and workplaces now give priority to“adversity training to cultivate resilience.Strategies include changing negative thoughts, setting small achievable goals, and learning from past failures. As the saying goes,“Smooth seas never make a skilled sailor"-accepting challenges shapes a stronger character.
A.AQ alone can really determine success.
B.AQ can be developed through intentional practice.
C.The influence one believes one can have over a situation.
D.However, constantly analyzing failures may lead to anxiety.
E.They stay positive and prevent them hurting other parts of life.
F.A person with high AQ won't easily give up in the face of hardship.
G.High AQ individuals are responsible for their actions and focus on solutions.

When Rosa was still a young girl, her parents decided to send her from their home in Tehran,Iran,to live with her aunt in London,England.
The journey was long, and as she flew to England,Rosa spent much of the time imagining what her new life would be like. She was determined to do well at school and make her parents proud.
However, when she arrived at the airport in London,it was not quite as she had imagined at all.Worst of all was the feeling that everybody was looking at her with strange eyes.Rosa noticed with surprise that she was the only one wearing a scarf.
London proved to be a very strange and unfamiliar place. It rained constantly every day during the first week, and Rosa was unimpressed with what she thought was British summertime.Despite being told that her English was good, she struggled to understand people's accents and slang( 俚 语 ) . The young girl felt disappointed with her new surroundings and she missed her family and friends dearly.
When the day came for Rosa to go to her new school, she was extremely nervous. Her aunt tried to comfort her, saying,"I'm sure you'll make lots of friends today. You just wait and see."But things didn't go as smoothly as her aunt had hoped,at least not initially. Some girls in her class pointed and laughed at her, showing no interest in befriending the new girl.Feeling so different from everyone else,Rosa wished she could be back home with her family.
During a lunch break,as Rosa sat alone in the corner of the playground, thinking how to escape back to Tehran,a young girl named Emily approached her. She introduced herself, shared her milkshake with Rosa, and said,"I think your scarf looks cool.”In return for her kindness,Rosa took out four biscuits from her pocket and shared them with Emily.Soon the two were lost in games, running about in the corner of the playground. They exchanged stories-Rosa told Emily all about life in Tehran, and Emily told Rosa about all of the cool things she could do in London.

As the days went by, Rosa and Emily became good friends. They spent their lunch breaks
together, exploring different corners of the playground and sharing more stories about their lives.
Emily introduced Rosa to her friends. With Emily’s support, Rosa began to feel more confident
and comfortable in her new school. She even started to enjoy the rainy days, seeing them as a
unique part of her new home. Her English improved, and she found herself understanding people
better. Most importantly, she realized that having a friend like Emily made all the difference.
One day, Emily invited Rosa to a picnic in the park. It was a sunny day, and the park was full
of people enjoying the weather. Rosa was nervous at first, but Emily’s encouragement helped her
relax. They spread out a blanket under a big tree, and shared food. Rosa felt a sense of belonging
she hadn’t felt since leaving Tehran. Watching the kites flying in the sky, Rosa realized that
London wasn’t so strange after all. She had found a new family among her friends, and she was
