farther/farthest与further/furthest的区别：
①指距离时，均意为“远”，可互换。如：I'm so tired that I can't go any farther/further. 我太疲倦了，不能再走了。
②指抽象概念时，只能用further/furthest，意为“进一步；更多的”。如：She went abroad for further study. 她出国进修。
older/oldest与elder/eldest的区别：
①older/oldest意为“年龄较大的”，可指人，也可指物，作定语或表语，可用于than引导的比较状语从句。
②elder/eldest意为“年长的”，只指人，作定语修饰名词。
My elder brother is 7 years older than me.我的哥哥比我大7岁。

1.表示“两者中比较……的”，用"the+比较级+of the two"。
This apple is the bigger of the two.这个苹果是两个中较大的。
2.表示两者之间进行选择，用Which/Who is+比较级, AorB ”。

3.原级比较中的“not as/so...as”可以转换为“比较级+than.."。
Jim is not as tall as Jack.吉姆不如杰克高。
=Jack is taller than Jim.杰克比吉姆高。
=Jim is shorter than Jack.吉姆比杰克矮。
4.much, far , a lot, a little , a bit, even, a few , still , rather可修饰形容词或副词的比较级，最常用的词为前6个，即“3多( much , far , a lot)、
2少(a ittle, a bit) 、1甚至(even)"。
Annie decides to work much harder and get better grades next year.安妮决定更努力地工作，在明年获得更好的成绩。
5.定冠词the在最高级中的应用：
(1 )形容词最高级前须用定冠词the，副词最高级前可不用；形容词最高级作表语，也可不用定冠词the。
如: We are busiest on Mondays.周一我们最忙。
(2 )形容词最高级前有物主代词、指示代词、名词所有格等修饰词时，不再加定冠词the。
He wrote his best songs before he was 25.他25岁以前就写了他最好的歌。
