“The hunting dog!” cried Holmes. “Come, Watson! Come!”
We ran quickly over the moor (荒野). We heard one last cry and then a heavy sound. We stopped and listened, but no other sounds broke the silence. Holmes put his hands to his forehead (前额) and hit his feet on the ground.
“We are too late, Watson.”
“No, no, surely not! Can you see anything ”
“Nothing.”
“But, listen, what is that "
Suddenly we heard a low sound of pain. A man was lying on the ground. As we came near. we saw the dead body of Sir Henry Baskerville! He was wearing his brown suit.
“Oh, no!” said Holmes and his face was white with shock in the darkness. Holmes moved closer to the body. Suddenly he began laughing.” A beard (胡须)!” he said, “This man has a beard!”
“A beard ”
“It is not Sir Henry--why It is the prisoner (囚犯) who got away, Selden!”
It was really the face of Selden, the bad man.
Then, suddenly, it was all clear to me. I remembered that Sir Henry had given his old suit to Barrymore, and Barrymore had probably given it to Selden.
“Then Selden is dead because of this suit,” said Holmes. “Think, Watson! Someone gave the dog some of Sir Henry's clothes--probably the boot (靴子) from the hotel in London. The dog picked up Sir Henry's smell and ran after this poor man."
Suddenly we saw someone walking towards us. It was Stapleton. “Ssshhhh!” Holmes spoke very quietly. “Don't say a word to show your doubt!”
“Hello, Dr. Watson. What are you doing on the moor " asked Stapleton. Then he saw the dead body and added, “Oh no! What's this Is our dear friend Sir Henry dead ”
Then, he looked at the dead man. “Who .. who is this ” he asked.
“It's Selden, the prisoner. He's dead.”

②Imagine a classroom in the future, where teachers, children, and robots work together. Children in this future classroom still learn in the same way as they do today. Long ago, people lived happily under the rule of a king. The people of the kingdom were very happy as they led a very rich life with plenty of wealth and no disasters (灾难).
Once, the king decided to travel on foot to visit places of historical importance and pilgrim (朝圣者) centers at distant (遥远的) places. Because he thought it was convenient to communicate with his people if he walked around. People of distant places were very happy to have a conversation with their king. They were proud that their king had a kind heart.
After several weeks of travel, the king returned to the palace. He was quite happy that he had visited many pilgrim centers and seen his people leading a happy life. However, he had one regret.
He had great pain in his feet as it was his first trip on foot covering a long distance. He complained to his ministers that the roads weren't comfortable and that they were very stony (多石的). He could not stand the pain. He worried about the people who had to walk along those roads as it would be painful for them, too!
Considering all this, he ordered his servants to cover the roads in the whole country with leather (皮革) so that the people of his kingdom could walk comfortably.
The king's ministers were shocked to hear his order as it would mean that thousands of cows would have to be slaughtered (屠宰) in order to get enough leather. Also, it would cost a huge amount of money.
Finally, a wise man from the ministry came to the king and said that he had another idea. The king asked what his advice was. The minister said, “Instead of covering the roads with leather, why don't you just use a piece of leather cut in proper shape to cover your feet ”

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has changed students’ lives and study a lot. With AI tools, learning seems to be easier, but students must be careful when using them to stay away from problems. Let’s find out how AI influences education.
Studies show that 65% of middle school students now use AI tools for learning. They turn to technology to complete schoolwork with less time. Photo-solving apps help students find answers three times faster, but studies show 40% of the students just copy answers without thinking.
Three popular tools show AI’s power in education. ChatGPT explains difficult topics like space science in simple words. DeepSeek, a Chinese writing helper, gives advice to improve vocabulary and logic (逻辑) in articles. Another tool, Doubao, acts like a homework guide — ask it “Why do plants need sunlight ” and it explains biology ideas with examples.
By using these tools, students can solve problems in different subjects. However, always asking AI tools for answers without thinking may stop you from coming up with creative ideas. If students use AI to write passages every day, they might forget why practicing writing matters. Also, too much screen time causes health problems. Doctors say students using AI over 2 hours daily get 1. 8 times more eye pain.
It’s helpful to set clear rules for yourself. For example, try solving a math problem yourself for 10 minutes before using apps to check answers. When writing, use ChatGPT only for ideas but organize them yourself. Also, noticing your time spent on AI tools and trying to use it for less than 1 hour daily can not only relax your eyes but also give you a break to improve your work with your creativity.
Let’s use AI tools wisely.

You either have it, or you don’t — a sense of direction. It is the ability to know one’s position and to find one’s way around without getting lost. But why can some people find their way across the Sahara Desert without a map, while others can easily get lost in their neighborhood
Scientists say we’re all born with a sense of direction, but it is not properly understood how it works. One explanation is that people with a good sense of direction have simply worked harder at developing it. According to a new study, children as young as seven have the ability to find their way around. However, if they are not allowed to go out alone or are taken everywhere by car, they may never develop this skill.

Three years of my middle school has passed quickly. During the three years, I have met many excellent teachers. I'm glad to say something about my favorite teacher. My favorite teacher is Miss Liu, who teaches us English. She is a really kind and helpful teacher. She always has a big smile on her face, making everyone around her feel warm, She is also very patient. No matter how simple the question is, she will explain it clearly until we fully understand.
Once, I failed in an important English exam. I was down and blue and even started to doubt my ability. Miss Liu noticed my sadness. She asked me to go to her office after class. Instead of blaming me, she encouraged me in a gentle voice. She said that failure is a stepping-stone to success and I should learn from my mistakes. She offered to help me with my weak points. Then, during the following days, she spent her spare time helping me practice grammar and improve my writing. With her great support, I made rapid progress. In the next exam, I got an excellent grade
I will always be thankful to Miss Liu. Her kindness and encouragement have not only helped me improve my English but also made me a more confident person.
