The Tang Dynasty (618-907AD) was a golden age of Chinese culture, and its art was famous for its colorful and creative styles. What do you think of when you think about Tang Dynasty art One feature (特点) about china, paintings and clothing from that time was that they used a lot of different colors.
This was also true for women’s faces. The ladies back then were given much freedom to express their beauty. They used makeup (化妆品) with brighter colors than before. They put makeup mainly on their faces, forehead, eyebrows and cheeks to look more beautiful.
“Women’s facial makeup in the Tang Dynasty was different from today. They put yellow powder on their foreheads. It was called the ‘yellow forehead’ ”, explains Sun Ji of the Museum of Chinese History. Just like the “yellow forehead”, the “green eyebrows” was also a makeup word. ▲ They dyed their eyebrows green to make themselves look nice. Later, the green color got darker and turned black.

You’ve probably noticed something about the car industry over the last few years. Or rather, the lack of something. Buttons (按钮) have disappeared from many cars. Touch screens have taken over instead. From turning on the wipers (雨刮器) to turning down the heat, all you do is tap a screen.
Touch screens are very common in new cars. According to a recent survey, nearly all (97 percent) of new cars coming onto the market after 2023 have at least one touch screen. About 25 percent of U.S. cars on the road have a screen at least 11 inches long.
There are many reasons for carmakers’ preference for touch screens. For one thing, they can save production time by putting as few wires (电线) as possible through the car. Locating most functions through a touch screen also allows them to update functions over the air. With such screens, carmakers could even make money from advertising.
But using the screen while driving requires eyes off the road and that can be very dangerous. Looking away from the road for two or more seconds doubles the possibility of an accident. According to a 2017 study, drivers were distracted (使分心) for about 40 seconds when using touch screens. U.S. traffic authorities said 8 percent of all U.S. traffic deaths in 2021 resulted from distracted drivers.
Euro NCAP provides the public with information on the safety of new cars. It tests cars and gives them safety ratings (等级) in a five-star system. This March, the government published new testing rules. Under the new rules, a car won’t get top scores unless certain basic functions have their own buttons. The new rules will go into effect in 2026.
Euro NCAP doesn’t have the right to force carmakers to use buttons. But it will give no more than four stars to cars that depend too much on touch screens. Will that help stop a complete move away from buttons in cars We have yet to find out.
36.How did the writer describe the use of the screens in new cars
A.By sharing experiences. B.By telling stories.
C.By asking questions. D.By listing numbers.
37.How many reasons for carmakers’ preference for touch screens are mentioned
A.2. B.3. C.4. D.5.
38.Which of the following is TRUE according to the text
A.Buttons will completely disappear by 2026.
B.Carmakers may keep some buttons to meet safety standards.
C.Euro NCAP will force all carmakers to use buttons.
D.Drivers will refuse to buy cars without touch screens.
39.What is the text mainly about
A.The cost of car touch screens.
B.Touch screens in cars and their safety problems.
C.How to use car buttons correctly.
D.The best car models with big screens.
40.What’s the writer’s attitude towards the future use of buttons in cars
A.Positive. B.Worried. C.Uncertain. D.Supportive.

Can you imagine an AI chatbot (聊天机器人) competing with you in an examination Do you think you could get higher scores than it A new AI chatbot called ChatGPT recently passed a law exam! Sounds crazy 41
ChatGPT was developed by US company Open AI. 42 It’s not only good at learning but also full of sense of humor.
You can ask it to write stories and emails, translate languages, and answer all kinds of questions. According to a US survey of more than 1000 students, over 89 percent of them have used ChatGPT to help with homework. 43 For example, New York City public schools don’t allow students and teachers to use ChatGPT on the district’s networks and devices (设备).
The measure (措施) comes out of worries that the tool could make it easier for students to cheat on homework. 44 “It does not develop thinking quality and problem-solving skills, which are necessary for studying and lifelong success,” said Jenna Lyle. Apart from bans (禁令), teachers are making changes to their classes to prevent the use of ChatGPT. Some college teachers in the US try to include more speaking exams and handwritten papers instead of typed ones.
45 Some Canadian universities are making rules on its use, for both students and teachers. They have no plans to completely ban the tool so far. Some people said that bans on AI software like ChatGPT are not wise. “We have to know that AI is a tool people will use.” What we need to do is to “change our learning, teaching and examinations”.
A.It is a powerful tool.
B.So it is very popular among students.
C.However, not all people say “no” to ChatGPT.
D.Some schools in the US do not allow students to use it.
E.The use of ChatGPT has raised hot discussions in the education world.
F.Some also worry that ChatGPT could be used to spread incorrect information.
G.As AI improves, we are supposed to use ChatGPT as much as possible.

For more than a month, the world has been excited about a new AI model, DeepSeek-R1.
It 66 (develop) by DeepSeek, a Chinese business in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
67 new AI was released on Jan 20. In just one week, it beat Open AI’s ChatGPT and became the top free application (应用) in Apple’s App Store, reported Xinhua.
68 (it) developer said that DeepSeek-R1 is as good at difficult tasks as other big models but needs less computing power (算力). It is also the 69
(expensive) of its kind and it took only about 5.57 70 (million) US dollars to develop. That is why less than the hundreds of millions or even billions that US businesses have had to spend on 71 (build) similar AI models, Marc Andreessen, a technology expert in the US, told Xinhua.
DeepSeek-R1’s success 72 (large) came from its special training method. Traditionally, AI is trained in two ways. One is Chain-of-Thought (思维链), where AI learns to break problems 73 smaller, simpler steps. The other is Supervised Fine-Tuning (监督微调), which works by showing AI lots of practice problems along with the right answers for it to find a pattern. So far DeepSeek-R1 74 (grow) to be a reasoning model, which is a new type of AI, noted Microsoft engineer Vinayak Hegde. Regular (常规的) AI models, like GPT-4o, usually just give direct answers. 75 reasoning models are trained to both think and show the process.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Singapore. First of all, I’d like to talk about something about it. Singapore is a small island in southeast Asia. It is a wonderful place to take a holiday. In Singapore, more than three quarters of the population are Chinese, so you can simply speak Putonghua a lot of the time. It’s also an English-speaking country, so it’s also a good place to practice your English. Most large cities have zoos, but have you ever been to a zoo at night Singapore has a Night Safari. It might seem strange to go to a zoo when it’s dark. However, if you go to see lions or tigers during the daytime, they’ll probably be asleep. A lot of animals only wake up at night, so this is the best time to watch them. One great thing about Singapore is that the temperature is almost the same all year round. This is because the island is so close to the equator. So you can choose to come whenever you like, spring, summer, autumn or winter. And, of course, it’s not too far from China.

However, I met a good math teacher in the middle school. He makes the classes so interesting and fine. And I’m gradually getting better at math. So I like learning math best now. On weekends my father and I like to spend time together. We usually go to the library. We both love reading, and it’s a great way for us to relax and learn new things. 81.例文
Dear Jim,
I’m extremely glad to hear from you! Knowing you’re interested in the prevalence of short videos among students, I’m writing to share my insights.
Short videos, usually lasting no more than a few minutes, are extremely concise. They are also fairly easy to produce. All you need is a smartphone to start recording. There are multiple positive aspects. They enable students to record and share their daily lives, from fun school events to personal hobbies. What’s more, educational short videos help spread knowledge in an engaging way. However, there’s a dark side. Many students get addicted to the allure of short videos. They waste large amounts of time scrolling through their feeds, ignoring their studies.
In my view, short videos are like a double-edged sword. If we use them with self-discipline, they can enrich our lives. But if we lose control, they may have a negative impact.
I hope you find my answer helpful.
Best regards,
Li Hua
