Our emotions (情绪) are among the most uncertain things in life. Why do people laugh Nobody really knows. Will you be happier if you spend a lot of time going to medical school or if you spend the time you would spent in medical school making friends
Questions from our emotional lives are so hard to understand that in ancient people went to temples (寺庙) for answers. Probably the answer wouldn’t be clear, and you would still be at a loss, but you would feel as if you’d made some progress.
The greatest wisdom of the temples was these now world-famous words: “Know yourself”. And this is not just a matter of self-examination. To know yourself, you must communicate with others—you must discover who you are in the world.
These questions from our own private world are as important as ever, but now, we seem to know ourselves less and less. We don’t communicate with people the way we used to. We order food online. Instead of meeting people, we read their online personal information. It is no wonder that people have begun to treat the Internet as a temple. We search for the answers to our questions online, and increasingly, we also look for emotional services.
But even if we can learn something from online searches, to find the best answers to these questions—answers that will help us to live fully—requires that we meet the age-old challenge to know ourselves. At some point, we must put our phones away or turn off our computers and take some time to talk with a close friend or simply think about our own lives.

Habits get created in our brains kind of like the way a groove (沟,槽) gets cut into a path.
Suppose you ride your bicycle on a path every day. The repeated pressure of your tires (轮胎) on the path wears a groove into it. In time, it’s hard not to ride in that groove. It takes effort to keep your bicycle out of the groove.
Similarly, a habit is cut into your brain. When you do something the same way repeatedly, or for the same reasons, your brain notices. “Oh, this is what we do when we’re avoiding homework We pick up the phone Got it.” You get “into the habit” of doing something.
You may even get pleasant feelings from the habit, at least at first. Your brain says, “Ah, fun and relaxation,” or, “I feel calmer. I like this!”
Finally, though, it can seem as if you just end up doing the habit without stopping. You may not know how to get the rewards (奖赏) you want without it.
________ One way is just to notice them at first. Think about what rewards they give you. Joy Activity when you’re bored What do you get out of a habit, or what does it help you avoid
Then think about whether you can get the rewards you want in other ways, without the downstairs you want. For example, instead of avoiding homework, you might deal with the challenge and feel the reward of getting it done! Notice how great it feels when you don’t have it weighing you down. Next time, remind yourself of that great feeling—of the pride you felt—when you broke your habit.
When a habit attracts you, take a deep breath. Remind yourself of your goal. Tell your brain, “You’ve got this.” Because, with effort, and maybe some help and guidance, you do! You can make your bicycle stay out of the groove. You may even decide to ride down a different path.
38.What happens when we repeatedly do something according to the passage
A.We get bored easily. B.It becomes less enjoyable.
C.We forget other things. D.It forms a habit in our brain.
39.What effects do habits have on us at first

B.They provide rewards like fun or relaxation.

41.What’s the best title of the passage
A.The Management of Daily Behaviors B.The Positive Effects of Daily Activities
C.Understanding and Managing Your Habits D.Methods for Immediate Behavior Improvement

Artist Jason Naylor believes that anything can be a canvas (画布), whether it’s a bicycle, a basketball, or a wall. Naylor has painted many murals (壁画) across the country that encourage viewers to be themselves, to practice kindness, and to spread joy.
Each piece of murals offers its own special meaning, but they are all part of Naylor’s job to make the world a more colorful and positive place. “I want to make people’s day a little bit brighter.” he says.
The process for creating a new mural is unique to every project. Often, a group or organization invites him to design a mural for a special place, like the side of a billboard. He meets with them to discuss a plan. Once he and his team of assistants have a complete design, they are ready to start painting.
Because he is making art outdoors in public spaces, passers-by can watch him work in real time. Sometimes they start conversations with him or tell him their thoughts about the piece he is working on. “That’s one of my favourite things—to be on the street painting, with nice weather and music playing, and with people stopping, wanting to talk and ask questions.” To Naylor, this is a benefit of the job. He feels that these interactions (相互作用) make his artwork a shared experience, rather than a piece belonging to him. “It’s super exciting for me.” he says.
Each of Naylor’s murals has a message that he chooses carefully for the specific place. “I think about the people who are going to see it every day,” he says. “What will it feel like for them I want to make sure that what I leave on that block is going to be positive for those people.” Sharing these messages is his way of spreading happiness and kindness.
42.What kind of world did Naylor paint murals to make
A.Colorful and positive. B.Bright and tidy.

43.What’s the correct order of Naylor’s creating a mural

③be ready to start painting ④meet and discuss the plan
