Sir Nicholas Winton【尼古拉斯·温顿爵士】
Sir Nicholas Winton(1909--2015) was born in London. On the eve of World War II, he was just a broker(经纪人，掮客) at the London Stock Exchange, but he single-handedly（单独地；一手创办）established an organisation to aid children from Jewish families at risk from the Nazis and managed to rescue 669 children from Czechoslovakia（捷克斯洛伐克，匈牙利）. Then he found them homes in Britain to help them escape the massacre（大屠杀）. The secret was kept for half a century until his wife found journal when a television programme episode（插曲，一段经历；一集） made by BBC was broadcast in 1988, and only then did his rescue achievements finally become known to the world. The British press called him the “British Oskar Schindler” and the children he rescued, “Winton's children”.

Nicholas Winton was born on 19 May 1909 in London, to German-Jewish parents. The family later took British nationality. On leaving school, Winton worked in banks in Germany and France. He returned to Britain in 1931, where he worked in business.
In December 1938, a friend asked Winton to come to Prague to aid people who were escaping from the Nazis. In Prague, Winton saw people living in terrible conditions and whose lives were in danger. He decided to help transport children to safety in Britain. He established an office to keep records of the children, and then returned to Britain to find temporary homes for them. He used donated funds and his own money to pay the 50 pounds per child that the British government required. By August 1939, Winton had saved 669 children.
During World War II, Winton served as an officer in Britain’s Royal Air Force. He left the military in1954. He then worked for international charities and for various companies. For the most part, he did not mention the children he saved and his actions soon disappeared from people's memories.

A knighthood is a title in the British honours system, and is often granted to those who have made a significant contribution to the country.
The Order of the White Lion was first created in 1922 by Czechoslovakia as an award for foreign citizens. After World War II, it became an award for those who had helped liberate the country from Nazi occupation. In the 1990s, it was re-established as the highest order of the Czech Republic. Unlike in the past, it is now awarded to Czech citizens and foreigners alike for outstanding services to the Czech Republic.

Becuase, for the most part, Winton did not mention the children he saved. Winton might have thought that it was normal to help others when they were in trouble, so it was not worth mentioning.

Ho Fengshan(何凤山), a Chinese diplomat(外交官) based in Vienna, who is as “Chinese Schindler”, saved thousands of Jews from the Nazis.

He Fengshan (何凤山) was the Consulate General of China in Austria (中国驻奥地利总领事) from 1938 to 1940. He granted thousands of visas to Jews to help them flee the Nazis. For the most part, he did not mention the Jews he saved. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 96. Later, people learned about his story and he was given several honorary titles.

　　Hello, everyone! Now I am pleased to talk about Nicholas Winton, a respected figure of mine, who is well-known as “The British Schindler” across the world.
　　Nicholas Winton was known for organising the rescue of 669 children from death at the hands of Nazis. In 1938, he was invited by a friend to Prague to help transport children living in terrible conditions to safety in Britain. Also, he used money to pay required money for their living expenses. In 1954, he left the military and then worked for international charities and various companies. However, Mr Winton didn’t mention the saved children.
