She was born into a family that had a traditional cultural background. So, from a very

When you visit a park, you’ll probably see a lot of people, both young and old, using fitness
apps on their mobile phones instead of the fitness equipment. Fitness apps are really popular these
days. Why do more and more people like fitness apps better than going to the gym Is using
fitness apps just as good as going to the gym
If you want to go to the gym, you have to get there, pay for a membership card, and find
the right time to exercise. But with fitness apps, you can work out whenever and wherever you are
with your phone. You can also pick the workout plans that fit you and your body.
But here’s the big question: Do we get the same result in fitness from using fitness apps as
we do from using gym equipment Some researchers did a study to find out. The people in
Group A were told to follow a workout plan on a fitness app. The people in Group B used gym
equipment to do a similar workout. They found out that both groups got about the same fitness
improvement.
Another study also showed the same thing. In this study, scientists watched how people’
s bodies worked when they used fitness apps and when they exercised in the gym. The result was
that using fitness apps made almost the same muscle(肌肉) groups active as using gym equipment.
But some people still think they get a better workout in the gym. One reason might be that
when people use fitness apps, they might not have anyone to watch them and they could do the
exercise wrong. “If you don’t do the exercise the right way, you might not get all the good things
from it, ” a fitness expert said.
38. How did the researchers compare fitness apps and gym equipment

B. People using fitness apps don’t need to worry about getting injured during exercise.
C. The results of the studies might make some people change ways of keeping fit.
D. Going to the gym is a waste of time since fitness apps can achieve the same result.
41. How is the text organized (①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2, . . . )

The Amazon rainforest is one of the most amazing places on the earth. It covers a large area
mainly in South America and is often called the “lungs of the earth”. Why does it have such a
name Because it produces a large amount of oxygen through the countless trees and plants
there, which is important for all living beings around the world.
There are a large number of living things in the Amazon rainforest, from colorful birds to
various monkeys swinging among the trees, and even many rare and unknown insects that we may
hardly see in other places. The wildlife has formed a balanced ecosystem.
However, in recent years, the Amazon rainforest has been facing serious threats. People cut
down trees for more farmland and to get valuable wood. This not only destroys the habitats of
animals living there but also reduces the amount of oxygen it can produce. Fires sometimes break
out too, caused by human activities like careless burning or natural factors such as lightning,
further harming this precious rainforest.
Schools can play an important role, too. They can include rainforest conservation topics in
their lessons, teaching students about its biodiversity(生物多样性) and the effects of its
destruction. This way, the younger generation will grow up with a deep understanding of and
respect for the Amazon rainforest and be more likely to take an active part in its protection in the
future.
42. Why is the Amazon rainforest called the “lungs of the earth”
A. It is huge in size. B. It has rich wildlife.
C. It has strange insects. D. It produces much oxygen.
43. What can we infer about the effect of tree cutting in the Amazon rainforest

C. It only affects a number of monkeys living there.
D. It has little influence on the amount of oxygen produced.
44. Which is the author most likely to agree with on protecting the Amazon rainforest
A. It’s the duty of the local communities only.

sweep away bad luck and make them beautiful with red lanterns and couplets. The family
will sit around a big table on New Year’s Eve, enjoying a great dinner and chatting happily.
There will also be exciting fireworks.
I sincerely hope you can come to my home during the Spring Festival. We can go to some
festival fairs together, and taste traditional Chinese food and enjoy this festival.
Yours,
