Sloths(树懒)live in the forests of South and Central America. They move so slowly that some special plants grow on their bodies. They give the sloths a green color that helps them to hide from danger in the forest.
This green is a “lucky color” for sloths. That's because most of them are too slow to run away from danger. And they are even slower on the ground than they are in the trees. Some walk only four meters every minute on the ground.
Why do sloths move so slowly It has a lot to do with their food. Sloths may all look the same to us. But there are in fact two main types of sloths. One has two toes(趾)and the other has three toes. The two-toed sloths eat both plants and insects. And the three-toed sloths only eat tree leaves and some fruits. Leaves and fruits provide very little energy. Sloths save energy by not moving very often. They sleep and rest a lot. Some even sleep up to twenty hours a day!

A. Because it brings them more food.
B. Because it helps them save time.
C. Because it makes them walk quickly.
D. Because it protects them from danger.

A. They both have three toes.
B. They both sleep for a short time.

A. To show how people like sloths.
B. To explain why sloths eat animals.
C. To introduce different types of sloth.

Mike was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always happy and always had something interesting to say. If someone asked him how he was doing, he would reply, “Couldn't be better!” He was really a care-free young man and never felt tired.
Mike used to say, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, ‘Mike, you have two choices today. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be upset.’ I choose to be happy. Each time something happens, I am always ready to learn a good lesson. I choose to learn from life.”
I tried to understand what he said.Indeed life is all about choices. Every situation is a choice. The bottom line is: You're living your life and you make it either happy or sad.
Several years later I had a car accident and my legs were seriously injured. When I was lying on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or choose to die.I chose to live.

Evans Wadongo was from a village of Africa. He had to do homework by the light of a kerosene lamp(煤油灯). Evans’ eyes hurt and this made studying difficult. It was common in his village. Many children left school for this reason...so they remained poor for the rest of their lives.
Although studying was difficult, Evans was an excellent student and went to a university. He continued to worry about the kerosene lamp. By this time, he realized it was not just bad for school children but for the whole family. First, it can cause illnesses such as coughs. Also, the light can hurt people's eyes. Besides, it can lead to fires. Lastly, kerosene is expensive, so families have less money for food. It was difficult to come up with a different kind of lamp that was cheap and good for the environment. Yet Evans did not give up.
One day, he had an idea. He could use a small solar(太阳能的)light. Sunlight is free and solar power is good for the environment. Evans built his first solar lamp, and it worked. He began to build more lamps and sent them to local families. An organization heard about this and provided money for him to build more solar lamps.
Each lamp only cost $20. However, this was a lot of money to many villagers, who only earned around $34 a week, so Evans made sure he kept the cost down. First, Evans used recycled materials. Next, volunteers built the lamps. Finally, people from many countries gave away money to his team, so the lamps were usually free.
Thousands of people had safe light. Julia, a mother of three, said. “Thanks to Evans, my children have light to read, and I have my own light to cook.” The solar lamps made a big difference.

Science fiction stories have imagined people in the future living in underground cities on Mars and in space stations far from the sun. But if humans are to survive in those terrible environments, they will need ways to grow food using limited resources. Photosynthesis (光合作用), by which plants turn sunlight into sugar, might not work.
Now, some scientists are wondering whether it’s possible to produce food more efficiently (高效) by giving up photosynthesis, just by growing plants in the dark.
The idea sounds as science fictional as cities on Mars. But a team of researchers has taken a first step toward realizing it with a study published in Nature Food. The research shows it is possible to grow algae, edible-yeast and fungi in the dark by providing them with a carbon-based chemical (碳基化学物质). The chemical didn’t come from plants, but instead was produced using solar electricity (太阳能发电). That is, this method took the place of natural photosynthesis with a partly artificial (人造的) process for turning sunlight into food. Their process is a kind of artificial photosynthesis, and the idea has been around for years and includes different ways of turning sunlight, water and CO2 into some chemicals.
The scientists are hopeful that this method could unlock new ways to produce food using less physical space and energy than traditional agriculture — including, perhaps, crops that can grow in the dark.
While other scientists doubt if it will ever be possible to redesign plant biology so completely, they are excited by the technology the researchers have invented and the team’s creative idea about how to make food production more efficient.
“It’s worth keeping an open mind. The reward may be something we haven’t imagined yet.” said Lynn Rothschild, a senior research scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
70.What is the writing purpose of the first paragraph
A. To tell a story. B. To lead to the topic.
C. To give an example. D. To work out a mystery.
71.What can we learn about artificial photosynthesis from the passage
A. It may help find new ways of producing food.
B. It doesn't need sunlight, water or CO2any more.
C. It has helped successfully grow food with limited resources.
D. It was introduced to the public for the first time in Nature Food.
72.Which is the best title for the passage
A. How to Grow Crops in the Dark
B. What is Artificial Photosynthesis
C. Can Food Crops Grow in the Dark
D. Do we need Artificial Photosynthesis

How can I become a better person This question has been in my head for long. As students, we spend most of our time studying. I know learning at school, of course, makes us better persons, but I always dream of doing more.
Last year, I got to know a group of autistic(患自闭症的) children. We called them "the Snails". It was hard to communicate with them at first, because they wouldn't like to. After a two-week training, I became more skilled. I got closer to them day by day. To my surprise, I found that every one of "the Snails" had his or her own talent; And their colorful pictures on the wall attracted my special attention, though it was difficult to tell what they were trying to express.
Moved by their pictures, I decided to hold a charity sale. We walked on the busy street, selling their creative pictures. We sold 60 pictures that day. People thought their pictures were full of imagination.
Back to the question about how to become a better person, I think I am lucky enough to get my own answer.

【答案】B、A、C
【解析】【文章大意】现在,一些科学家想知道是否有可能通过放弃光合作用,仅仅在黑暗中种植植物来更有效地生产食物,文章对此进行了具体讲述。
70. 结合第一段Science fiction stories have imagined people in the future living in underground cities on Mars and in space stations far from the sun. But if humans are to survive in those terrible environments, they will need ways to grow food using limited resources. Photosynthesis(光合作用), by which plants turn sunlight into sugar, might not work.(科幻小说幻想未来的人们住在火星上的地下城市和远离太阳的空间站里。但是,如果人类要在这些可怕的环境中生存下去,他们就需要用有限的资源来种植食物。植物将阳光转化为糖的光合作用可能不起作用。)可知,第一段的目的是引入话题。
71. 结合第四段The scientists are hopeful that this method could unlock new ways to produce food using less physical space and energy than traditional agriculture—including, perhaps, crops that can grow in the dark.(科学家们希望,这种方法可以开辟新的途径,用比传统农业更少的物理空间和能源生产食物——包括,也许,可以在黑暗中生长的作物。)可知,人工光合作用可能有助于找到生产食物的新方法。
72. 结合第二段Now, some scientists are wondering whether it s possible to produce food more efficiently(高效)by giving up photosynthesis, just by growing plants in the dark.现在,一些科学家想知道是否有可能通过放弃光合作用,仅仅在黑暗中种植植物来更有效地生产食物,以及全文可知,文章对此进行了具体讲述。所以文章的标题是“Can Food Crops Grow in the Dark粮食作物能在黑暗中生长吗”。
