一般来说,比较重要的词都要重读,使这个词的发音响亮而清晰。实词一般重读,而虚词则不重读。在句子中需要重读的词通常有名词、动词、形容词、副词和数词等。冠词、连词、介词、助动词和人称代词等,一般不重读。这样就形成了词的轻重交替。
英语句子中的重读规则
Stress
1. 名词、动词、形容词、副词和数词在句中一般重读。
He is a driver.
They often run on the sports field.
She is a kind teacher.
Mike runs fast.
I have nine books.
2. 冠词、连词和介词一般不重读。
She has a white box.
I go to school after I finish my breakfast.
It’s under the desk.
3. 情态动词、助动词、系动词在肯定的简略答语中或构成否
定式时需要重读,其他情况一般不重读。

He doesn’t like geography.
4. 人称代词(I、me、we、it 等)和形容词性物主代词(his、
her、our 等)一般不重读,但疑问词(what、how、when、
where 等)和指示代词(this、that、these、those)一般要
重读。
