Down, down, down. 掉啊,掉啊,掉啊。这里的down是指fall down,连用了三个down是强调 爱丽丝落进洞里的时间很长,同时也说明洞很深。e.g. Follow me, and you’ll hit the road.跟着我,你就会走到大路上。8. Alice fell for a long time, and then she hit the ground.爱丽丝向下掉了很长时间,然后才落地。(1) 此处意为“到达” ,后面常接地点名词。e.g. The ball hit the house.球击中了房子。A car hit him.一辆汽车撞上了他。(2) 意为“击中;碰撞”。e.g. The ball hit him in the face.球击中了他的脸。The ball hit me on the head.球击中了我的头。拓展:“hit sb. in/on the+身体部位 击中某人的某个部位”,打在脸、肚子等柔软部位时,用介词in;打在头、背等较硬部位时,用介词on。(2) 句中的alone意思是“独自的”,相当于on one's own、by oneself。9. She found herself alone in a long, low hall.她发现自己一个人在一个长而低的厅里。(1) 句中的find oneself … 意思是“发觉自己(处于某种意外的状态)”。e.g. He woke up and found himself in a hospital bed.他醒来发现自己躺在医院的床上。10. There were doors all around, but they were all locked.周围都是门,但都是锁着的。locked /l kt/ adj. 锁住的 →反义词:unlocked“未锁的”e.g. Is the gate locked 大门锁了吗?拓展:(1) lock[动词](用锁)锁上;把……锁起来locked还可以是动词lock的过去式。e.g. Are you sure you locked the front door 你确定你锁上前门了吗?(2) lock[可数名词]锁e.g. She turned the key in the lock. 她转动锁眼里的钥匙。11. Alice saw a small key on a table, but it did not fit any of the doors.爱丽丝看见桌子上有一把小钥匙,但它不适合任何一扇门。fit v. ① 适合,合身 sth. fit sb. 某物适合某人e.g. This shirt doesn’t fit me because it’s so big.这件衬衫不适合我穿,因为它太大。v. ② 安装,修理e.g. We need to fit new windows in this room. 我们需要给这个房间装上新窗户。adj. ① 合适的,胜任的,恰当的be fit for sth. 适合/胜任某事 be fit to do sth. 适合做某事e.g. She is fit to teach English. 她适合教英语。adj. ② 健康的,健壮的 keep fit 保持健康e.g. I keep fit by taking exercise every day. 我每天通过运动保持健康。fit 通常指衣服、鞋、帽子等的尺寸、形状合适,其主语通常为物suit 着重指打扮或颜色适合之意辨析:fit和suite.g. The shoes fit me perfectly.这双鞋子很适合我穿。Blue suits you. You should wear it more often.你适合蓝色。你该多穿蓝色(衣服)。12. What happened next 接下来发生了什么?(1) “happen / h p n/ v. 发生,出现”,一般指偶然发生的事,主语常为事。sth. happens+时间/地点状语 某时/某地发生某事sth. happens to sb./sth. 某人/某物发生某事e.g. A car accident happened to him yesterday.昨天他发生了车祸。(2) “happen 碰巧”sb happens to do sth. 某人恰巧做某事It happens/happened that...恰巧……e.g. I happened to meet my aunt in the street this morning.今天早上我碰巧在街上遇见了我姑姑。It happened that I saw him yesterday. 昨天我碰巧看见了他。take place 不及物动词短语,不能用于被动语态,指根据安排或计划发生,含有事先预料或计划的意思happen 不及物动词,不能用于被动语态,指具体客观事件的发生,有偶然性,未能预见辨析:happen和take placee.g. The birthday party will take place on Sunday.生日聚会将于星期日举行。The accident happened last night.事故是昨天晚上发生的。15.
