I’m Paul. I’m going to talk about two important persons in my life — Mrs. Swift and Carter.
Mrs. Swift lives next door. When I was little and my mom was working, she used to look after me.
She used to make cakes and pies for me. Now she doesn’t cook so much. She starts to go to the
sports club for old people in her free time. I don’t see her so often now. I really miss the old days.
Carter was my schoolmate in primary school and he is one year older than me. I’ve known him since
I was seven. We became good friends because we were interested in the same things: computers and
football, mostly. We used to make model planes together at the school science club. Now we’re in
different senior high schools. Next year I’m probably going to be an exchange student in London,
but I’m sure our relationship won’t change.

How to Get Over the Difficulty
No one can lead a life without difficulty. But how can we get over difficulty Here is one of
my experiences.
I remembered when I was in Grade 7, I had trouble in learning physics. It was so hard to
understand, and I often failed in the exams. However, I didn’t give up. I asked my teacher for help
after class. I also joined a study group with my classmates. We discussed the problems together
and did a lot of exercises. Besides, I spent more time reading physics books after class to improve
my understanding.
Finally, I made progress. I realized that facing difficulty bravely and trying different ways to
solve it are the keys to getting over difficulty. As long as we don’t lose heart, we can overcome
any difficulties.旺苍县 2025 年春九年级第二次诊断性测试

These days, many people can’t live without their phones. They reach for them as soon as they wake
up in the morning. They keep checking their apps, such as QQ and WeChat, to get the latest news.
It may be difficult to give up the bad habit, so Google developed an app called Dashboard(信
息仪表板)to help them. This app helps users manage the time they spend on their phones.
First, Dashboard allows the users to look at their phone habits. For example, users can see how
many times they have unlocked(解锁) their phones, how many times they have checked their apps,
and how much time they spend on each app each day. Once the users see the information, they will
be able to make some changes. They can set a time limit for how long they can use each app every
day. After they’ve hit the limit, they can’t use the app until next day. What’s more, Dashboard can
help keep the phones silent when users put their phones face down, so they will use the phones less.
If you truly want to make full use of your free time, this new app is just a good choice. After all,

Do you feel a little guilty (内疚的) about your daily, mid-afternoon nap Don’t.
Research can show that catching a few ZZZs after lunch can be good for your brain. But keep
in mind that the length of your nap matters.
According to research, a 30-to 90-minute nap in older adults appears to offer brain benefits, but
anything longer than an hour and a half may create problems with cognition (认知).
Researchers looked at information from 2,974 people in China ages 65 and older. Nearly 60
percent of the participants reported napping after lunch for about an hour. They found that people
who napped for 30 to 90 minutes had better memories than people who did not nap or who napped
for longer than 90 minutes.
Longer naps can cause a couple of other problems, says Charlene Gamaldo, a medical expert.
For example, people who take longer naps may feel groggy right after they wake up.“Because they
are sleeping longer, they may wake up from a deeper stage of sleep and may feel less awake for a
period,”Gamaldo says. Another problem is they can’t sleep at night. Gamaldo has seen patients who
take long naps during the day have insomnia (失眠症) at night.
Research says that the best time for older adults to take a nap is between 1:00 and 4:00pm
because of their sleep-wake cycles. And the nap should last between 20 and 40 minutes. In general,
people who sleep too much or too little may have poor health.
61. What is important when it comes to taking a nap
A. How long you nap. B. How well you nap. C. When to take a nap. D. Where to take a nap.
62. What did researchers find that older people who napped for 30 to 90 minutes had
A. More hobbies. B. Better memories. C. Greater creativity. D. Stronger stomachs.
63. What does the underlined word“groggy”mean
A. 精力充沛的 B. 放松的
C. 无聊的 D. 昏昏沉沉的
64. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Napping is good for everyone. B. People should go to sleep whenever they want.
C. Older people need longer naps. D. Napping benefits the brain, but its length matters.
65. Where is this passage probably taken from
九年级英语试题 (共 8 页,第 6页)

Robots have increasingly become a part of our lives. They can perform different tasks, from
simple housework to complex factory work. 66
At the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, an amazing scene caught the attention of millions.
67 Directed by Zhang Yimou, this performance mixed traditional Chinese Yangko dance with
modern robot technology. Humanoid robots(人形机器人), dressed in bright clothes, danced the
Yangko. They spun colorful handkerchiefs and coordinated their movements to form eye-catching
patterns.
These robots were the outstanding works of Unitree, a leading Chinese robotics company.
68 In fact, back in 2021, their robot cows had already shown off their dancing skills as backup
dancers for a famous singer. 69
The robots didn’t just dance casually. 70 Their advanced laser navigation systems(激光导 航系统)made them move exactly on the stage, even with its rough surface. Strong joints(关节),
similar to human knees with amazing power, made sure they stayed steady during fast spins and
jumps. It was a perfect combination of technology and art, impressing audiences both young and old.

As we know, food waste is very serious in some places. Here is a food waste report.
At homes. There is serious food waste at homes. Some people make many kinds of delicious
food for meals. But they may eat only half of them. Some people don’t know what food they have at
home before going shopping. They may buy the same food again. So it’s necessary for people to
plan meals. And people can also read some books about cooking to make good use of their food.
In schools. There is a lot of food waste in schools. Some students don’t like the school meals,
so they sometimes order food online or eat outside. Maybe schools should let students know the
importance of saving food. Students can also play a part in deciding on the menus.
In restaurants. Food waste is also a serious problem there. In order to save time, restaurants
always order lots of meat and vegetables every time. They won’t be fresh soon. Also, when some
waiters of restaurants take people’s orders, they don’t tell people to order fewer dishes. So,
restaurants need to store meat and vegetables in the right way and at the right temperature - not too
hot or too cold. And people should take away the food they can’t eat up.
