A year ago, I decided to create a more environmentally friendly kitchen, focusing on reducing the single-use products such as plastic bags and paper towels. I’m not going to sugarcoat my experience. It takes commitment and a willingness to change long-held habits. In creating my kitchen, I tried a lot of different alternative products and some plain old common sense; the result, however, has been worth the effort. Switching to reusable storage bags is a financial investment, but the cost is reasonable considering that I previously spent at least $100 annually on single-use plastic bags and wrap. I will check online periodically for recycling updates, where a zero-waste box for kitchen items is offered, from party supplies to mixed-material food containers.
I’m a clean freak (怪人) and used to go through an amount of paper towels on a daily basis, but it’s easy enough to take old T-shirts or towels and cut them up to use to wipe down surfaces. I’m also a fan of bamboo paper towels, which have the look and feel of traditional paper towels, yet are made from a highly renewable source and also break down in just 45 days. Better yet, they can be reused up to 100 times. As for kitchen sponges (海绵擦), I keep an eye out for those made with natural and recyclable materials.
When purchasing household items online from companies like Amazon or Jet, I will ask to have them shipped in as few boxes as possible or as small a box as possible if a single item is to be sent. I’ll let the company know that they should pay more attention to how it is packaging items for delivery.

Even if you’ re not a fan of hummus, or olives, it’s worth giving the Mediterranean diet a chance. In 2025, U. S. News and World Report ranked it Number 1 overall, as well as giving it first place as the best diet for mental health, for healthy eating, for inflammation(炎症), for gut health and for being the easiest diet to follow.
The Mediterranean diet dates back to the 1950s when Ancel Keys, a physiologist from Minnesota, came up with the idea for the Seven Countries Study, which revealed its protective effects against cardiovascular diseases. This discovery transformed a regional tradition into a global health symbol.
The Mediterranean diet places plant-based foods at the foundation. A Chinese space mining (采矿)company has designed a robot that can catch waste material left behind by spacecraft in outer space with a big net.
The state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that the robot launched on the government’s Long March 6 rocket along with several satellites. The robot will also investigate deep space to observe small objects in the universe. The 30-kilogram robot, called NEO-01,was developed by Origin Space. Founded in 2019 and based in the southern Chinese tech hub Shenzhen, Origin Space has been dedicated to exploring and using space resources, according to the company. The company says the robot will lead the way in future technology capable of mining on asteroids(小行星).
The world’s first asteroid mining company, Planetary Resources, Inc was established in 2010. Since then, more than 12 businesses around the world have entered the industry, including 3D Systems of the United States and Japan’s Astroscale. Astroscale’s technology uses magnets(磁铁)to gather up space waste. But a report on the Origin Space website says NEO-01 will use a net to catch waste and then burn it. Thousands of satellites have been launched worldwide. As they are used for too long, many end up as waste and put other operating satellites at risk.
Su Meng is the founder of Origin Space. He said the company plans to launch many space telescopes and more spacecraft to begin the first for-profit mining of asteroids by 2045. Su added that NEO-01 will serve as a prototype(雏形) of future space mining robots, which can use rich mineral resources on asteroids to support the development of the space industry.
The Xinhua News Agency reported that China was increasing efforts to land a spacecraft on a near-Earth asteroid to collect material. “Do you forget to bring your homework to school ” my sixth-grade math teacher asked. I nodded my head and said in a low voice, “Yes, sir.” What a mistake I had made! I had completed my math homework. But before I left home and headed for school, I forgot to put it into my schoolbag.
“You will get a zero then,” my math teacher said. I was shocked. I had never received a zero in a math class before. But the school had rules, and the teacher had to let everyone follow them. I was immediately worried about my final math average, which was based on my homework and the tests. Would I get a C or even a D at the end of the term If so, what should I do
My next class was a PE class. As I walked down the hall with my classmates, all those feelings rushed out in hot tears. I wiped them away as quickly as I could. But when we entered the gym and sat down in our spots on the floor, it was clear to everyone around me that I had been crying.
My PE teacher, Ms. Brown, was an athletic teacher, often with a smile on her face. Her class was a good mix of calisthenics(健美操)and games that can give us all a good workout. And Ms. Brown was nice and compassionate(有同情心的). She loved her students and often came to help if the students were in trouble.
During that PE class, my mind was affected by the math homework and I was worried about my final math average. So I failed to devote my attention to Ms.Brown’s direction. And clearly, I was sad. I guessed that Ms.Brown found there was something wrong with me. When it was near the end of the PE class, she walked to me.
