________________________________________________
A mother duck had 6 ducklings. The last one was big and grey.
The other ducklings laughed at him and told him to go away.
He met other animals, but they also didn’t want him.
He saw beautiful swans, and one swan told him he looked like swans.
Let’s learn
1. He doesn’t look like us!
鸭妈妈所说的 “He is still a duck like us!”
What does he look like
It looks like rain.
Let’s learn
2. At the river, the ugly duckling swam well, just like all the other ducklings.
从句法层次上看,at the river作整个句子的地点状语,不是作swim的地点状语,所以不用in the river 或 on the river。
Let’s learn
3. I wish I looked like you!
I wish I had more time.
How I wish I were you!
Let’s learn
4. My friend, you do look like us!
You look like us.
You do look like us.
1c
Read again and answer the questions.
How was the ugly duckling different from the other ducklings in size and colour How was he similar to them
What did the ugly duckling search for Why
The ugly duckling was big and grey, while the other ducklings were small and yellow. However, he could swim well like the other ducklings.
He searched for a new home. because the other ducklings laughed at him and told him to go away.
3. What did the swans look like Were they friendly to the ugly duckling
4. What do you think the story teaches us
I think it teaches us to accept people who are different from us, and not to judge people by their looks.
The swans had long necks and white feathers, and they were friendly to the ugly duckling.
Listen to the story and then read.
