一般过去时
1. 一般过去时的意义
(1)表示过去某个时间或某一段时间内发生的动作或存在的状态, 常和表示过去的时间状语连用,如yesterday、two days ago、the day before yesterday、last night/week/weekend、in +过去时间、just now、this morning等。例如:
e.g. He got up early yesterday.
I visited my grandparents last week.
(2)也可表示过去经常或反复发生的动作,常和 often,always 等表示频度的状语连用。
e.g. He always went to work by bus last year.

3.动词过去式的变化规则(构成)
(1)规则动词过去式(课本P95)
(2)不规则动词(课本P118-119)
不规则动词的过去式变化各异,没有统一的规则,但也并非一点规律没 有,下面介绍一部分动词过去式的记忆规律。
①动词过去式与动词原形一样。如:let→let, put→put, cut→cut。
②遇见i改为a。如: swim→swam, sing →sang, begin→began。
助记:过去式将i改为a的动词
游泳(swim)唱歌(sing)后,开始(begin)坐(sit)下来,
给(give)点儿喝(drink)的吧,i就变为a。
③过去式以ought和aught结尾的单词,
如: bring→brought, buy→bought, think→thought, teach →taught
④中间去e末尾加t,
如:feel→____, keep→kept, sleep→ ____, sweep → swept
⑤把i变为o,如: ride→rode, drive→______, write → wrote。
⑥ow/aw变为ew,
如:know→knew,grow→_____,throw→threw,draw→drew。
⑦以d结尾的词, 把d变成t,
如: build→built, lend→lent, send→_____, spend→ spent。
⑧连系动词be的过去式有两种形式,主语是第一、三人称单数用
was,其他用were。
