Although AI can bring people comfort, it still cannot match the full abilities of a human therapist.
From social relationships work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to address different personal issues. They describe sharing their thoughts and receiving helpful feedback from the popular chatbot. As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy is changing the way people seek mental health support. But can AI truly replace a human therapist Globally, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not receive it, with barriers (障碍) including cost and a lack of providers, according to Huntington Psychological Services, Daniel Lowd, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the lack of therapy services. “If people can find some support and opinions by talking to ChatGPT or chatbot Claude, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.
Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s needs for emotional support to some extent. By using basic knowledge of psychotherapy, DeepSeek can help with minor mental issues through comforting responses, Li told Shanghai Observer.
However, he points out that AI cannot completely replace professionals due to the human touch that is important for therapeutic services. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s emotions and needs through communication, which allows them to offer more tailored (有针对性的) treatment plans, Shanghai Observer reported.
The use of AI in psychotherapy also raises concerns over the reliability (可靠性) of responses. “AI chatbots will respond as therapists if asked, without any of the oversight (监督), training or responsibility of human counselor (顾问) or even a specialized (专业的) and tested piece of software,” Richard Lachman, an associate professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, told Newsweek.
Experts believe the key to effective AI therapy is proper government regulation (监管). Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapeutic conversations with an AI chatbot. In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its effects on human psychology means finding a balance between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous, Euronews reported.

When it comes to Chinese literature works about a mother’s love, few can compete with Tang Dynasty poet Meng Jiao’s poem Song of the Travelling Son. The poem presents a mother who sews clothes for her son by hand. Bathed in candlelight, she also worries about his travel away from home.
Meng’s description of the mother shows the composition of the earliest form of the Chinese character “劳”. Found on oracle bones (甲骨) from over 3,000 years ago, it was made up of two characters. There was “火 (fire)” on top and “衣 (clothes)” below, with three dots (点) that look like stitches. The lower part was later replaced by “力 (strength)” and a form symbolizing a house appeared above. The Analytical Dictionary of Chinese Characters explains the form as “When a house is on fire, it takes hard work to put it out.”
While the form of the character has been simplified, its meaning has expanded to refer to work, labor (劳动) or toil. It is also associated with feelings like fatigue (疲劳). Since ancient times, Chinese society has looked down upon those who sponge off others. In modern times, the idea that “labor is glorious (光荣的)” has taken root. People who work hard and make great contributions to their community or country are respected as model workers.
Since the 1980s, “劳” has become one of the five key qualities that China’s education system seeks to cultivate in students, along with “德 (virtue)” “智 (intelligence)” “体 (physical fitmess)” and “美 (appreciation for beauty)”. Primary and middle school students typically have at least one hour of“labor class” each week for labor theory and skills.
However, cognitive (认知的) labor and manual (体力的) labor are not always considered equal. As ancient Chinese philosopher Mencius said, “Those who labor with their minds govern (统治), while those who labor with their strength are governed.” Throughout history, many Chinese writers have had pity on people who worked hard to survive as poor farmers. In his poem Watching the Wheat Harvest, famous poet Bai Juyi expressed his shame at taking hundreds of kilograms of grain every year as his pay without doing any farm work.
No matter it is cognitive labor or manual labor, overwork can have serious results, which can cause illness or even death. To avoid such things, people are encouraged to achieve a balance between work and rest.

Inner painting, a kind of traditional Chinese art, is marked as a national intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产). Inner painting artists traditionally create works on the inner surface of the glass bottle by using special fine brushes that can enter the tiny bottles.
When we look at the inner painting of an object, we experience an indescribable beauty. The painting often symbolize people’s wishes for good luck and a happy life. The most marketable ones are landscapes, followed by flowers and birds.
The production of inner painting is difficult because it requires high precision (精确). During painting, there is no room for corrections. And a shaky hand leads to mistakes. Only those skilled and confident in their abilities can paint well. Most artists need to learn inner painting for years before creating great pieces.
Today’s artists are trying to make inner painting more popular in our lives. Some young artists make use of social media to help more people learn about inner painting skills. They use inner painting on everyday objects, like tea sets and folding screens as well.

【答案】One possible version:
The most valuable quality that I have
When it comes to the most valuable quality that I have, confidence always comes to my mind.
I was pretty excited when I was chosen to give a speech in front of the whole school. However, things didn’t go as smoothly as I had expected. I caught a bad cold a few days before the speech so that I hardly had time to read through my speech. Looking at the crowd, I felt like a fish out of water. At that moment, I noticed my teacher with a smile on her face in the crowd.
I suddenly remembered the words she told me, “Confidence is the first step on the road to success.” After taking a deep breath, I started my speech and successfully won a lot of praise in the end.
This experience gave me a sense of achievement. I have also learnt that being confident can help us get over difficulties more easily.
