本课时以促进学生学科核心素养发展为目标，围绕主题语境，基于语篇，设计了包括“描述优秀品质”“预测成功秘诀”“阐述成功原因”“讨论潜在阻碍”等涉及学习理解、应用实践、迁移创新不同层次的语言、思维、文化相融合的活动。
基于“六要素”整合的英语学习活动观
本课时所处单元围绕“成功”话题，构建起对成功的认知、态度和行为选择，形成“认识什么是成功”“探讨如何取得成功”“理解成功的深层含义”的单元框架。本课时为“探讨如何取得成功”层次，课程设计基于学生已了解成功含义的前提，并将为“理解成功的深层含义”做好铺垫。
指向深度学习的单元整体教学设计
本课时通过话题导入促使学生基于自身体验和已有知识生成意义、建构理解；在阅读文本获取信息的课堂活动中，教师以鼓励学生思考为主，提供适当支架引导学生在动态互动中实现发展。

本课属于人与自我主题语境下的“认识成功”内容，文本材料分为两部分。第一个语篇的内容是成功的五大秘诀，分别为be passionate, be confident, work hard, set your goal high and keep trying，讲述了五位成功人士所取得的辉煌成就及其取得伟大成就的途径。第二部分是一则对话，讲述了两人围绕一本“成功秘籍”的讨论，向读者说明做好充足准备、培养良好习惯、进行有效实践是实现成功的可行途径。

第一篇文本中作者通过介绍五位成功人士的经历，引导学生了解实现成功的方法和途径，鼓励其以有效的方式追求目标，实现人生价值；所选五位成功人士涉及作家、运动员、商人等多个领域，覆盖范围广，且在学生中有较高知名度，从而使文本更具说服力，更加可信，能够触动学生向榜样学习。第二篇文本使用真实对话语境，语言自然流畅，意在引导学生关注标记词的语用功能，从而学会在口语交际中向他人表达自己的兴趣，提升沟通质量。

【How】
第一篇文本为演讲，作者运用举例子、列数字、作比较等论证方法增强观点的说服力；采用总分总的结构，文章层次清晰、思路明确，且有主旨句支撑起文段结构，观点鲜明易懂；使用第二人称叙述，开头连用两个一般疑问句，迅速与听众拉近距离，增强感染力；第二篇文本为一则对话，语言风格偏向日常化，使用序数词连接观点，层次分明；使用大量标记语贯穿文本，使文本衔接自然流畅，贴合真实语境。

My third tip is: work hard. The “10,000-hour rule for success” states that you need to practise for a minimum of 10,000 hours. That’s about six hours a day for five years. Bill Gates is a good example. For about five years, when he was a teenager, he spent 10,000 hours working on a basic computer. His hard work gave him a big advantage over other people and he became one of the founders of Microsoft by the age of 20.
