Hey Berk, you’re totally right—giving answers isn’t fair. How’s her exam result If it is

handing over answers). Maybe she just needs support.

Bottle gourd (葫芦) pyrography (烙画) is an art of burning pictures on the surface of the gourds. The skill
dates back more than 2,200 years ago to the Qin Dynasty, but it was not until the end of the Ming Dynasty that the
art was first used to decorate gourds.
The gourd has long been considered to bring good luck. It was often used to store food or hold water when
people went out. Its shape made it a perfect tool in the past, In ancient times, many doctors used it to hold
medicine and hung it in front of their clinics (诊所). And the gourd has turned into a symbol of traditional Chinese
medicine.
Skilled artists can turn common gourds into artworks. The first step is to pick a golden gourd. Then the
artist draws a creative picture on the gourd. Finally, he usually takes advantage of the natural shape of the gourd,
burning the pictures with a heated tool. This is the most difficult step. If there is any mistake in this step, all the
work will go back to the beginning.
Niu Chengguo has taken up the gourd art for more than 40 years. He learned it from his grandfather. His
bottle gourd works are mainly about four plants. His handmade gift—a fire-painted bottle gourd had been given to
a special international guest. “The gourd pyrography is difficult with a pyrography brush to create a wonderful
picture and it requires skills in painting,” Niu said. “If you want to be a skilled artist, you need to...”

Today, microplastics (微塑料) can be found almost everywhere on Earth. Scientists have seen microplastic
pollution near the peak of Mount Everest, in the Mariana Trench and even in baby waste. But now, researchers
have found these tiny plastic particles (颗粒) in a new place: human blood.
The new research was published in Environment International on March 24. The scientists collected blood
samples from 22 healthy adults and found plastic particles in 17 of them. These particles were as small as 0.0007
mm. That is to say, each of them is about 140 times smaller than the width of a human hair.
Half the blood samples had PET plastic, which is usually used in drink bottles. One third had PS in them.
This type of plastic is often used in packing food and other products. And PE, which is used to produce plastic
bags, was found in a quarter of the blood samples. Researchers even found two or three different types of plastic
at the same time in some of the blood samples.
“It is certainly reasonable to be worried,” said study author Dick Vethaak. “The particles are there and are
being transported throughout the body.” As a result of his research, Vethaak has been cutting down on his own use
of plastics. He has also been covering his food and drinks to prevent plastics from directly entering them.
“The big question is, what is happening inside of our bodies ” said Vethaak. “Do the particles stay in the
body Are they being transported to the organs (器官) And are these levels high enough to cause diseases ”
52.How does the writer develop paragraph 2
A.By listing numbers. B.By comparing facts.
C.By giving examples. D.By raising questions.
53.What does the underline word “them” refer to in paragraph 3
A.blood samples B.PET plastic C.plastic particles D.drink bottles
54.What’s the main purpose of the passage
A.To introduce the different uses of PET, PS, and PE plastics in drink bottles.
B.To explain how microplastics enter the human body from the new research.
C.To tell people not to worry about the dangers of particles throughout the body.
D.To report the discovery of microplastics in human blood and discuss concerns.
55.What is the passage most likely to discuss next
A.Methods to reduce microplastic pollution in the ocean.
B.Detailed statistics about microplastics in Mount Everest.
C.Further research on how microplastics affect human health.
D.The history of plastic production and its usage from all over the world.

①In real life, babies can’t drive cars, and your classmate’s face may not appear in a movie. But with
deepfakes, these things are possible. Deepfakes are pictures or videos made by AI. They are fake (伪造的), but
they look just like real ones.
②“It’s fun and creative to use deepfakes,” says Will Gardner, an expert on child online safety. “But they
can be dangerous too.” Some deepfakes show people saying or doing things they never did. Others are used to
spread lies, fake news, or trick people into giving away money or personal information.
③________ One famous fake from history is a photo of the Loch Ness Monster (怪物) in 1934. It actually
showed a toy that moved underwater, with a scary sea monster’s head on the front. More recently, photos and
videos can be faked using computer programmes and apps. Now, the new AI tools make it easier to create fakes.
④Although deepfake technology is improving quickly, there are still signs to check whether a photo or a
video is fake or not. For example, in a video, if the person’s eyes never blink like real eyes do, or if their mouth
movements don’t match the words they are saying, we can know something is wrong.
⑤What’s more, if you think a photo might be fake, try uploading (上传) it on the Internet to find out where
it comes from. You might find the original photo which is unchanged. You can also read the comments (评论)
below it to see what other people think.
⑥What should you do about deepfakes If you see something that looks fake, talk to an adult you trust.
They can give you good advice. Fake photos or videos may cause harm when people share them a lot. So if
something seems mean or hurtful, the best choice is not to share it.

According to the Chinese Athletics Association (中国田径协会 ), a total of 133 marathons across the
country have been registered (注册) for the first six months of 2023. On March 26, more than 300,000 runners

Teenagers have also taken part in marathons. Xu Qian, a 15-year-old from Suqian, Jiangsu, loves running.
He won first place in the 5-kilometer Happy Run of the Jingdong Suqian Marathon held on April 2.
For Xu, the race meant months of training and preparation. He ran about 30-40 kilometers in local sports

“Unlike the 800-meter run at school which is more about speed, a marathon tests how much pressure a
runner’s body and mind can stand,” he told Teens.
When he felt tired during the race, he told himself not to give up. “In long-distance (长距离的) running, the
only person you have to compete against and beat is yourself,” Xu added.
Li Zhouzi from Chongqing took part in a 3-kilometer Kid Run of the Berlin Marathon in Germany in 2019
when he was 10. The support from the people cheering along the way really encouraged her.
“When things were hard, people from across the world cheered me on. Even if it was just the words, ‘keep

【答案】例文
In life, every challenge is like a mountain to be climbed. One such mountain I faced was losing a speech
competition I had prepared for months. To begin with, I was upset. However, it wasn’t the end.
To succeed in the next competition, I had a heart-to-heart talk with my parents. They encouraged me not to
give up and helped me figure out the problems. I realized I hadn’t practiced enough and lacked confidence. Then I
took action. I made a study plan and practiced English with my classmates daily. I also asked my English teacher
for advice and extra materials. Finally, I built up great confidence and succeeded.
This experience taught me valuable lessons. One the one hand, failure is not the end but an opportunity to
learn and grow. One the other hand, I learned the importance of planning ahead, working hard, and asking for help.
Now, I face challenges with a positive attitude, knowing every challenge or failure is a stepping stone to
success.

Hey Berk, you’re totally right—giving answers isn’t fair. How’s her exam result If it is
not good, explain that doing homework herself helps learning. Offer to guide her (without
handing over answers). Maybe she just needs support.

Been there! In primary school, a friend kept copying my work. We stopped being friends
over it. If you want to stay close, tell her copying is bad for her growth.
You can offer to study together like reviewing lessons.

A.A video that is created by AI. B.A photo that is taken with a camera.
C.An article that is written by AI. D.A movie that is made by a film maker.
57.What can be put in the ________ in Paragraph 3
A.Deepfakes are widely used in our daily life.
B.AI also helps people create many popular toys.
C.New technology brings both changes and challenges.
D.Faking photos isn’t new, and technology makes it simpler.
58.How can you check whether a photo is fake
A.Ask for your classmates’ ideas. B.Put it online to find where it is from.

Thousands of runners tied their running shoes and poured out from the starting line while crowds cheered
along the course (路线). Marathons (马拉松) in China are becoming popular again.
According to the Chinese Athletics Association (中国田径协会 ), a total of 133 marathons across the
country have been registered (注册) for the first six months of 2023. On March 26, more than 300,000 runners
took part in 26 marathon events around the country, reported China Daily.
He ran about 30-40 kilometers in local sports
centers each week ahead of the run.
Even if it was just the words, ‘keep
it up’, it meant a lot to me and I was inspired to keep going to the end,” Li told Teens.
She thinks she can learn a lot from running a marathon. “Similarly, our life is also a marathon,” Li said.

Zha 2, was released (发 布 ) in 2025. The movie brings more action, deeper emotions, and amazing pictures.
People love the film for its creativity and powerful storytelling.
Jiaozi’s journey to success was not easy. He studied medicine at college, but he loved animation so much
that he decided to change his career. However, this decision brought him quite a few difficulties. For example, he
had to learn how to make animated films, working hard to learn every detail. What’s worse, he couldn’t find a job
and had to ask for help from his mother for several years. Neighbors laughed at him, thinking of him as one of the
boomerang generation (啃老族), a loser in life.
Difficult as it was, Jiaozi never gave up. His first major film, Ne Zha, was released in 2019 and became a
huge success. It had exciting action, humor, and emotional depth. The film told Ne Zha’s story in a new way,
making it interesting for young people to watch. With Ne Zha 2 becoming the highest-grossing animated film in
history and ranking (排名) fifth among all films worldwide, Jiaozi has shown the world the power of Chinese
animation, inspiring (鼓舞) many young filmmakers.
Jiaozi’s story is one of passion (激情), perseverance (坚持), and creativity. He shows that with hard work
and love, dreams can come true. His journey from a self-taught animator to a world-famous director is an
