After DeepSeek’s success, a new Chinese AI product called Manus came out in March 2025. It quickly
became popular in the technology world. Developed by Monica, Manus is not just another chatbot. It acts like a
“digital worker” that can plan and do real-world tasks by itself. For example, when asked to make a travel guide
for Xinjiang, Manus can look for routes (路 线 ), book hotels, and make a PDF with maps and weather tips.
Different from DeepSeek, which focuses on solving maths problems or writing code like a “super brain,” Manus
pays more attention to action. It uses tools like web browsers (网页浏览器) to get results.
Manus is special because it can think, plan, and act like a human team. It divides complex tasks into steps,
such as building websites or analyzing (分析) data. A popular demo showed Manus creating a movie scene with
moving planets and making a website about AI history, with timelines and filters (过滤器). Users like its practical
uses, such as finding cheap housing in New York.
Manus is working with Alibaba’s Qwen model to make itself better. By using Qwen’s technology, it can
better do tasks like checking medical reports carefully. This cooperation wants to make Manus better for Chinese
users. Although it’s still being tested, over 2 million people are waiting to use it, showing great global interest.
Manus means a change from “thinking AI” to “acting AI”. Experts say it connects ideas and results,
making AI useful in daily life and industries like healthcare and education. While the U. S. leads in AI research,
China does well in turning new ideas into useful tools. Manus, like DeepSeek, shows this strength. But there are
still challenges, such as making it more correct and cheaper.

C.Act as a simple chatbot for conversations. D.Create a travel guide with maps and hotels.

A.Manus can answer questions faster. B.Manus is developed by an American company.
C.Manus focuses on taking actions. D.Manus is cheaper to use than DeepSeek.

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human Recently, China has made a big step
toward self-driving technology. 71 August, 2024, driverless taxis have run on roads in Wuhan,
Chongqing and Shenzhen.
Why do we develop self-driving cars
Self-driving cars bring us many benefits. They use computers to sense the things around them 72
make better use of space. This means 73 (few) traffic jams and better parking of cars. For disabled or
blind people, self-driving cars can also help them get around 74 (easy). According to official statistics
(统计数据), each year, more than 1.35 million people are killed on roads around the world, and more are injured.
It’s 75 (report) that self-driving cars reduce road accidents by 90 percent and save governments a lot of
money. The main cause of car accidents is human error (错误). By using computers, self-driving cars don’t make
poor 76 (decide) or lose focus like humans do.
But self-driving cars aren’t perfect. If something unexpected on the road 77 (happen),
self-driving cars can’t react (反应) as fast as a human driver could. Also, during weather events like heavy snow,
it’s hard for self-driving cars to see the lines on the road. It might lead to 78 accident. The car’s
computer system would be broken by someone, causing it to crash or change 79 (it) direction.
“It’s clear that there is still a long way to go to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight (景象) on

S. leads in AI research,

still challenges, such as making it more correct and cheaper.

“It’s clear that there is still a long way to go to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight (景象) on
our roads. And China is taking the lead in 80 (make) this happen,” said China Daily. We can expect to
see more self-driving cars on the road in the future.
