辨析since/because/as/for
这四个词都可表示原因,其用法如下:
(1)since侧重主句,从句表示显而易见的或已知的理由。
如:Since you have no money,you can't buy it.既然你没有钱,那就买不了它。
(2)because表示直接原因,常用于回答由why引导的特殊疑问句。
如:—Why is he crying?他为什么在哭?
—Because he fell down.因为他摔倒了。
(3)as表示看得到的原因,主从并重,从句说明原因,主句说明结果。
如:As it was late,they had to leave quickly.因为天晚了,他们不得不快点离开。
(4)for表示附带或补充说明的原因,引导的从句前常用逗号隔开,不用于句首。
如:I believed her,for she would not lie to me.我相信她,因为她不会向我撒谎。

1.down的用法
(1)作形容词时,意为“不高兴的;心情不畅的;伤心的”等,仅用于系动词后作表语。

(2)作介词时,意为“沿着……而下”。
如:The plane is flying down to the ground.飞机正在向地面俯冲。
(3)作副词时,意为“向下”。

如:She stuck to her idea.她坚持自己的想法。

1.prefer v.更喜欢
相当于“like…better”,其过去式和过去分词都是preferred。经常用到的句型有:
(1)prefer…to…与(做)某事相比,更喜欢(做)某事。
如:I prefer dogs to cats.与猫相比,我更喜欢狗。
I prefer walking to riding a bike.我喜欢步行更甚于骑自行车。
(2)prefer to do sth.更喜欢做某事。
如:I prefer to spend the weekend at home.我更喜欢在家里度过周末。
(3)prefer to do sth. rather than do sth.宁愿做某事而不愿做某事。
如:I prefer to write rather than read.我宁愿写而不愿读。
2.定语从句
定语从句在句中作定语,修饰名词、代词,被修饰的名词、词组或代词叫先行词。定语从句放在先行词后面,由关系代词(who,whom,whose,that,which)或关系副词(where,when,why)引导。who,whom和that这些词代的先行词是表示人的名词或代词,在从句中做主语或宾语。
which和that它们所代的先行词是表示事物的名词或代词,在从句中作主语或宾语等。
如:He is the man who wants to see you.他就是想见你的人。
He doesn't like the songs that are too long.他不喜欢太长的歌曲。
