According to a research, more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten food go to waste in Laura’
s city each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply. It is a sad fact, especially when you
consider how many families and homeless people are in hunger.
When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away food that was not eaten at all every day.
She came up with an idea. She started a project to help her school dining hall to give away uneaten
food to homeless shelters in her community. In the past three years, the same protect has spread to
other schools and some fast food restaurants throughout the city. The project is called Food &
Find and has already fed thousands of people in her city.
How does it work By using an app, Feed & Find matches local homeless shelters with
school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or
restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share the information about the food. A
truck driver working for the project is then sent to pick it up and take it to a shelter.
Pretty cool, right It’s not surprising that people in other cities have got in touch with Laura
in the hope that she could help develop similar projects for their communities.
Some people, however, have concerns about the safety of the uneaten food. They think such
food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food
waste and it helps those in need.

Writing by hand can give the brain bigger help than typing (打字), according to a new study.
The research was done by a team at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. People
were shown a word on a computer and asked to either write it on a touch screen or type it on a
keyboard.
The people wore machines on their heads fitted with 256 electrodes (电极) to record their
brains’ electrical activity. When they were writing, many areas of their brains were active,
including the parts that help us visualize what things look like. This is because writing a word by
hand requires people to picture letters and use fine sports skills to shape it. When people were
typing, however, there was little activity in the same parts of the brain.
“When you are typing, the simple movement of your fingers to produce every letter is the
same,” said the scientist in the study. “While you’re writing by hand, your bodily feeling of
producing A is different from producing B.”
The results suggest that writing can help children learn, especially when it comes to
recognizing (认识) letters. More research is needed to know whether writing by hand helps kids
remember things more than typing does.
66.How did the writer lead into the topic
A.By telling a story. B.By showing a study.
C.By giving an example. D.By asking a question.
67.What does the underlined word“ visualize”probably mean
A.Imagine. B.Hear. C.Feel. D.Smell.
68.What can we learn from Paragraph 3
A.Letter A is a lot different from Letter B. B.The movement of fingers is all the same.
C.The bodily feeling of each letter is different. D.It’s difficult to type a letter on the
keyboard.
69.What is the best title (标题) for the text
A.A Study Encourages Us to Type More Often B.A Study Shows Handwriting Dose Good
to Learning
C.A Study Shows the Importance of Our Brains D.A Study Suggests Handwriting Helps
with Remembering

The Chengui inkstone (砚台) is one of the “four famous inkstones” in our country. Wih a
history of over 1,000 years, the skill of making it had once been lost for hundreds of years and was

In 1986, Lin Yongmao worked at a museum, where he read many books on the Chengni
inkstone, and decided to bring it back to life. Although Lin Yongmao and his son learned from
historical papers, this was not an easy task. It took them two years to find suitable mud materials

his childhood. In 2011, he went abroad to study modern technologies. “Passing on the skill holds
the key to keeping it alive,” Lin Xiaolin said. So he returned to China after graduating from
college in 2019, hoping to create more great Chengni inkstones by using modern technologies and
traditional design (设计). He has had much success.
Lin Xiaolin is trying hard to bring new life to the Chengni inkstone and make it a symbol of
