On April 18th—the International Day for Monuments and Sites, China Daily’s digital employee Yuanxi and Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes’official virtual（虚拟的) cartoon figure Jiayao together introduced an interactive digital platform(数字化互动平台) that hosts a virtual copy of the Mogao Grottoes’ Library Cave to the world.

On the platform, visitors can role-play and “time travel” to ancient dynasties and talk with eight historical figures. The public can enter the platform through the Digital Dunhuang website and its WeChat mini program.
In the digital age, the model of “culture + technology” has been adopted to promote(促进) the development of Chinese culture. The digitalization rate of China’s precious cultural relics has been more than 70 percent, according to the 2022 China Digital Collection Industry Research Report released by iResearch.
Institutions(机构) such as the Palace Museum have also launched online digital services of their own. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology allows the public to view the interior of the buildings through the Palace Museum’s WeChat mini program.

January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named DeepSeek made a new AI system called DeepSeek-R1. This system is as powerful as the advanced chatbots from big companies like OpenAI and Google. Tests often used by American Al companies show that DeepSeek’s chatbot can answer questions, solve math problems and write code as well as other products on the market.
Moreover, this system costs much less to build. People used to think only big American tech companies could make the best AI systems, but now that idea is shown to be wrong.
