My name is Jenny. I’m a movie lover and I go to see movies very often. And I want my kids to like movies, too. I still remember the first time I took my daughter, May, to the movie theatre. At that time she was 6 and the movie we watched was Bambi. I chose it because I thought a cartoon movie would be good for her.
Everything was going just fine and Bambi was so lovely. However, when a man killed Bambi, my daughter became very sad and asked to go home. So we left in the middle of the movie. Later when I decided to take my daughter to the theatre, I chose movies more carefully and my daughter watched many great ones. Luckily, she likes movies as much as I do now.
However, I still worry. Are cartoons really safe for kids
Once I sat on the sofa. watching a cartoon with my 8-vear-old son. Nick. I was dumbfounded when I saw a cartoon character bleeding (流血) in front of us. The cartoon was like an action movie for adults!
So what I want to say is that the next time you take a kid to the movie theatre, be careful.
Maybe a cartoon isn’t the best. You should take the time to watch it first (it’s a habit of mine) or the kid may get messages he or she isn’t ready to get yet.

Birds are becoming popular as pets. To set up a better relationship with pet birds, it’s important for the owners to learn their language.
Bird’s beak is used mainly for eating and grooming. But a bird may click his beak once as a greeting, and several clicks can be a warning. Birds may sometimes bite, but it is difficult to know the reason behind it—maybe they bite to show anger or express fear.
Birds’ sound plays a very important role in communication. Singing is the sign of a happy bird, and many birds love to sing around others. They may also purr. Their purr sounds more like a low growl, and may indicate (暗示) annoyance. They also click tongues against their beaks, and this often indicates a desire to be picked up and petted.
Besides, birds can lift or open wings as a sign of happiness. But if they start opening and closing their wings, it may signal anger or pain. If a bird lets their wings hang by their side, he may be ill. Healthy adult birds will typically tuck (收拢) their wings against their bodies when they are at rest.
We can also read birds’ language by tail feathers. A bird may move his tail from side to side, which is called wagging, to express happiness. Happiness is also the emotion expressed by moving tails up and down. However, if a bird fans his tail feathers out, it usually shows anger or aggression.

A. In a film review. B. In a science report. C. In a travel guide. D. In an art magazine.

Zigong, in Sichuan Province, is home to Chinese lanterns. Zigong lanterns are known as the best lanterns in the world. The Zigong Lantern Festival dates back to the Tang Dynasty. The festival has developed quickly with traditional culture and modern technologies. In 2008, the Zigong Lantern Festival was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage (国家级非物质文化遗产), becoming a shining name card for Chinese to the world.
“It takes 17 steps to make a huge lantern,” said Wan Songtao, an inheritor (传承人) of Zigong lantern-making. “Each step is done by a team instead of a single maker,” Wan added. And unlike the lanterns in other places, Zigong lanterns use modern technologies such as AI, mechanical engineering and holography. They are perfect groups of lights, sounds and movements.
