When do we use the Simple Past Tense(一般过去时)
1) 当句中有明确表示过去的时间状语如:at 9 o'clock yesterday、last night、in 1998, two days ago等,要用一般过去时。
The train left at 8 o'clock this morning.火车今天早上 8 点离开了。She was on vacation last month.她上个月在度假。
2) 在讲述自己或他人过去的经历、故事时,通常使用一般过去时。
I climbed Mount Tai last year. It was an amazing experience.
我去年爬了泰山。那是一次很棒的经历。
3) 表示过去经常或反复发生的动作,常与 always、often、等频度副词连用。
He often played basketball after school when he was a student.
他当学生时经常放学后打篮球。

一般过去时和一般现在时的区别
用法
Try to review the grammar rules about simple past tense.
一般过去时:常与表示过去的时间状语连用,如last week 、yesterday、two days ago 、last month 等。
She watched an interesting movie yesterday.
她昨天看了一部有趣的电影。
一般现在时:常与表示现在的时间状语连用如 now、
every day等。
They go to school by bike every morning.
他们每天早上骑自行车去上学。

一般过去时:谓语动词使用过去式,没有人称和数的变化was和were除外
