Many teens in high school want to try out for sports. A lot of them try out because they think it will make them popular or get them more dates. While this may seem like a silly reason, there are lots of other benefits to sports that your children may fail to notice. Here are some reasons that you’ll find that your comforting.
With TV, movies, computers and video games becoming more and more popular, it has become so much easier for teens to be by themselves rather than going out with friends. Kids used to go hang out at the mall or drive around town; now they just sit at home. Getting your teens into a sport gives them a chance to go out and spend time with other people socially. While they may not find a new best friend, they will learn how to communicate with one another and work as a team and they’ll find something useful later in life.
One of the biggest problems in our society today is obesity, and it’s not just a problem with adults. More and more kids are becoming overweight. Joining a team sport will help teens get out and get some exercise without feeling pressured (有压力的) to lose weight or get in shape. What’s more, if your teens see that their physical condition is causing them to under-perform, they may be encouraged to do other activities to get healthy. By the time your children reach their teenager year, part of good parenting will be providing them with direction and encouragement and continuing to help them develop a healthy style of living.
These days, it’s becoming harder to show your teenagers that you love and support them. A great way to do this is by showing up to their game, helping them practice, and helping with team fundraisers (资金筹集者). These are also great ways to spend time with your kids and talk to them.
You may think “but my teen isn’t good enough to make their school team”. There are plenty of other places besides school to play team sports. You can always check out “for-fun” teams. You could look into more unknown sports that you may not have thought of, did you know that bowling is a NCAA team sports If you do a little research, you’re sure to find something your teen will enjoy.
Team sports are a great way for teens to get out of the house, get moving, make friends, and even get a scholarship to college. So why not talk to them about getting into sports today
30.From Paragraph 2, we know that ________.

D.teens prefer playing with friends outdoors to staying at home

Everyone wants to be happy, but what is the real secret of happiness Scientists and psychologists have studied this question for many years. Here are some of their findings.
Help Others
One of the easiest ways to feel happy is to help others. When you do something nice for someone, your brain produces a chemical called dopamine, which makes you feel good. Even small acts of kindness, like helping a classmate with homework or smiling at a stranger, can bring you happiness.
Be Grateful
Another way to be happy is to appreciate what you have. You can write down three things you are thankful for every day, such as a sunny day, a good meal, or time with friends. Studies show that grateful people are usually happier.
Spend Time with Friends and Family
People who have strong relationships with family and friends are often happier than those who don’t. Talking, laughing, and sharing your feelings with them can make you feel loved and supported.
Enjoy the Little Things
Happiness doesn’t always come from big achievements. Sometimes, it’s the small things that matter most. Listening to your favorite song, playing with a pet, or enjoying a warm cup of tea can all bring joy to your life.
Stay Active
Exercise is not just good for your body—it’s also great for your mood. When you play sports or take a walk, your body releases endorphins, which help reduce stress and make you feel happier.

Chinese cartoon (卡通) films are becoming famous around the world. The most popular one is Nezha. Nezha is a hero from old Chinese stories. And the movie Nezha2, which came out on January 29th, 2025, is a very successful one in Chinese film history. On February 18th, the film has become the highest-grossing (票房最高的) animated film in the world. Besides Nezha, other films like White Snake and Monkey King: Hero Is Back are also very popular.
Why do people make these films First, Chinese old stories are meaningful. They teach us about history, family love, and many good things. Cartoon films are a fun way to share these stories. Second, these films help people learn more about Chinese culture. For example, Hua Mulan is a famous girl in China. She joins the army instead of her father. And in the Hollywood film Mulan, she acts more like a “strong and brave” girl. It helps foreign (外国的) people to have a better understanding of the story.
Some people worry foreigners can’t understand the old Chinese stories well. But a Chinese film director said, “Good stories can touch everyone’s heart.” Take Nezha as an example. Maybe some people don’t know Nezha’s special tools, like his fire-and-wind wheels and magic scarf, but his brave and kind spirit can still make them feel moved or excited.
We look forward to having more wonderful Chinese cartoon films to tell good stories. We also hope more and more foreigners can know and be interested in Chinese culture.

Wondering the best time to visit Edinburgh Absolutely August!
Every August, Edinburgh hosts a three-week art festival—the Edinburgh International Festival Established in 1947, it’s one of the world’s oldest and largest international art festivals. During this time, Edinburgh becomes the “Capital of Art Festivals”. This year, its theme is “The Truth We Seek”, and on March 13th, the full list of 133 performances from August 1st to 24th was announced (宣布), including 7 world premieres (全球首演) by world-famous theaters.
Among these performances, the opera “Shan Hai Jing (山海经)” is a must-see. It was inspired by ancient Chinese myths like “Pangu Creating the World (盘古开天地)” and “Kuafu Chasing the Sun (夸父追日)”. Huang Ruo, a rising star in the world of opera, wrote the music. In 2022 when Shan Hai Jing made its premiere, it made a splash in the opera world.
What is really special is that the opera is directed (导演) by British puppet designer and puppeteer (木偶戏演员) Basil Twist. The opera uses puppets to vividly tell the stories of Pangu, Kuafu, Jingwei, and Houyi. It is a creative mixture of music and puppetry, exploring the complex relationship between humans and nature. Most of the music consists of percussion (打击乐) and vocals, with lyrics in Mandarin (普通话). It will be performed from August 14th to 16th.
In short, August in Edinburgh is full of cultural surprises, making it the best time to visit.
