When I was ten years old,my mother found a dog by the roadside that had been hit by a car.She
immediately took him to a vet as one of his back legs was badly hurt.His leg took some time to get better.
Since Mother could not find the dog's owner,we kept him and named him Chip.Chip and Mother were
always together.He was Mother's shadow and followed her everywhere.Whenever she left the house,he

One day,on our way to my grandparents'house for dinner,my mother stopped at a minimart."Mary,
let's buy some fruits for Grandma and Grandpa and a snack for Chip."Mother told me as she got out of
the car.I went along to take the chance to buy an ice cream for myself.Soon,we were on the road again.
Half an hour passed when mother asked suddenly,"Where is Chip "Chip was a quiet dog,so
nobody realized that he was not in the backseat.None of us remembered seeing him out of the car at the
minimart.
It was dark by then and raining very heavily.Worried sick,Mother decided to drive back to the
minimart.When she stopped in front of the store,she was shocked.There sat Chip,soaking wet,with
water dripping off his long ears.Mother rushed out of the car and quickly flew towards our pet.
"Goodness!"the minimart owner exclaimed when she saw us hugging and patting Chip."He must
have been waiting for you to return and has not moved from this spot even though it was raining."
That night,Mother gave Chip as many snacks as he could eat as a praise."I'm so glad that you are
safe and sound!"She said cheerfully.
