AI is also used in everyday life. You might have seen AI on your phone, like a voice assistant that answers your questions or a music app that suggests songs you might like. Some people even use AI to create art or write stories.
However, AI is not perfect. It needs a lot of data (数据) and programming to work well. It also needs humans to guide it, because AI can’t think or make decisions on its own.
In the future, AI will keep getting smarter and more helpful. It will change the way we live and work, making our lives easier and more interesting.

“You always mess things up.” “What a stupid thing to do!” Have you ever said these things to yourself The inner critic (批评) is that kind of voice inside your head saying you are not good enough—it always judges (评判) you.
Inner critics develop for different kinds of reasons. The most common one is that this voice of self-doubt comes from things we heard as kids. If parents often put themselves or their children down, those hurtful words can stick. For example, if a mom talks about her weight a lot, her daughter might think the same way about her own body. Similarly, if a parent is not satisfied with the child’s grades, that child might end up giving himself up on schoolwork.
Under the inner critic lies vulnerability (脆弱), and our critics often develop as an unusual form of self-protection. Imagine coming home excited about winning a drawing competition, only to be laughed at by your elder brother. The next time you achieve something, you might be unwilling to share it—or worse, not even know your success.
The inner critic makes an effort to protect us from painful experiences. It keeps us small, shy, and always looking for ways to prevent shame and failure. As a part in need of care, the inner critic wants to be heard and befriended.
To heal (愈合) the hurt, it’s important to first realize the inner critic. When you hear a voice in your head suggesting you shouldn’t try because you’ll only fail, face it and say: “Oh, my critic is here!” Indeed, it is part of us and isn’t going away, but doing this can create some space between you and the critic.
Once you can see the inner critic bravely, you will get better from the hurt behind negative (消极的) self-talk. Parenting experts suggest getting down on the child’s level when providing support. This works for the inner critic too. You might say, “It’s okay to feel scared sometimes. There’s no need to run away from it!” or “We all make mistakes though.”
Only by befriending your inner critic can you start to heal from. the pain and fear behind its voice. It takes time and patience, but it’s worth it. Give it a try!

① From social relationships to work difficulties, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek on different personal matters. They describe their thoughts and receive helpful ideas from the popular chatbot. As a rising choice on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people look for mental health support. But can AI truly take the place of a human therapist
② Across the world, 45 percent of people in 2024 did not receive mental health care because of problems like cost and a short of therapists. Daniel Lowd, a professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the short of therapy services. “If people can find some support and solutions on mental health by talking to ChatGPT or other chatbots, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.
③ Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s needs for mental support in a way. By using simple mental therapy, DeepSeek can help with small mental problems through comforting replies, Li told Shanghai Observer.
④ However, he points out that AI cannot completely take the place of doctors because of the human touch which is important for mental therapy. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s feelings through communications, which allows them to offer more therapy plans.
⑤ The use of AI in mental therapy also raises worries over its reliability (可靠性).”AI chatbots will give answers as therapists, but without any of the training from a human expert or a tested app,” Richard Lachman, a professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, told Newsweek.
⑥ Experts believe the key to believable AI therapy, first of all, lies in proper government regulation (监管). Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapy replies by working with an AI chatbot. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its work on humans’ mental feelings means finding a way between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous, Euronews reported.

D.The Chinese government will make laws against online Af therapy.

The police have many ways of catching criminals. One way of catching them is by fingerprinting (指纹). Fingerprinting is the study of the patterns on our fingertips. We have known that no two fingerprints are exactly the same for hundreds of years. However, it wasn’t until 1910 that the first criminal in the USA was convicted (被判有罪) using fingerprint evidence.
Early on the morning of September 19, 1910, Hiller’s wife noticed that the light which they usually left on was off. When Hiller went to find out what was happening, he saw a stranger at the top of the stairs. The stranger had broken in and wanted to steal something. Hiller and the stranger started to fight, but the stranger had a gun. He shot Hiller twice and ran away.
Hiller’s wife ran to Hiller when she heard the gunshots but found him dead. So she called the police. Soon after, the police caught Thomas Jennings, not far from the Hillers’ house.
The only problem was that no one saw the criminal. However, the police had started using fingerprinting at that time. According to Hiller’s wife, only several hours before Hiller’s death, he had painted some wood near the kitchen window. Then the police checked the wood completely and found some fingerprints in the wet paint.
During the trial (审判), the police proved that the fingerprints belonged to Jennings, and he was convicted of Hiller’s murder. Since then, fingerprinting has helped in the conviction of hundreds of thousands of criminals.

①Have you heard of mourning (悼念) technology
②Last night is really unusual for me. I couldn’t imagine I could speak to my parents. And for a moment I even forgot I wasn’t really speaking to real them, just their virtual images (虚拟形象). In fact, both of my parents are still alive and well. But the virtual images could help me understand the technology, which is an APP created by a company called Here After AI.
③Mourning technology can let you communicate with the people you have loved but lost. This used to appear in science fiction. But now it has come into our real life. Maybe it sounds some scary, but it’s not difficult to see that more and more people might turn to the virtual images for comfort.
④However, there is still something imperfect. These virtual images are just facades (表象), but in fact they don’t know anything about you. Anyone who talks to them can get almost the same answer. The biggest problem with the technology is that you can’t create a person who is only right for you.
⑤A virtual image that can hold more conversations with you helps make you feel connected to the person you loved but lost. But a sad person needs to know that only a small part of a person can be captured (捕捉) by these images instead of replacing healthy, normal human relationships.
⑥At the same time this also brings other risks when creating a virtual image, such as moral (道德) problems. Some may think that it’s less important to a person who is already dead. But what if the person isn’t actually dead Should he or she have a say, too
⑦If virtual images really come fully into our lives, there’s no doubt that we need new rules about what we leave online. But if we deal with the possibility of misusing virtual images before, rather than after, they are widely used, our lives will be better.
⑧Luckily, I still have the valuable chance to spend more time with my father and mother, face to face, without technology.
32.What does the write think of mourning technology

I had been looking forward to the school Halloween party for weeks. I spent a lot of time thinking about what to be. I finally decided on a ghost (幽灵). It was the perfect costume (服装) because it covered my whole face, and I didn’t have to worry about people staring at me.
When I got to the party, I saw lots of other ghosts. It was like a sea of white sheets (床单). I felt a little less nervous when I saw that. I could hide among them easily.
We played games like bobbing (快速地上下移动) for apples and pin the tail on the donkey. I was really good at bobbing for apples. I won three times in a row! “Well done, August!” Everyone cheered for me, and I felt like I was just like everyone else.
We also played a game to guess who was who under the costumes. It was so much fun! I guessed a few people right, and they guessed me too. It was cool to see how well we all knew each other, even with our faces hidden.
But the best part was the costume competition. I thought I would win because my ghost costume was so simple and clever. But then I saw Jack Will dressed as a robot. His costume was amazing! It had flashing lights and everything. I knew I didn’t stand a chance.
Jack won the competition. Everyone clapped and cheered for him. I felt a little disappointed, but Jack came over and said, “You did great too, August. Your ghost costume was really cool.” I smiled and thanked him.

①In the story Snow White, the queen decides to kill Snow White with an apple with deadly poison (毒药). Thanks to some helpful dwarfs and a handsome prince, Snow White recovers, and everyone lives happily ever after.
②But the queen didn’t need to go to all that trouble. In fact, apples—along with many common fruits we eat—are already poisonous!
③Apple trees belong to a plant family. This group also includes peaches and cherries. The seeds (种子) and pits (核) of all these fruits have a chemical called amygdalin (苦杏仁苷). Inside an animal’s stomach, amygdalin turns into a strong poison called cyanide (氰化物). Cyanide can make people and animals very sick, or even kill them.
④However, don’t worry if you eat a few apple seeds by chance. Each seed has only a little poison. You’d have to eat a large bowl of seeds to feel any effect. Bes des, you’d need to chew (咀嚼) them well—the hard, shiny coating of apple seeds keeps the poison locked inside.
⑤Uneaten seeds usually pass right through and come out whole in your waste. But cows and other animals often chew them up along with the fruit, so they can get sick from eating apples and peaches that fall to the ground.
⑥Why would a tree make poisoned seeds To stop animals from eating the seeds, amygdalin tastes terrible. It’s also found in leaves and other parts of fruit trees. If a cow chews on apple leaves, it experiences an awful taste and an upset stomach. So animals soon learn to leave those trees alone. Thanks, amygdalin!
⑦Want to try it You can bite (咬) into an apple seed, and you’ll notice an awful taste. That’s the amygdalin. The apple tree doesn’t want you to chew up its seeds. It wants you to spit (吐) them out, so they can grow into new trees.
⑧Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the cleverest fruit of all
32.Why does the author mention the story of Snow White in Paragraph 1
A.To compare fairy tales with science facts. B.To question the queen’s actions.
C.To catch readers’ interest and introduce the topic. D.To explain why apples are special.
33.Which of the following can match the information in Paragraph 3
A. B.
C. D.

Electrical devices (电子仪器) could soon use power made by human energy. Scientists say they have developed an experimental device that produces electricity from the physical movement of a person walking.
British scientist Max Donelan and other scientists in Canada and the United States developed the device. The device connects to a person’s knee. As the person walks, the device captures (捕捉) energy each time the person slows down. To do this, the device helps with the slowing down movement of the leg. The movements of the walking person push parts of a small machine that produces electricity. Using the device, an adult walking quickly could produce thirteen watts of electricity in just a minute. Donelan says walking at that speed could produce enough power to operate a laptop computer for 6 minutes.
▲ Developers say it could help people who work in areas without electricity to operate small computers. The device could also be used in hospitals to operate heart pacemakers (起搏器) . It could even be used to assist in the movement of robotic arms and legs.
The experimental version (版本) of the device weighs about 1.5 kilograms, but it is too costly for most people to buy. But the researchers hope to make a lighter, less expensive version. An improved version should be ready in one year. The developers hope the device will one day help developing countries. Nearly 25 percent of people around the world live without electric power.

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is a type of technology that makes computers and machines act smartly, just like humans. Imagine a robot that can talk to you, play games, or even help you with your homework.
That’s AI in action! AI can do many things, like recognizing (识别) faces, understanding languages, and solving problems.
One of the most amazing things about AI is that it can learn from lots of information. For example, doctors can use AI to help diagnose (诊断) illnesses by looking at medical images. AI can also drive cars safely by understanding the road and traffic rules.

32.________ is getting popularity among people in China according to Paragraph One.
A.Medicine B.AI mental treatment
C.Health care D.Human therapy
33.What can we infer from the passage
A.The ill failed to get medical treatment because of a short of money.
B.The hospitals may try doctor-AI service to better advise patients.
C.The AI chatbots haven’t gone through trainings or professional tests.
D.The Chinese government will make laws against online Af therapy.
34.Which of the following shows the structure of this article
A. B. C. D.
35.Which of the following may the writer write about in the next paragraph
A.The spread of Wysa app into China after its success in the UK.

In Hechuan District of Chongqing lies Diaoyu City, a special place with a great story, Diaoyu City was built during the Southern Song Dynasty (朝代). It is famous because the people there were very brave and changed history.
There are three rivers around Diaovu City: the Jialing River, the Qujiang River, and the Fujiang River. Diaoyu City is on a high mountain which rises about 400 meters high, and its sides are very steep (陡峭). This made Diaoyu City very strong and hard to attack.

①Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes(极端)to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.
②Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets(日常饮食)that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live
③Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of falls. Some even wear tight(紧的)clothes that influence blood circulation(循环)making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health
④Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material they use is usually harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money
⑤So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly. What subject do you worry about the most at school Many students worry about math. Some students can’t sleep well the day before a math exam. Others may feel very nervous during the exam itself. But there might be a way to make the subject less stressful.
“For students who are worried about math, posture (姿势) makes a big difference,” Erik Peper, a researcher from a university told Daily Mail. That’s right—sitting up straight can help you do better in math exams.
Researchers tested 125 college students. They asked them to do a math exam while sitting in a slumped-over (趴倒的) position, or sitting up straight. After the test, 56% of the students said the exam was easier to do if they were sitting up straight.
Slumping over is a defensive (防备的) posture. It can bring out negative (消极的) memories in the body and brain. This can stop you from thinking clearly, Peper said.
Students who were not nervous about taking the math exam didn’t necessarily benefit (受益) from better posture. But they did find that doing math in a slumped-over position was more difficult, Science Daily reported.
Good posture isn’t just helpful for taking math exams. Musicians, sports players and public speakers can all benefit from it. When you feel stressed out, you can also try to sit up straight or stand tall. It can help you feel more positive (积极的) and focus better.

Recently, a fashion industry event has kicked off in Beijing. The China Fashion Week A/W 2024, running from March 23 to 31, brings together more than 170 designers and brands, showing the cream of the country’s fashion talent. The designer Zhang Xiaoqi, who presented a wedding dress collection inspired (赋予灵感) by Miao culture, opened the event.
Showing the beauty of traditional Chinese wedding customs and traditional aesthetics (美学), the idea comes from the legend of “Mother Butterfly” among the Miao people.
“I learned the legend of Mother Butterfly when I was collecting materials in Guizhou and Hunan Provinces. The story is so beautiful. And I was also impressed (给……留下深刻印象) by the rich culture of the Miao people, as well as their natural talent for singing and dancing. Therefore, I decided to use these parts in my designs,” said the designer.
In fact, traditional and modern parts can work together. For this collection, Zhang has combined traditional Chinese parts with the modern fashion to show the special beauty of traditional Chinese culture. He also used traditional methods like embroidery (刺绣) to create fine patterns. Undoubtedly, using traditional parts in modern designs adds a new period to his career and sets high standards in the fashion world.

① AI (artificial intelligence 人工智能) and machine learning refer to the ability of machines to learn and act intelligently. It means they can make decisions, finish tasks, and even tell the possible future results based on what they learn from data (数据).
②AI and machine learning already play a bigger role in everyday life than you might imagine. Health care, banking, video games, every search on the Internet you make ..., all are driven by AI.
③AI is going to change almost every field of modern life. Stephen Hawking said, “Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history.” And Hawking added at once, “Unluckily, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks.”
④____▲____, especially when you consider some countries are racing to develop AI-enabled autonomous weapons (人工智能自主武器). It is also going to change and take the place of many human jobs. The same worries also come from the public. According to the survey result from Centre for the Governance of AI, 91% of the people (tend to and totally) agree that “AI is a technology that requires careful management” in Europe.
⑤But rather than agreeing with an idea of a helpless future where all human jobs are given over to robots, some people believe AI will make our working lives better. It will improve the work of humans, and new jobs will appear to take the place of the old ones.
⑥ What’s more, machines become more intelligent and they are able to finish more human tasks. Things which only belong to humans like creativity and critical (批判性的) thinking will become even more valuable in the future.
⑦Like it or not, AI is here. Maybe changing ourselves and managing it well are the best way out. Just as Benjamin Franklin once said, “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished.”

Nowadays, being famous and successful is changing quickly. Social media has become a new way for young people to become known as online influencers (网红). A recent survey showed that children would rather be online influencers than astronauts.
But is being an online influencer a good job The lifestyles we see on social media seem enticing, but under the shining appearance lie problems like not having a certain pay, the control of algorithms (算法), physical and mental health problems. Let’s take a deeper look into it.
Successful influencers may tell you that anyone can succeed in this industry. However, an expert says, “There’s a huge income gap between successful influencers and everyone else. For most people who want to be an influencer, the creative work they love to do usually ends up being unpaid work for companies.”
__________ Influencers are often controlled by computer programs called algorithms. They decide which post is shown to users and in what order. Social media platforms (平台) don’t share much information about these algorithms, but they are the one to decide who and what becomes popular on social media. This lasting fear of not being seen makes influencers feel uncertain. They are always under pressure to create new content for these platforms. If they don’t, the algorithm might “punish” them by hiding their posts or making them less visible in search results. Always being online is a big problem for influencers because it can cause mental health problems. They have to work and talk to their fans at any time of a day or night. In addition, they are scared of being judged online, which leads to mental and physical health.
Even though being an influencer seems attractive to many people, the challenges and downsides of the job are usually hidden and not easy to see to the outside world.
