①In the Yellow River Basin (流域), scientists studied how human activities influence nature. They looked
at the area from 2001 to 2020 and found some interesting results. Though human activities increased in 66.3% of
the area, the quality of nature actually got improved by 22.61%. That is to say with the right actions, we can better
nature even when there are more people and more human activities.
②One interesting finding was that some farmland was turned back into natural land. Because of the
government’s nature-friendly program “Grain for Green”, people are encouraged to plant more trees and grass
instead of growing crops. This added 15.994 square kilometers of natural land. The change helped to make the air
fresher, the water cleaner, and the homes for animals better.
③Another interesting finding was that 45.88% of the area had both more human activities and better nature
at the same time. This proves that humans and nature can develop together if humans make good choices, such as
recycling rubbish and saving energy.
④The study showed that the wild nature in 33.7% of the Yellow River Basin also improved a lot. People
started wetland protection activities and the area of wetland became 8.3square kilometers larger. Many

Have you ever wondered how to make your sleep more restful Sleep scientist Dr. Rebecca Spencer has
spent 10 years studying this question. She explains, “Modern life—with its man-made lights, screens, and 24-hour
schedules—has disrupted (打乱) our natural sleep patterns.” Studies show Americans now sleep one hour less per
night than in the 1940s. This loss harms both physical and mental health. “When we’re tired,” says Dr. Spencer,
“we can’t deal with pain well, connect with others, or even think clearly.”
Sleep isn’t just about how much you get—quality matters too. The most important stage is deep sleep.
During this stage, the brain produces slow, powerful waves called delta waves (δ波 ).These waves help store
memories, repair cells, and keep clear thinking. Sadly, deep sleep gets less with age. “Delta waves act like a
marker of youth,” Dr. Spencer notes. “When we lose delta waves, it’s harder to learn and stay healthy.”
To improve deep sleep, Dr. Spencer tried countless methods, but saw little success. Then, she met Dr.
Dmitry Gerashchenko, a Harvard researcher. He shared a German study showing that playing certain sounds
during sleep could increase delta waves. “These sounds,” Dr. Gerashchenko explains, “match the brain’s rhythm
(节奏) in deep sleep, helping it produce more refreshing (恢复精神的) waves.”
The team designed an experiment. The volunteers wore sensors (传感器) to check their deep sleep, and soft
sounds were used during the experiment. Even though they didn’t notice the sounds, their brains produced
stronger delta waves. “The results were clear,” says Dr. Spencer. “This method helped people sleep more deeply
without waking them up.”
While the technology is still developing, it offers hope. Imagine a small device helping you wake up full of
energy! For now, Dr. Spencer advises: reduce screen time before bed, avoid exciting exercise and create a calm
sleep environment.
22.According to Dr. Spencer, what is a major cause of disrupted sleep patterns in modern life
A.Lack of exercise. B.Increased work pressure.
C.Poor eating habits. D.Man-made lights and screens.
23.How are delta waves good for the brain during deep sleep
A.They help people fall asleep quickly.
B.They improve memory and cell repair.
C.They make people feel less tired during the day.
D.They slow down the brain’s activity.
24.What was special about Dr. Gerashchenko’s method to improve deep sleep
A.It required volunteers to change their sleeping time.
B.It required exercise regularly before going to bed.
C.It used certain sounds matching the brain’s rhythm.
D.It focused on reducing screen time completely.
25.Why does the author mention “a small device” in the last paragraph
A.To warn about using machines too much.
B.To explain why natural sleep is important.
C.To show problems with today’s technology.
D.To describe how sleep improves in the future.

Tea is more than leaves in water—it’s a mirror of Chinese values. When you hold a teacup, you’re not just
drinking a beverage—you’re tasting 5,000 years of wisdom.
A Gift from Nature: Harmony (和谐) with the World
For thousands of years, tea has symbolized China’s connection to nature—tea grows in mountains, rain,
and soil, showing how humans and nature depend on each other. 26
Tea and Philosophy (哲学): Wisdom in Every Cup
Daoism (道家) sees tea as a way to calm the mind, like a quiet mountain stream. Confucianism uses tea
ceremonies to teach respect: pouring tea for others shows kindness, while sipping (啜 饮 ) quietly shows
self-control. 27
Tea as Friendship: Building Trust
28 Hosts serve guests tea as a welcome sign, saying, “You are like family to me.” Even strangers
become friends over a cup of tea. The phrase “using tea instead of wine”—shows that sincere feelings matter
more than fancy drinks.
29
Young people now explore “tea art” workshops, blending old rituals (茶道) with new styles. 30
But the essence of tea isn’t changing. Whether in a grandparent’s teacup or a student’s bubble tea, the spirit of
Chinese tea culture lives on.
A.Tea and Art: Beauty in Water
B.In China, sharing tea means sharing trust.
C.Tea Today: Tradition Meets Modern Life
D.Popular tea shops mix tea with milk or fruit.
E.These traditions turn a simple drink into a lesson about life.
F.Tea is completely different from what it was, and it’s just a kind of drink.
G.So, today, drinking tea reminds people to respect and protect the environment.

Because of the

instead of growing crops. This added 15.994 square kilometers of natural land. The change helped to make the air
fresher, the water cleaner, and the homes for animals better.

at the same time. This proves that humans and nature can develop together if humans make good choices, such as
recycling rubbish and saving energy.

started wetland protection activities and the area of wetland became 8.3square kilometers larger.

D.To describe how sleep improves in the future.

【答案】例文
Dear Jack,
I’m very happy to receive your email. Now let me tell you how I prepare for the senior high school
entrance examination.
As for the words, I remember them every day. I read them aloud every day and remember the spelling at
the same time. Then our teacher will have a dictation every day to check whether we remember the words or not.
As for reading, we do some reading practice every day. Not only should we know the answer to the question, but
we should also know why we choose the answer. As for writing, our teacher often gives us some topics to write
about, and then she will correct our mistakes. As for listening, I think I’m poor in listening, because we lack the
language environment and listening materials to practice.
How do you prepare for your exam Can you tell me
Yours,
Li Hua
