情态动词 could 的用法
情态动词 could 构成的句型用于向对方委婉地提出请求或征求对方的许可。它本身不能做谓语，只能和动词原形一起构成谓语。
1. 用于委婉地请求别人做某事（提出请求）
常用句型 Could you ( please ) do sth.
肯定答语 OK./Certainly./Of course./With pleasure./
No problem./Yes, sure.等
否定答语 Sorry, I can’t. I have to…/I’m afraid not./ I’m afraid I can’t. I am going to…等

【注意事项】
回答时：在回答用 “could” 提出的请求时，通常不用 “could” 而用 “can”。
例如对于 “Could I have a look at your book ” 可以回答 “Yes, you can.” 而不是 “Yes, you could.” 语气态度：使用 “could” 只是让请求更礼貌，但仍要注意说话时的语气和态度，面带微笑、语调温和会让你的请求更易被接受。
例如：Could I stay up a little later to finish this movie
我可以晚点睡把这部电影看完吗？
肯定回答：Yes, you can. But don't stay up too late.可以，但别熬太晚。
否定回答：No, you can't. You have to get up early tomorrow.不行，你明天得早起。

都有“借”的意思，但含义和用法不同。
★ borrow表示“借入”，把本来不属于自己的东西借来暂时使用，常与介词from连用。如：You can borrow a book from the library. 你可以从图书馆借一本书。
★ lend表示“借出”，把属于自己的东西借给别人暂时使用，常与介词to连用，也可以跟双宾语。
如：He’s going to lend his bike to Tom.
