Making new friends can be difficult, especially if you are a child in a new neighborhood. It may seem like everyone else has a friend to sit with or to talk to. Don’t worry; if you’re a nice person, you can make friends too.
Step 1. Decide what kind of people you want to play with. Choose (选择) wisely, because you’ll probably become like them. Pick children who are nice to other people.

One sunny afternoon, Uncle Tom sang a song about heaven with little Eva in the garden. “I see angels in my dreams,” Eva said softly, pointing to the sky. “I’ll go there soon.”
Tom’s heart felt heavy. Eva looked pale these days—always tired, breathing fast, and coughing often. Miss Ophelia noticed too. “The child needs a doctor,” she told Eva’s father—Mr. St. Clare. “Stop!” St. Clare replied. “She’s just growing taller.”
As Eva’s health got even worse and she couldn’t leave the house, St. Clare sent her to the hospital finally. In a week or two, it seemed Eva was better. He smiled, “See She’s fine now.” Miss Ophelia shook her head quietly.
That evening, Eva hugged her father. “I must leave you soon,” she whispered, tears falling.
“Don’t say that!” St. Clare held her small hands. “You’ll get well soon.”
“No, Papa.” Eva looked at him sincerely. “I’m not afraid of death. But I worry about our slaves (奴隶). I wish they were free.”
St. Clare frowned. “We treat them kindly.”
“Kindness isn’t freedom. There are very few men like you. Some people buy the husbands but not the wives, some people buy the mothers and sell the children.” Eva answered. “Promise me—free Uncle Tom when I...sleep.”
St. Clare’s face turned pale. “The law allows us to own slaves...” He stopped, seeing her tears.

Nowadays, most people may think twice before picking up calls from unknown numbers. However, 8.1 million people around the world are waiting for calls from strangers because they are volunteers for Be My Eyes.
Be My Eyes is a free app created in 2015. It connects blind and low-vision (低视力) users with volunteers through live video calls, allowing them to get real-time help with everyday tasks. The founder used to worry about how to find enough volunteers. But today, volunteers outnumber blind and low-vision users by ten to one.
It’s not easy for volunteers to get a call. Zhang Yanfei joined Be My Eyes in 2019 but didn’t receive her first call until four years later. Calls go out to many volunteers at the same time. If one doesn’t answer immediately, another volunteer will take the call.
Dick also signed up and received his first call the next day. An old sad woman was on the other end-she had dropped her ring on the floor. Dick patiently guided her to move her phone so that he could see the floor clearly. When they finally found the ring, there was a sound of relief from the woman. “This made me realize how important the call is for people. I feel great to help someone like that”, Dick explained.
Tesha, blind for 13 years, always uses Be My Eyes. From cooking, cleaning to packing for her travels, the Be My Eyes volunteers are always there to help her. To her, making a Be My Eyes call is more than just getting help. The short connection with another person during the call makes her feel better.
Be My Eyes builds a community of kindness and support around the world. Life sometimes seems hard. That’s why we need to step in and help each other!

Many factors can affect a good night’s sleep—from work stress and family responsibilities to illnesses. It’s no wonder that quality sleep is sometimes difficult to get. 31 However, you can develop habits that bring you better sleep.
Stick to a sleep schedule.
Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even at the weekend. Of course, it’s natural to have nights when you stay up later than usual, whether you’re preparing for the next morning or having fun at a party. 32 But try to go to bed at your usual time the following evening.
33
Don’t go to bed hungry or on a full stomach. Remember to avoid heavy or large meals within a couple of hours of bedtime. Don’t smoke or drink alcohol (酒) either. Even though alcohol might make you feel sleepy at first, it can stop you from sleeping later in the night.
Get up when you can’t sleep.
On some nights, it can be difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. 34 If you toss and turn for 20 minutes or more, get out of bed and do something relaxing like reading a book or listening to music. Then return to bed and try again.
Include physical activity in your daily routine (常规).
A daytime routine is just as important as a bedtime routine. Including physical exercise into your routine can help you feel more tired at night and promote better sleep. You can spend some time outside every day. 35
A.It’s OK if you stay up late sometimes.
B.Stress management might help you.
C.Pay attention to what you eat and drink.
D.However, avoid being active just before bedtime.
E.Maybe you can’t control the factors that affect your sleep.
