The Hunter ran after him for some little distance; but it soon dawned upon him that he had been tricked, and he gave up trying to overtake the Horseman, and, to save his face, called after him as loud as he could, “All right, sir, all right, take your hare: it was meant all along as a present.”

How different can cultures be People from different cultures can eat different kinds of foods and live in different kinds of houses. They probably speak different languages and have different beliefs and customs. But guess what They can also be similar in ways you might not expect. The similarities between cultures connect people and help them communicate.
We sometimes call these ways of communication universal (全世界的) languages. Strictly speaking, they’re not languages but ways of sharing thoughts and ideas. And some of them allow people of different backgrounds to communicate and share emotions and feelings.
For example, some people believe music is a universal language. There must be some scientific support for this idea, too. Experts have learned that across cultures, people can notice three common emotions in music—happiness, sadness and fear.
Music may even be able to bridge the differences not only between people of different cultures but also between people and other living things. Music has proved to have a good influence on all kinds of animals.
Some people believe dance is also a universal language. Along with music, dancing seems to be a common interest shared by people all over the world. Do you think you could see a dance from another culture and make some reasonable guesses about the ideas and emotions behind it Of course, you could!
Another universal language that you might not think of is maths! If you think about it now, it just makes sense. The value of pi (圆周率) is around 3.14159, no matter where you are on the Earth!

But as I had been to the orphanage and had seen all the work that needed to be done, I knew how useful that money could be. It was far more important for the charity than it could ever be for me. However, the Penguin Foundation tells them that the sweaters are only used for a short time. They will be taken off when the penguins grow back as usual.Know more

①The Zhuang People’s Folk Song Festival is also known as Sanyuesan Festival. Last month, I had the chance to celebrate it in a small town in Guangxi.
②Early in the morning, people in traditional clothes got together in the town square. The festival began with a lively dance show. People held hands, forming circles and moving with the rhythm (节奏) of drums. Some even danced between bamboo sticks (棍子) — it looked difficult but fun! After that, groups of people sang folk songs. Their voices mixed beautifully, showing love and nature.
③Of course, food was everywhere! Families shared plates of colorful “five-coloured sticky rice (糯米饭)” made with natural dyes (染料) from plants. The five colors of sticky rice mean good luck and health. I tried a sweet rice cake wrapped in leaves — it tasted like a mix of sugar and flowers.
④By evening, lanterns made the streets bright. Kids laughed while playing games, and elders chatted happily. I learned this festival was not only about singing and eating, but also about keeping traditions alive.
⑤I left with a full stomach and a heart full of memories. The Zhuang Peoples Folk Song Festival taught me how Guangxi’s culture is as colourful as its rainbow-coloured rice!
