So today is a big day for me, but it started really badly. When I was having breakfast at home, my phone
rang. “Hello! Is that Tom ” It was Luke, a new boy in my class.
I tried to reply, but my throat just closed up completely and all that came out was a choking (哽住) sound.
And then I heard someone laughing on the phone. It sounded like Ryan, a boy in my class who often made fun of
me. I hung up. I was sure they called me just to laugh at me. OK, I wouldn’t let them make me feel bad today.
Unluckily, when it was my turn to give the speech in the afternoon, I was so nervous that I chose the wrong
music on my phone. Instead of relaxing music, I had dance music on my headphones. The result was that it
sounded like I was rapping (说唱). When I finished, my classmates all stood up and cheered, including Ryan.
After that, Luke came to congratulate me. He also explained that he’d called to wish me luck this morning.
And the laughter I heard wasn’t Ryan—it was actually Luke’s dog barking!

For years, we’re told that BMI (身体质量指数) is the standard. When you type in your height and weight,
this formula (公式) will give a number from underweight to healthy to overweight. And the latest thinking is that
we need to think more than this number.
“Some patients use the BMI formula and want to be in the healthy range (范围),” says Melanie, professor
of medicine. “But they just look at a number and say it is what they want to weigh. That’s not the correct way to
use the formula.”
One problem with BMI is that the formula lists the same weight range for men and women, and for older
and younger adults. “It doesn’t consider a lot of differences among people, like muscle (肌肉) and bone mass,”
says Dr. Jay, a medical expert. It may mistake athletes with strong muscles for overweight and miss health risks
for older people.
The BMI formula, Dr. Jay explains, is used to help find out a person’s health risks by doctors. For a person,
BMI should be considered with other physical conditions, such as blood pressure and blood sugar.
Recently, some doctors have begun using the BRI. “This formula doesn’t consider your weight but your
waist circumference (腰围),” explains Dr. Jay. The thinking behind this formula is that where you store fat can be
more important than how much you weigh. Too much fat in the abdomen (腹部) may lead to a higher risk of heart
disease.
“I wouldn’t use this formula to suggest what someone should weigh,” says Dr. Jay. “How are they feeling
What’s their blood sugar How well are they sleeping All these need to be considered.”
So what’s your ideal weight It’s hard to say. “Ask yourself if you are living a healthy lifestyle.” Dr. Jay
says. “When living healthily, the weight your body settles at (稳定) and keeps is what’s best for you.”
23.According to the passage, the BMI is ______.
A.a number which shows your weight B.a machine to check your height
C.a tool that treats the patients D.a formula to help find out health risks
24.Mr. Zhang, a 35-year-old teacher, needs to consider his ______ when using the BMI.
① ② ③ ④ ⑤
age job physical condition mood gender (性别)
A.①③⑤ B.③④⑤ C.①②④ D.②③④
25.What does the BRI check to assess (评估) your health risks
A.Your height and weight. B.The amount of your muscle.
C.Your waist circumference. D.Your blood sugar level.
26.What’s the best title of the passage
A.BMI vs BRI B.What’s Your Ideal Weight
C.Lose Weight! Live Healthily! D.Some Common Health Risks
【答案】23.D 24.A 25.C 26.B
The BMI formula, Dr. Jay explains, is used to help find out a person’s health risks by
doctors.”可知,BMI 是一个帮助查明健康风险的公式。故选 D。
24.细节理解题。根据“One problem with BMI is that the formula lists the same weight range for men and
women, and for older and younger adults. ‘It doesn’t consider a lot of differences among people, like muscle (肌

such as blood pressure and blood sugar.”可知,使用 BMI 时要考虑年龄、性别和身体状况。故选 A。
25.细节理解题。根据“Recently, some doctors have begun using the BRI. ‘This formula doesn’t consider your
weight but your waist circumference (腰围),’ explains Dr. Jay.”可知,BRI 通过检查腰围来评估健康风险。故

Do you want to take your pets on a long trip China has started testing a pet-friendly service on some
high-speed trains between Beijing and Shanghai since April 9, 2025. For the first time, passengers can travel with
their pets on the same train. The service is available (可用的) on 10 trains between five main stations: Beijing
South, Jinan West, Nanjing South, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou East.
According to China Railway Express, bookings must be made at least two days before traveling through the
12306 app. Pets must be healthy cats or dogs under 15 kg in weight and no taller than 40 cm in shoulder. Owners
must arrive 2-6 hours early to complete check-in. Owners need to show their ID and a pet health certificate (证书).
Pets are placed in special boxes with air, water, and cameras during the trip. Train workers will check the pets
every two hours but owners can’t visit or feed them during the ride. After the trip, owners have one hour to collect
their pets.
During the test period, prices are 30% cheaper. For short trips (under 1, 000 km) cost 390 yuan per pet
(normally 558 yuan). For longer trips (1000 km-1500 km) cost 460 yuan per pet (normally 658 yuan). Each
booking includes 2, 000 yuan insurance (保险费).
Many pet owners are happy with the service. However, some worry about pets feeling stressed. A Shanghai
woman with two cat said, “I hope future trains will have special carriages (车厢) where es can stay with owners.”
Before this trial, China’s high-speed trains didn’t allow pets. The idea became popular after a 2022 online
study by China Railway received millions of reviews. Railway officials said they wanted to improve travel
services for pet owners.

A.①→②→④→③B.②→①→④→③ C.④→②→①→③ D.②→④→①→③
28.How much does it cost to take two pets on a 900 km trip during the test
A.390 yuan B.460 yuan C.780 yuan D.1116 yuan
29.What does the underlined word “trail” in Paragraph 5 mean
A.trip B.rule C.test D.service
30.What can we infer about the future of pet-friendly train services in China
A.The price of the service will always be 30% lower.
B.More trains may offer this service if this trial succeeds.
C.Only cats and dogs can take the high-speed train in the future.
D.The service will end soon because pets feel awful on the train.

rang. “Hello! Is that Tom ” It was Luke, a new boy in my class.

Pets are placed in special boxes with air, water, and cameras during the trip. Train workers will check the pets
