This is a classic story from The Arabian Nights《天方夜谭》
(also known as One Thousand and One Nights《一千零一夜》)
《渔夫和魔鬼的故事》选自阿拉伯民间故事《一千零一夜》，渔夫的故事全文主要讲述了一个贫穷的渔夫，有一次到海边去捕鱼，意外地捞上了一只带有所罗门王封印的瓶子，好奇心驱使他打开瓶子，里面被所罗门王封印的魔鬼钻了出来，想要杀死渔夫。渔夫用自己的智慧战胜了魔鬼，使魔鬼重新封印在瓶子中。

Seeing a storm coming, the fisherman praised the genie, saying, “Wow, you are so big and strong. Can you change your size ” The proud genie happily said, “Of course! I am the strongest in the world!” The fisherman asked. “How big can you get ” The genie got bigger and bigger until he was as big as a mountain. However, he didn't notice the strong storm coming. The storm blew the genie away. The fisherman hid in his hut and watched. “He might be big and strong”, the fisherman said, “but he is too proud!”

If anyone set me free, I would kill them instead of giving them anything. So you must die, but I will let you choose how you want to die.

Fisherman： Were you really in the bottle You are so big and the bottle is so small. I think it could hardly hold one of your feet.
Genie：Of course I was in the bottle. Don’t you believe me
Fisherman： No, and I won’t believe you until I see you in the bottle with my own eyes.
Narrator：When the genie heard this, he changed into a cloud. Slowly the cloud went back into the bottle. When all of him was in the bottle, the fisherman quickly put the lid on and threw it back into the sea.

Once upon a time, there was a farmer working in his field. Soon he was very tired so he sat near a big tree. A hare ran out of a hole. When it saw the farmer, it was very afraid. It ran so quickly that its head knocked against the stump. It died soon. The farmer was very excited to see it. He picked up the dead hare and took it home for dinner. He was very happy.
From that day on, he didn't farm. He stayed by that tree, waiting for hares to come again. In the end the farmer couldn't get anything again because he was very lazy.
The story teaches us that we can't only depend on luck. We need to work hard to get what we want.
