One afternoon, I went to pick up my mother from work. I got there a little early, so I stopped my car by a small park and waited for her in the car.
As I looked outside the car window, I saw a little boy, around two years old, running freely on the grass and his mother watched him from a short distance. The boy had a big smile on his face as if he had just been set free after being indoors for too long. He fell to the grass, got up, without even looking back at his mother, ran as fast as he could, again, still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened.
At that moment, I thought to myself, “Why aren’t adults this way ” Most adults don’t even make a second attempt(尝试)when they fall down. They would be so embarrassed that they would not try again if someone saw them fall. Or, because they fall, they would find a good excuse for themselves that they are not fit for it. They would end up with the fear of failure.
However, with kids, when they fall down, they don’t consider their falling as a failure. Instead, they treat it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed. The answer must be that they have not connected “falling down” with the word “failure”. As a result, they are not discouraged(泄气的)in any way. Besides, they probably think to themselves that it is quite okay to fall down and it is not wrong to do so. In other words, they allow themselves to make mistakes, so they remain energetic.
I was deeply impressed by the boy’s persistence(坚持不懈)and the manner he did.
58.What would the boy do when he fell to the ground
A.He would ask his mother for help. B.He would cry a lot on the ground.
C.He would stop running immediately. D.He would keep on running after getting up.
59.What information can we get from Paragraph 4
A.Kids always do better than adults. B.Adults treat falling as a learning experience.
C.Kids don’t think of falling as a problem. D.Adults are not discouraged in any way.
60.Which of the following opinion does the writer probably agree with
A.Once a kid falls down, he should stop running.
B.We should give up trying when they fail.
C.We should allow ourselves to make mistakes and keep going on.
D.Parents should take good care of kids when they are running.
C
Most Chinese parents have great expectations (期待) of their children. When children are born, their parents have planned everything for them. It is common for parents to want their children to be successful. However, many children are unhappy. They live a planned life and are forced to fulfill the dreams.
In my opinion, every coin has two sides. The expectations can encourage children to work harder for a better life. According to some studies, whether a child will be successful or not depends largely on his or her parents’ expectations. However, unrealistic (不切实际的) goals can be harmful to children. Some parents ask their children to be top students in every subject, leaving them no time to relax. Others compare their children with classmates, making them feel sad or angry. For example, forcing a child who dislikes math to attend extra (额外的) classes every day might lead to arguments and low self-confidence.
To balance expectations, parents should first set goals based on children’s abilities and interests. For example, a quiet child might enjoy painting more than team sports. Next, praising effort instead of only focusing on results, such as saying “You worked hard on this project”. That helps children value progress. What’s more, weekly family talks allow kids to share worries, like friendship problems or exam stress. Finally, give children enough free time to rest and play. After all, childhood is not just about achievements but also joy and discovery.
Parents’ expectations are sometimes necessary, but every child grows at their own speed. Kind support works better than strict rules. By balancing expectations with love, children can grow into confident and healthy individuals (个人).
61.What does the underlined word “fulfill” mean
A.Achieve. B.Have. C.Give up. D.Add.
62.What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2

B.Parents’ expectations can make their children successful.
C.There are advantages of parents’ expectations as well as disadvantages.
D.Expectations can be harmful to children.

In small towns, people are used to saying hello to their neighbors in store, on the streets and in front of their homes. In today’s city life, people may feel uncomfortable talking to neighbors they don’t know well at the supermarket. But greeting your neighbors is actually good for you, especially if you say hello to six people, according to a recent survey.
Saying hello to people increases well-being (幸福感), but “six” is the magic number. The well-being score increases from zero to six and then there are no-further increases. These results are from a survey. The survey took place for seven days and was based on the answers from 4556 Americans, It covered social well-being, physical well-being, community well-being and more. People who said they didn’t say hello to anyone in their neighborhood scored a 51.5. People who greeted six neighbors had a score of 64.1.
You might think that saying hello to neighbors is only about social well-being. In fact, regular (经常的) greetings also improve a person’s physical well-being and community well-being. That’s because all of these are connected. You will be more likely to speak to people if you think your community is safe. Your physical well-being can improve if you are getting out and walking around your neighborhood.
We don’t require that you know the person well; just stop and calk to him. But the more people to whom you say hello, the greater she probability that you’re actually going to start a conversation with them is.
While this is just a survey for now, saying hello regularly is a good way to improve your own well-being.
66.What does the writer show us in Paragraph 1
A.City people are more friendly. B.People should have six neighbors.
C.Town people often greet neighbors. D.City people dislike going shopping.
67.How did the magic number “six” come out
A.By doing a survey. B.By having a discussion.
C.By greeting six neighbors. D.By searching many books.
68.What does the writer encourage us to do
A.Know about our neighbors well. B.Speak to people if the community is safe.
C.Get out to improve our physical well-being. D.Greet others even if we don’t know them well.
69.Which paragraph tells the relationship between social, physical and community well-being
A.Paragraph 2. B.Paragraph 3. C.Paragraph 4. D.Paragraph 5.
70.What is the best title for the text
A.Improve Your Well-Being B.Live in a Safe Community
C.Say Hello to Your Neighbors D.Walk Around Your Neighborhood
第二节 阅读表达(共5题;每题2分,共10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
“Look in my eyes. Tell me why.” Have you found yourself listening to “ancient people” online recently Have you watched past poets chat in the videos
Creative vloggers (视频博主) are using AI technology to bring famous people from history like Tang Dynasty (朝代) poets Li Bai and Du Fu “back to life” These videos show these ancient icons (代表人物) speaking in modern language, so they have become popular and caught many people’s eyes.
In one video, Du Fu talks about his experience during the hard time. In another, the medical expert Li Shizhen makes fun of modern lifestyles, like trying to be healthy by drinking gojiberry (枸杞) water but still staying up late. Besides, we can see that Sima Qian shares the feeling of his traveling in his twenties. Also, Xuanzang tells us how to achieve his dream with a strong will.
These videos lead to a hot discussion. “The videos make me want to learn more about important ancient people. I didn’t know much about their stories before,” said Wang Jiayi,15, from Shandong.
The new trend (趋势) isn’t for everyone, however. The way these ancient people speak, in high voices and always asking questions, makes some people uncomfortable. “They’ re too pushy (压迫感的) which is different from how they really were,” said 14-year-old Wang Shuotong from Jiangsu.
Xia Boen,14, from Hubei, felt the same. But thanks to the speaking style in the videos, he was surprised to find that he remembered almost everything they said about their experiences and achievements.
These videos use a more modern way to let ancient people “speak for themselves”. However, “we should be careful with these videos, making sure they are not sharing fake (虚假的) information,” noted Nanfang Daily.
