Do you know what makes people happy The latest World Happiness Report says having much money is not the main reason for happiness. True happiness comes from recognizing the things you have and enjoying them, but not getting more things. The things like phones and clothes can only give us short joy. Think about the presents you got. At first, you were excited, but then maybe you didn’t care about them.
So what brings true happiness In fact, people with good relationships are happier. It’s important to feel safe and loved by the people around you. But happiness means you have to give and take. Do kind things for people. For example, helping others can make you feel happy.
Health is another key to happiness. Eating well and exercising can help you feel happy. You will also sleep better. If you don’t get enough (足够的) sleep, you’ll feel tired. Be Your Own Best Friend
When you make a mistake or say something wrong, it’s easy to be hard on yourself. But with self-compassion (自我关怀), you can be a friend to yourself.
Compassion means caring about someone who is sad or in pain. Self-compassion is giving yourself that same care and kindness. When you mess up or when you’re trying hard to do something new, being kind to yourself can help. Dr. Kristin Neff, an expert (专家) on this topic, says self-compassion has three parts: being kind to yourself, understanding that everyone has hard times and noticing your feelings.
Self-compassion can lower stress, help you stay strong and make you feel better. When you’re kind to yourself, you can think more clearly and see a way forward. Psychologist (心理学家) Suzy Reading says self-compassion helps you be your own best friend and feel at peace.
There are many ways to be kind to yourself.
Talk to yourself using kind words. Notice the words you use. It’s helpful to try calling yourself a kind name, like “my dear” or “buddy” because this can help you speak gently to yourself.
Name the feelings you’re experiencing. When you feel upset, you might feel angry, disappointed, sad or anxious. At this point, you need to name the feeling and tell yourself it’s OK you feel this way.
Take care of your body. You can give yourself a hug, go for a walk, take a few slow and deep breaths or draw a picture.
Try a “gentle touch”. You can hold your own hand for comfort; place your hands on your heart to feel calm; rest your chin (下巴) in your hands to relax. Say kind words to yourself while doing these things.
Remember, be kind to yourself, and always do your best—that’s enough.

For some people, sharing their hobbies with a new friend can be a nerveracking (伤脑筋的) experience. One man in Britain, for example, was worried that his new friend might break up with him if she found out he was in the process of building the biggest model railway in the country.
So, instead of telling her, he kept the large model hidden in the basement (地下室) of a building. He told his friend he had rented it to store wine in.
Simon George said he didn’t want to share his hobby with his friend, Marie.
“I met Marie about two years ago. I led her to believe I was a wine merchant (商人),” he said. “It sounded better than saying I was building a model railway, which usually sends women running. She came down to the basement one day and said, ‘Where’s all the wine ’ I told her the truth. She has an art degree, so she liked the model.”
After years of work, Simon George has finished the model train set with 1 kilometer of tracks (轨道).
Fifty-three-year-old businessman Simon George spent eight years and over $330,000 building the model, which is based on a 2.4-kilometer section (段) of railway tracks in Yorkshire that he would visit as a child.
The model is designed to look the way the area did in 1983. George looked at about 500 photographs of the railway that were taken at that time to make sure that everything in his model was correct. He even found a photo of himself watching a train there as a child, which he has included in the model.
The finished model is 61 meters wide, with 1,000 meters of tracks going across it. George says he has been told by railway magazines that his model is the largest in Britain, but that he did not build it to break any records.
10.Why did Simon dislike sharing bis hobby with Marie
11.Where did Simon build his model railway
12.How long did it take Simon to build his model railway
13.What do you think of fun activities like making model railways and why

Well, mom may be right about most things in our life, but she isn’t right about all snacks. It is true that there is a healthy way to snack. In fact, snacking in the right way can make you healthier! The right snacks can be good for us! After having some snacks, you don’t need to eat too much at dinner and in this way, they can stop you from getting fat. Now let me tell you some rules to snack.
The first rule about snacking is to make snacks by yourself. Do not buy snacks from the supermarket or food shops. Most of those snacks have too much sugar and salt in them.
The second rule about snacking is to eat things that take longer for your body to process. Our body can process bread and cakes quickly. Try to have some cheese or yogurt to go along with some bread, and you have got a winning snack.
The third rule about snacking is to remember water. For example, when you are working, maybe you are not hungry but tired. What you should do is to have a break. Your body might just be trying to tell you to drink some water. Have some water before you take out another snack to eat. A short break and some water might be all you really need.

Dark tea has a long history of being carried on horseback to China’s northwestern areas as well as abroad. But as the fashion for new-style tea swept China, dark tea found new fans in big cities, mainly thanks to thousands of bubble tea (珍珠奶茶) shops.
In Changsha, the capital of Hunan, tea shops mix dark tea with light cream and pecans (山核桃) and advertise its health-improving effects, such as lowering cholesterol (胆固醇). “I like bubble tea but I don’t want to get fat, so I’m interested in the health-improving effects of dark tea,” said Peng Hongzhi, a 37-year-old Changsha resident. Peng notes dark tea is famous for its bitterness (苦味), which causes a challenge for developers of popular drinks.
Chayan Yuese is a popular tea brand also known as the Modern China Tea Shop. It said it began to develop dark tea-based drinks in 2019 to diversify (使多样化) its products of green, black and oolong tea. The company chose dark tea with richer flavours and added cream to improve the taste.
“Dark tea has a strong personality. Some people love it, but some hate it,” said Liu Qiaofang.
Liu Yang, the founder of Chaer Masi Chinese Dark Tea, is one of the young businessmen working on dark tea. “We want to introduce dark tea into the lives of young Chinese in a more fashionable manner,” said Liu, who has opened four shops that use dark tea to make bubble tea and fruit tea.
As a newcomer to the new-style tea market, dark tea drinks have few successful examples to draw experience from, so Liu’s team mixes the tea with fruit and dried orange peel to increase its health benefits. “Luckily, 30 percent of our first-time buyers have become regular customers,” he said, expecting a growing number of health-conscious consumers (关注健康的消费者).

You are a nature lover Then you must visit Zhangye Geopark (地质公园) in China! It’s recognized by UNESCO as one of the best geoparks in the world. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of the rainbow hills.
They are low hills that look like waves and have many different colours, just like a rainbow! There is little grass growing on the land. When you see the hills from above, it’s like you’re looking at rainbows painted on the ground.
You may wonder how these colourful hills came to be. Millions of years ago, this area was under a lake. Over time, rivers brought in sand and stones with different kinds of metal elements. These were left in layers on the bottom of the lake. Some layers were red, some yellow, and others turned purple or blue. Later, as the climate became colder and drier, the lake dried up. Then, something amazing happened!
The underground land began to rise up and push against each other. The layers of sandstone were lifted higher and higher. Through years of wind, sun, and rain, they formed the colourful hills we see today.
June to September is the most wonderful time to visit. The mornings and evenings are cooler than the hot days, giving you the perfect weather to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. Sunshine after a summer rain will make the colours even brighter and more beautiful.
