If you watch Ne Zha 2, you will be surprised not only by the film itself but also by its music. The opening song of Ne Zha 2 is truly special. It’s the Grand Song of the Dong ethnic group (侗族大歌). This creative mix connects old traditions with new movies, showing how culture stays alive in modern times.
The Dong people live in southern China, like Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi. They have their own language. And they are famous for their unique culture. The Grand Song is a symbol of their culture. In 2009, the Grand Song was named as one of the world’s important cultures by UNESCO.
The Grand Song is always performed by a group of people. Different people in the group sing different parts of a song at the same time, which creates a beautiful sound. Most of the time, the performers don’t use musical instruments as their voices are the main “instruments”. It makes the music more special and powerful.
The Grand Song is mainly about nature, love and friendship. People sing about their daily life, farm work and the important events in the Dong people’s history. The songs show the Dong people’s deep relationships with their land and traditions. The words often sound like nature—such as rivers or birds—making listeners feel close to the earth.
By singing the Grand Song, the Dong people pass on Dong culture and bring joy to more people. The Grand Song is not only a treasure in China, but it also goes onto the world stage. It is like a bridge between different countries and cultures. People around the world can enjoy its beauty.

B. Dong Villagers: Performers with Music Skills
C. Dong’s Grand Song: From Tradition to the World

From lunch boxes and drinking bottles to furniture and clothes, plastic is used to make lots of everyday things. When these things are thrown away, some of them end up in the seas. The plastic takes hundreds of years to break down. Biodegradable (可生物降解的) plastics were developed to deal with this problem.
Biodegradable plastics can break down naturally, but the new problem is they cannot break down completely in the sea. Instead, they break down into very small pieces called microplastics, which are often eaten by fish, birds and other animals. The microplastics are known to be harmful.
Recently, scientists have developed a new kind of plastic that could help solve this microplastic problem. It was created by researchers at the RIKEN Centre for Emergent Matter Science in Japan. Unlike other biodegradable plastics, the new plastic fully dissolves (溶解) in salty seawater. When the new plastic dissolves, it breaks up into separate substances (物质). And then small living things in seawater can break them down completely. Studies have shown that the plastic can break down in a few hours in seawater, and in around 10 days in soil.
The new plastic has other benefits, too. It is not poisonous (有毒的). When it is burned, the gas it produces won’t pollute the environment. The plastic can be made hard or shaped into different forms at temperatures above 120℃, so it could be used to make several different kinds of things. Takuzo Aida, who led the research, said the new plastic is “strong and recyclable”, and can be used in lots of ways. Joaquin Martinez Urreaga, from Polytechnic University of Madrid, called the idea “a promising product to deal with sea pollution”.
7. Why were biodegradable plastics first developed
A. To replace all traditional plastics.
B. To make plastic products cheaper.
C. To reduce plastic waste in the seas.
8. What is the main problem with biodegradable plastics today
A. They cannot be recycled at all.
B. They take too long to break down.
C. They turn into harmful microplastics.
9. Which advantage of the new plastic is mentioned in the text
A. It produces clean gas when burned.
B. It is completely free of production costs.
C. It can be shaped easily at low temperatures.
10. What is Joaquin Martinez Urreaga’s attitude (态度) to the new plastic
A. Doubtful. B. Uncertain. C. Positive.

Sun Yingsha is a young Chinese table tennis player who has won many important matches. She first became famous after winning at the Tokyo Olympics. At the Paris Olympics, she added another team gold, mixed doubles gold, and a singles silver to her achievements. Now she is one of the best players in the world. But behind her success lies a disciplined (遵守纪律的) yet balanced lifestyle.
Sun Yingsha trains very hard every day, usually for 6 to 8 hours. But she also knows how to relax. In her free time, she enjoys listening to pop music and watching movies. “Music makes me happy and helps me work better,” she says. Sometimes she plays mobile games, but not for too long. She knows when to stop and focus on her training again.
Her coach thinks this balance is very important. “Sun works hard but also rests well. Good rest helps her play better,” he explains. “She never misses practice, but she never skips (跳过) rest time either.” Sun herself believes that both practice and rest are necessary to become a great player. She also believes that strict training and proper relaxation go hand in hand. During competitions, she stays calm by taking deep breaths and staying positive. “Table tennis is my passion (热爱), but I also need breaks to stay sharp (敏锐),” she shared.
