The Instant Auto-Translator, or the IAT, will be in shops in the next week or so. It is the 32product from Pineapple Intelligence. The IAT is an incredible piece of technology that will change the world we live in. The idea is very simple. The IAT takes what you say and instantly translates it into another language. At the moment, the IAT has 15 languages to choose from, but 33 it will be able to translate into any living language. Just 34 you are a Spanish-speaker talking to a Swedish before you say it. It is 35 directly to your brain so it doesn't need to hear what you are saying. You don't need to speak-it translates what you are thinking. The Swedish-speaker will hear everything in Swedish. If they also have an IAT, they can talk back to you in Spanish.
A.conversation B.useful C.expensive D.apart from E. partly
How does it work
The IAT links with your brain using Wi-Fi. All you need to do is to have a small Wi-Fi chip put into your brain. Lots of people already have one-they are quite common these days and are not very 36 .
Does it work well
Here at the New Tech Magazine, we have tried the IAT and it works quite well. We found there were a few translation problems, but not too many, We tried translating from Japanese into English first. It used the word chicken instead of kitchen. But 37 that, it worked well. Then we tried translating from French into Greek and found that it didn't have Greek as a language choice yet.
Is it easy to use
It takes some time to get used to using it. When two people are having a 38 using IATs, it is quite strange at first. You have to think what you want to say, which is quite different when compared to just saying exactly what it is that you want to say.
Should I buy it
If you travel a lot, you will find it very 39 . But we think you should wait until it has more language before you buy one. With its current price set at $599, it's a good idea to see ifit will become cheaper over time.

Should Parents Monitor Their Children's Online Activities
A recent study found that many young people put in a lot of effort to hide their online activity by making fake profiles and clearing their search histories. This 61 the following question: How closely should parents monitor their children's internet use, or should they be doing so at all
In recent years, social media sites have gained in popularity among all age groups. And children are joining their first social network at younger ages. In the U.K.. 59 percent of children have already joined an online social network before the age of 10.
This trend 62 parents worldwide. As the saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure.” In monitoring children's online activity, this applies well. However, the definition of “prevention” in this context is often misunderstood. Most arguments for monitoring often focus on preventing children from coming into contact with bad people or content, but this is misleading: parents monitor children's internet use only to prevent negative influence from it.It's 63 that parents will always be able to prevent their children from coming into contact bad content. What's more, it also takes away the learning opportunities when children first come across such content.
Parents should limit their children's online hours and monitor their children's internet use 64. The key is to inform parents when their kids come across bad content, so that parents can teach their children about what to do in such situations.
For parents who decide to monitor their children's online behaviors, keep the following 65 in mind:
First, inform your children that you are going to start monitoring their digital activities before you actually do.Second, talk openly about how the monitoring will work, Third, be very cautious. There is still a thin line between protection and too much 66 . You can discuss with your children about the details of the monitoring and trying to respect their opinions.

YouTube phenomenon IShowSpeed's recent tour of China has unexpectedly become a masterclass in cultural diplomacy. The 19-year-old streamer, with his 37 million f 67 , has become an accidental ambassador for Chinese soft power through his exploration of Beijing and Shanghai.
Speed's livestreams from China have captured global attention, as he bounced between landmarks like the Great Wall and engaged with locals. His c 68 has created a rare crossover moment between Western and Chinese social media ecosystems.
State media like Global Times have highlighted how his streams represent a n 69 form of cultural exchange. His viral moments-like performing backflips (后空 翻) at the Great Wall or challenging locals to ping-pong matches-have generated unprecedented(前所未有的)interest in Chinese culture among young g 70 audiences.
Chinese officials have strategically embraced Speed's visit. The comment sections of his videos are filled with viewers expressing s71 at China's modernity and the warmth of its people-perceptions that differ from typical Western media portrayals.
While skeptics(怀疑论者)might q 72 whether such visits represent authentic cultural exchange or carefully arranged soft power, the impact on viewers remains significant. There's also open acknowledgement from the likes of Shaun Rein, the founder of Managing Director of the China Market Research Group.
In an era of increasing US-China tension, IShowSpeed's China adventures demonstrate how individual content creators can b 73 cultural divides in ways traditional diplomacy often fails to achieve.
D.Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)
Ever irritated by someone shouting at their mobile phone in a public place
We've all lost temper at least once at the sound of a person loudly communicating with someone on a mobile phone.
Recently, Dr. Adam Rutherford has been answering questions. “l have no interest in hearing about other people's private lives." “The conversation would have seemed to worry older generations. I think they would have considered it rude to talk loudly in public.”
Many people seem to do it without realizing why, but is there a scientific reason for their loudness
The answer begins by looking at one of the telephone designs called “sidetone"-a feature whereby a caller could hear his or her own voice in the phone's speaker when talking.
This makes the user sure that his or her loud voice can be heard clearly, leaving no reason to raise voice on the phone. But the problem with mobiles is that they are mobile, and a fixed volume of “sidetone" isn't always effective where background noise is very high.
Plus, this is our natural tendency to raise our voice to match the noise levels around us. We tend to try and match the loudest sound we can hear.
It is worth pointing out, however, that this would not be the first time that our use of mobile phones has challenged the idea of good manners. When phones were firstly invented, they raised all kinds of questions. Should one have a phone conversation when undressed Was it proper to stand up when speaking to a woman on the phone
It seems mobile phones, then, are a technology that may always form new etiquette issues.
Dr. Adam Rutherford doesn't enjoy hearing about people's private lives, does he

Dear Emily,
This semester, you've not only taught us English but also ignited our passion for Chinese culture. To bid you farewell, we've prepared a hand-painted silk fan-a classic Chinese art form. The fan features delicate bamboo patterns, symbolizing resilience and friendship, paired with a poem by Li Bai to reflect your love for poetry.
We chose this gift because it's portable, elegant, and deeply rooted in tradition. The bamboo also mirrors your kindness and strength, inspiring us daily. The fan will remind you of the laughter and knowledge we've shared in class.
Thank you for bridging cultures and nurturing our growth. May this fan accompany you home, like our gratitude, forever. Wish you a brilliant future! Keep shining, Emily!
With love,
Class 3,Grade 9
