Wang Xingxing, a young Chinese inventor, won the 2025 May Fourth Youth Medal for his outstanding work in robotics. Despite struggling with English and nearly failing the college entrance exam, his love for math, science, and robots never wavered. In college, he built his first robot with only 200 yuan, inspiring him to follow his dream.
In 2016, Wang started Unitree Robotics. He wanted to make robots that were both good and affordable. His team created the XDog, a four-legged robot that can run, jump, and even dance. Using simple materials like carbon fiber and 3D-printed parts, XDog was much cheaper than other robots. This made it possible for schools, farms, and ordinary people to use advanced robotics.
His robots soon became famous worldwide. In 2021, a Unitree robot danced on China’s Spring Festival Gala, watched by billions. In 2022, over 100 of his robots performed at the Winter Olympics. Then, in 2024, his robots became the main attraction at the Spring Festival Gala again. Many human-like robots from his team danced with singers and dancers. They moved easily, followed the music well, and even made funny expressions, becoming the biggest highlight of the night. But Wang’s robots don’t just perform—they also help in factories, on farms, and in places hit by disasters, carrying heavy things, planting crops, and looking for people in need.
Wang believes in sharing knowledge. He opens his technology to students and young inventors, hoping they’ll create better robots. “Robots should help humans, not replace us,” he says. “They’re tools to make life easier and safer.”
His story tells young people: love what you do, work hard, and don’t fear difficulties. As he says, “If you can imagine it, you can build it,” showing that youth means having the courage to dream and act.

Sugar painting, as the name-means, is a painting made of sugar. It’s the sugar for us to taste, and the painting for us to admire.
Since the Warring States Period, the ancient people loved sweets and developed methods of producing sugar. In the Tang Dynasty, there was huge progress in the technology of sugar making. And sugar, the precious product once only served to the emperors and princes, also went into common people’s homes. With the cultural and economic (经济的) development of Song and Yuan Dynasties, people became less interested in only tasting sweetness. In the Ming Dynasty, some people added pictures with good luck into the bowl of sugar, and sugar painting appeared.
Sugar painting is different from normal painting. Sugar painters use syrup (糖浆) as the material, a spoon as the “paintbrush”, and a smooth table as the “paper”. To make syrup, they have to make sugar box before painting. Since syrup may become hard if it cools, the painters have to produce the work very quickly. They move the spoon full of syrup up and down, left and right. Soon a sugar painting is done.
______. The sugar painting that used to be rich in shapes has become poorer and poorer because of fewer needs. What’s worse, few people seem to be willing to pass on the art except those aging sugar painters.
For most people, painting is a kind of art and difficult to understand. However, sugar painting has pulled the art down into people’s daily lives. Through it, we may see the spiritual support of the ancient people across centuries. Now, sugar painting has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) in China. Therefore, the art should be remembered, missed and passed on.
43. What does the underlined word “precious” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Valuable and expensive. B. Useful and cheap.
C. Special but worthless. D. Simple but priceless.
44. When did sugar painting appear
A. In the Warring States Period. B. In the Tang Dynasty.
C. In the Yuan Dynasty. D. In the Ming Dynasty
45. Why should sugar painters make the work very quickly
A. To show their excellent skills. B. To avoid syrup becoming hard.
C. To protect the spoon and the table. D. To reduce people’s waiting time.
46. Which of the following can be put in ______ in paragraph 4
A. So more and more people fall in love with this folk art.
B. Therefore, the process of making sugar is too difficult.
C. However, it’s a pity that this folk art is dying recently.
D. Gradually, sugar painters has become popular.

Automated Kitchens: Benefits and Risks
Do you think automated (自动化的) kitchens only exist in science fiction shows like Star Trek Well, think again! Nowadays, robots are already being used to do many things in the kitchen, like frying chicken, making pizzas, and preparing salads. And artificial intelligence (AI) can even create new recipes based on the food you have in a kitchen. There are also more advanced ideas being developed to make high-quality restaurant kitchens automated.
At first, because new technologies are usually expensive, restaurants and other businesses are the ones starting to use AI kitchen technologies. But as time passes by, the prices will probably go down enough for ordinary families to afford. This will change how our homes and society work.
There are some good things about AI kitchens. For example, cooks don’t have to do boring jobs like peeling potatoes or standing in one place for hours. This saves time and lets people do more important things. AI can also provide different kinds of special diets and tastes to meet personal needs.
However, there are also problems. Cooking is not just about making food. It’s a good activity that helps people communicate and express themselves. If we don’t need humans to cook anymore, these good things might disappear. Family relationships might not be so good as they would be without the time spent together in the kitchen.
Moreover, the kitchen is like a science lab at home. It’s important for kids to learn about materials, chemistry, and how to solve problems through cooking.
We also have to think about cultural problems. Sometimes, AI might change traditional recipes and cooking methods because it doesn’t understand cultural details well. This could make the dishes less diverse. If we depend too much on technology for cooking, the food might taste the same. It’s similar to how AI art images look alike in different apps.
In conclusion, while new technologies bring convenience, they also have a price. We need to think about the possible problems they might cause in our society, especially when it comes to something as important as food in our daily lives.
47. Why are restaurants the first to use Al kitchen technologies, according to the text
A. They are more interested in automation. B. They can afford the high costs.
C. They have more space for robots. D. They want to attract more customers.
48. What is one potential benefit of AI kitchens mentioned in the article
A. Meeting various tastes. B. Saving money on food.
C. Reducing kitchen waste. D. Improving family relationships.
49. If Al takes over cooking completely, what might happen to traditional cooking skills
A. They might be improved. B. They might be lost.
C. They might stay the same. D. They might become more popular.
50. What is the author’s attitude toward the widespread use of AI kitchens
A. Uncaring. B. Unclear. C. Positive. D. Cautious.

____61____ April 3rd, 2025, more than 2,300 students and teachers from Guyuan City in Ningxia started their yearly 54-kilometer walk. They did this to remember the soldiers who died in 1949 to free the region. This year is the 30th year of the “walking ideological and political education class” (行走的思政课). It started in 1995 and has ____62____ over 30,000 students.
The trip starts before the sun comes up. The people taking part carry white flowers they made by hand and sing patriotic (爱国的) songs ____63____ Ode to the Motherland (《歌唱祖国》). They walk on muddy mountain paths to Renshanhe Martyrs’ Cemetery. There, 391 soldiers are ____64____. Many of them were only 18 to 25 years old, like teenagers. The walk is hard. People often face rain, snow, and they get very tired. In 2021, a snowstorm made the trip take 14 hours, but everyone kept ____65____.
This ____66____ mixes history with learning by doing. Students look at battle maps in geography class. They write poems for the martyrs (烈士) and act out historical stories in English lessons. At the cemetery, they clean the tombstones and read the names of the dead soldiers. One student said, “____67____ the cold stones made me know what sacrifice really means.”
Over the years, this walk has become a model for education across the country. Schools in China now organize trips like this. The live broadcasts in 2024—2025 got more than 100 million people to watch. New technologies, like “AI facial reconstructions of martyrs”, let students “talk” to ____68____ figures. This makes the experience even better.
Many former students, like spacecraft designer Yan Qi, say the walk taught them to be strong and work as a team. Teachers say it helps students understand the cost of peace better than books can.
This 30-year-old tradition shows that education is not ____69____ about books. It’s about feeling history with your feet and your heart. As one teacher said, “When students walk this path, they carry on memory and ____70____.”
第二节 阅读表达(共6小题:71—73小题每题2分:74—76小题每题3分,满分15分)
阅读下面的短文,并根据短文后的要求答题(请注意问题后的词数要求)。
[1] In today’s busy world, many middle school students lose their weekends to endless homework, extra classes, and tutoring. But bringing back the two-day weekend isn’t just about giving students a break—it returns the sovereignty (主权) of growth to them, allowing students to develop into happy, healthy, well-rounded individuals (全面发展的个体)。
[2] First, weekends let students explore their interests. When school ends on Friday, students should have time to chase what they love, not just what textbooks teach. A student who enjoys painting can spend Saturday afternoon creating art (4) ①______ another might read science books or play a musical instrument. These activities aren’t “waste time”—they help students discover their talents and passions. For example, my classmate Li Hua started cooking on weekends and now cooks for her family, learning responsibility and creativity along the way.
[3] Weekends also protect students’ (4) ②______ and mental health. Long school days and heavy homework often make students tired and stressed. Two days off allow them to sleep enough, exercise, and relax. Imagine a student who plays basketball with friends on Sunday——this not only makes his body strong but also helps him forget school pressure. Studies show that well-rested students learn better during the week, so weekends are actually a “power-up” for their brains.
[4] Family and social skills are another important part of growth. On weekends, students can talk to their parents, help (4)③______ housework, or visit grandparents. These moments build love and understanding at home. They can also meet friends, join clubs or volunteer, learning to work with others. My cousin Xiao Ming volunteers at an animal shelter every weekend, and he says it taught him kindness and how to communicate with different people.
[5] Some people worry that two-day weekends will make students lazy, but the truth is: when students have control over their time, they learn to manage it wisely. A weekend plan might include 2 hours of homework,1 hour of reading, and 3 hours of fun activities-this teaches self-discipline (自律), a skill that will help them all their lives.
[6] In the end, the two-day weekend is a gift of time for students to grow not just as learners, but as human beings. (5) Let’s give back their weekends and let them paint their own pictures of childhood, because every student has the right to grow in their own way.

A. Uncaring. B. Unclear. C. Positive. D. Cautious.
【答案】47. B 48. A 49. B 50. D

【答案】61. On 62. inspired
63 like 64. buried
65. going 66. activity
