My partner prefers traditional Chinese music, the music of pipa in particular. Because she will recall her hometown and families while listening to it. And her grandmother is good at playing the pipa.

What role does music play in your daily life
Music enables me to relax after a whole day’s stressful schoolwork. When I feel lonely or depressed, I like listening to light music which can relieve me of bad mood. All in all, music plays a significant role in my life.

Cultural Note
The musician and songwriter Bob Dylan was born in the USA as Robert Zimmerman in 1941. He has been making and performing for almost 60 years. He began as a folk musician, but, infamously, moved to electric rock later. While attending college, he began performing folk and country songs and took the name “Bob Dylan”. His songs
are noted for their lyrics, which unlike many popular songs, are poetic and full of complex meaning.
He has received multiple awards for his songs and lyrics including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Nobel Prize for Literature. Due to the nature of his work, he is often described as one of the most influential figures of the 20th, musically and culturally.
